I just had the pleasure of meeting Tom for one of my classes. Super down to earth and approachable guy. An absolute reservoir of information and helpful advice for producers.
I’m taking a bong rip right now, sit my ass down in this chair for a little bit and listen to some of this action Tom’s always a fun interview. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything he tells exactly how it went down. He’s honest he’s truthful, and he wasn’t using near as many drugs as the people he was working for / with.
This guy litaraly produced 90 % of all my favourite albums of all time! I remember in my teens in the 80's allways read his name on so many great albims! Mr. Werman is simply a legend!!! And I don't give a crap about what Sixx and Sneider says now. ! Give me break!!!
Great interview. I’m about 3/4 of the way thru his book, and he’s right, I read a lot more at each sitting than I normally do. A lot of the music Tom worked on came during a significant period in my life, and when I hear it today, it brings back a lot of good memories. Tom seems like a really good guy, and he has an interesting story to tell. Hope a lot of people read his book.
I enjoy how you set a good tone for the interaction with your guests. Good work selecting questions as well. You can tell he's relaxed and able to share much easier. Well done, thanks Chuck.
Vince Neil didn't go to prison. I believe he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and actually served 15 days or less. Paid a bunch of money and was court ordered to do a Public Service Announcement where he said "Don't drink & drive... take a limo home". That's it.
Yeah I remember that stupid ass public service announcement. Said something like I USED TO PARTY WITH THE BEST OF EM. NOW I DO IT WITHOUT DRUGS. Was just a crock of shit
@@ChuckShute Awesome ! I look for that interview is it here on your channel ? Love your interviews . Would love to see interviews also from Dann Huff , Richard Marx , Yngwie , Ian Thornley , Paul Gilbert , Bruce Bouillet , Mike Varney , and so many more . Yours are some of the best ! Thanks for the great content
Yes, are used to listen to Too $hort , NWA ,2 live crew, etc… however, I begin with motley Crue, Def Leppard RatT Etc… I fell into the rap thing in seventh grade. Well, I was a kid it was new I was in seventh grade. However, two years later, I was right back to the rockers never looked back after that, except for the movie Boyz in the hood. Thought that movie is fantastic. I was in eighth grade at that point. I was just a little white boy trying to make ends meet…… I copied the ending here in Guns N’ Roses what is 1 million changed it from little white lboy to small town whiteboy
Tom doesn't seem completely clear in his recollection of the Lord's prayer segment. The Lord's prayer, as far as I know for one, is on the Cheap Trick Heaven Tonight album on the song How Are You. After Robin sings, I think in the second verse, "you know you talk too much you even scare my friends", you hear the double speed chatter of the girl reciting the Lord's prayer which you can actually make out. However, the rumor was at the very end whoever was reciting the Lord's prayer actually says, And I could never confirm this, but reportedly says, "however, our father is NOT in heaven."Tom may have placed this same segment on another band's album and if I am recalling correctly, he did but I can't say where.
@@ChuckShute check it out man it's cool. And if you have a turntable you can actually slow down or manually turn, turn it slowly and you can hear that prayer
I liked the interview plus I understood lot things what Tom was saying. He pronounces words quite well I'm French but I put the translator on to help me
I think "Rodeo" is on the expanded "Girls, Girls, Girls" (an album released in 1987) but was actually demoed in 1988-89 for "Dr. Feelgood" (which was released late 1989). BTW, TOTALLY disagree. "You're All I Need" is much better than "Rodeo". It's one of Motley's best tunes, imho. Great job on this interview. You're asking legitimately interesting questions here, stuff long-time fans would like to hear Mr. Werman answer. This guy produced some of the best Hard Rock music of all time and has much to say if asked interesting, new questions. "Shout At The Devil" is one of the greatest sounding Hard Rock/Metal albums of all time, Tom will get into heaven (or hell!) just for that accomplishment alone. "Girls, Girls, Girls" is a really good album as well, the last "Sleazebags from L.A." -themed Crue album. There's weak tunes but the overall vibe is strong and functional-dysfunctional, it's a "deep" album and period for the band. Tom Werman produced "Home Sweet Home". Enough said.
Chuck, i think you did a good interview, but dude, you cut off Tom so many times when he was answering your questions. You gotta let thst ledgend speak.
@@mr.logicpants2835 I try not to interrupt… eventually sometimes you have to though. Howard Stern is the worst at this. But some people prefer his style because he does keep the conversation moving.
As far as guests who ENJOY talking and can go off in may different interesting tangents, Maybe try for Todd LaTorre from Queensryche. You already had Tate on, and Todd would be a MUCH easier interview for you compared to Geoff LOL!!!!
I’d love to… if you have an e mail or something send it my way. They always ignore my requests when I send it. I’d love any member of Queensryche, especially an OG. I’m from Seattle so probably lots of stories to connect.
I'm a little disturbed by Tom's background... it's so ... ineffectual? Unless he's in his kitchen? I dunno 😂 A collection of cups and dishes you probably wouldn't want to eat off of, earth tones, and some strange artwork made of spindles lol. I dunno, for a music producer, it's a bit uninteresting, to the point where it's completely distracted me haha
@@ChuckShute I agree haha; also, he ended up explaining how he was retired, so then the background kind of made more sense. btw, I watched the interview through, it was fascinating. Thank you for sharing it!
I guess you were expecting a RIAA wall of platinum records. Maybe he used to display them as a “hotshot producer” but he ran a bed and breakfast for years.
@@muziktrkr He's SO down to earth (and the background so... normal) that it confused me! I don't picture anyone in the music industry being like that at all. I just picture vipers. Would have been a lot more enjoyable if Chuck wasn't such a Motley Crue fanboy. Tom has over 50 albums to his credit, and Chuckie just wants to know why he didn't produce Skid Row. I'm sorry I wasted time on this.
Chuck, you do a great podcast with some awesome guests. I feel like you should have 100x more subscribers. Hopefully it keeps growing!

Werman unintentionally exposing Nikki’s heroin use as being greatly exaggerated. Many have accused Nikki’s heroin diaries as being mostly fiction.
