  • Ari Behn was a well known Norwegian author and artist. From 2002 until their divorce in 2017 he was married to Princess Märta Louise of Norway, and they had 3 childeren together. He stayed on good terms with the royal family even after the divorce, and was often on the official guest lists. However. On Christmas Day of 2019 Ari Behn commited suicide. The royal family chose to be open about this tragedy, and King Harald devoted most of his New Year speech that year to talk about mental health.

It's utterly gut-wrenching to his kids because they have to live with the pain forever.

Kjære alle som er i mørket, vi skal klare oss, kjempe som ville dyr og klamre oss til lyset. Lyset, håpet og troen på at Godheten vinner alltid gjennom oss.
    Tanker og tro fra Sølvi.♥️

1:00:11 ... the brother of Ari can t control his voice anymore because of pain and despair. That s the part sending shivers down my spine. He is in such a great pain, horryfying to listen!
Ari killed himself the same time the liaison of his ex wife with this untruthful shaman went public. I think he couldn t stand this. Also he knew his daughters would fall for this liar. The oldest daughter kept the memory of her father, at least in this ceremony.

If Ari was unhappy with Märtha finding a new partner, i’m sure he would have told her that in a different way than committing suicide…. Why would he take his own life on Christmas Day because of that ? Yes the Shaman has been a hell for Norway and the Norwegian RF, but why would he deliberately throw his daughters into that pain ? It is well known that he was mentally very fragile for years even while they were married - but i understand it’s tempting to tie the Shaman to that to put fuel to the fire…. However i don’t think that helps anyone… Least of all his 3 children

Yes, Princess Märta Louise was there, but not her conman boyfriend.
At 35:50 we see Princess Märta standing beside their oldest daughter, who holds a farewell speech for her late father.
At 1:40:50 we see Princess Märta and all 3 daughters follow the casket. Crown Prince Haakon is one of the pallbearers.

Regardless of what you think of Princess Marta-Louise & her choices. They were married for 15 years & she shared 3 Daughters with him, ofcourse she'll be there, at the very least for their 3 Daughters. However, I maintain you can not be married for 15 years (she probably knew him longer) share someone's life in every sense, bear their Children & in case of Divorce, shed those memories & feelings completely. Much has been made about Princess Marta-Louise & her choices & lifestyle since the Divorce, one thing that has been said about her post-divorce relationship with Ari, was that he & she remained friends, as did Ari with the Royal Family. Both She & Ari were committed to giving their Daughters the best life they could & there was never blame thrown in either direction. That total Mind numbing, Black Despair & Deep Dark Depression that normally precedes Suicide in one with Mental Health Issues, is generally not attributable to any one or two specific events in their lives. Nor is the Person deliberately trying to hurt or punish, those they love & who loves them. In fact they are often unable to understand or even consider that for them to leave, they will cause such great Pain to those left behind. They feel that those they love will be Ultimately better off if they were to leave. The saddest thing is in many cases of Mental Illness, the only clarity & the most clarity occurs when having made the decision. One can only hope that Aris 3 Beautiful Daughters are old enough & secure enough to understand their Father didn't commit Suicide to hurt them, he wasn't leaving to hurt them, he probably left because in his mind, they would be better off in life without him. He was unwell & couldn't think clearly, it wasn't because he didn't Love them. Always remember him with Love & Kindness, he truly deserves that.

      To a significant degree, certaintly.
However the Lutheren Church of Norway has played a large role in our history and remains very culturally relevant.
I am an atheist, but I am also a member of the church of Norway. I was baptised and confirmed. I also intent to be buried in a church cemetary beside my family.
To many norwegians the church is as much a cultural institution as a religious one.
A sign of the changing times you could look to is that it USED to be our state church, but this changed in the early 2000's. It is now one of many equal religious institutions, but retains a close relationship to the royal family, as the king used to be the head of the church.
To most people it is simply the place to go to mark significant occations. Sure, there are those who believe earnestly in god, and those who willfully distance themselves from it.
I cannot claim to know Ari Behn or his relationship/belief in regards to god, but I think most norwegians would like a traditional funeral regardless.....
