    AHH we literally have the same type of hair!! I use the same products! I would suggest applying the curl enhancing smoothie first all over like you did and take three sections of your hair on each side and apply a little more and twirl it outwards! And don’t touch it too much to reduce frizz! Also maybe try waiting only like only 5 min after you’re out the shower so your hair can be super wet when you style it! I hope this helps! I also use a diffuser and have noticed such less frizz!!

    • @Dentaldays
      @Dentaldays 3 года назад +77

      Also one more thing ! When you first apply the curl enhancing smoothie, kind of apply it by flattening your hair with it first and then split the sections like I said! Then you apply more to each section and then you scrunch! So you cause less frizz!!

    It's so nice to find other Asian women showing their wavy hair routines because I feel like we have such a different texture to our hair/waves. I've been trying to transition my hair for the past five months and grow out my bleached ends. It's been a bit frustrating to see that my hair continues falling straight on some days, but I know that this is a long process that I need to be patient with. Anyways, I'm really glad I came across this video and I'm so happy to find another Asian wavy!

      I’m not Vietnamese, I’m Italian but have the same hair type as the girl in the video. I started caring for my hair around two years ago. Don’t feel discouraged, remember that almost everything you see on the internet (especially on Instagram) is not only the absolute *best* picture they could have taken, but it’s also the *best* lighting they had, the *best* filters and editing skills they developed over time...
      I’ve also felt discouraged when I was following the CGM and comparing myself with the other girls on ig, thinking “why is their hair looking so beautiful and mine isn’t?”. Then I ditched the CGM and I started doing what *I* felt it was best. Now my hair is looking better than ever.
      So yeah, if CGM works for you, great. But remember that it doesn’t fit everybody and it’s okay to change things up a bit! Sorry for the word vomit lol.

      This is so true and i used to feel like such a fraud for not having the same texture of hair since birth! I used to have a stright, uniform legth bob my whole childhood and when i started to grow it around age 13, it was pretty wavy and kept getting wavier, and i kid you not-- I have a whole head of curly hair now and some parts are COILY, its insane how hair changes, but ive been told it has to do with hormone shift, and its true that this change happened around puberty so that explains it lol

    • @shawtazz

      Oh the joy, I'm also Vietnamese. But my hair has been wavy(not straight) for a long time probably since I was 10, (or was it 8, now that i think about it i had a bob shoulder length hair where my hair would curl into my shoulders but still look straight and then after cutting because it was too long, that's when the nightmare happened 😅) that and i always dyed it because I also have grey hair since 12yo 😥.
      But I'm 26yo now and I'm trying to learn how to make my hair nice and not frizzy. Accepting my curls and not always straightening it. It can get super curly, all I've tried so far is pump 2 in 1 cream, and the Shea moisture enhancing smoothie, but no gel. Thinking gel might help the frizz. Or it's my technique lol

    My hair was a mixture of curly, wavy, and straight, and now it's wavy and straight. Thing is... it's also thick and it really adds to the volume of my hair and I don't know how to take care of it. Lately though, it's mostly been straight rather than wavy but there are days where it's not straight at all and forms waves even when I didn't put my hair up. My hair got a life of its own. omg finally someone who describe their hair that is exactly like mine. it's wavy, frizzy and straight. I wasn't born with wavy hair. after cutting my hair short when I was 13 (2016), my hair started getting wavy as it grow. I didn't know it at first so i just straighten my hair everyday before school because i didn't like how it looks. I watch videos about how to know if my hair is actually wavy or not. I started scrunching my hair when it's wet and that's when my wavy hair is more noticeable and much nicer i would say. when I was 15 (2018), my hair is not only wavy but some of them are in big curls. some people even thought i did my hair. it was probably my fav hair phase .Then when i was 17 (2020), my wavy hair started to loosen ,more hair was starting to appear straight. I then cut my hair short again in 2021 and kept it at shoulder lenght that whole year. my hair is almost straight but still have volume. It's not at all as wavy as before. im not sure why. maybe my hair does not appear wavy if i have short hair. but isn't that weird to you? bcs it is to me. I'm gonna start to let it grow long now .if it does become wavy when it's long then my question would be answer. that i will have almost straight hair when it's short , and wavy when it's long.

      Hey, same here! I have been on the curly hair journey since almost a year now, maybe more. I use mamaearth's onion shampoo and conditioner, sometimes wella's deep conditioner for curly hair, then i use wella's hair mousse (if that's how you spell it). Then I let it air dry (without touching my hair, cause that gets in the way of the cast formation, but swaying them so they dry faster) and when I know for sure that my hair is completely dry, I use a serum and scrunch out the crunch. It gives me beautiful and voluminous waves. I am going to be buying a diffuser and a curl cream soon for even better results. I hope this helped but if it didn't, I'd like to know about your curly hair routine if that's alright with you. If not, good luck to you ♥️♥️

  • @OBNOXIOUSBLA13
    @OBNOXIOUSBLA13 3 года назад +6

    The reason your roots dry slower is because processing your hair (color/chemical straightening/ect) weakens the hair and breaks down the proteins in the hair causing it to have more open cuticles (high porosity) as opposed to you natural hair which has a lower porosity. Doing protein treatments prior to any kind of processing or high heat manipulation can help mitigate damage. Curly Chemistry here on RUclips is a great resource for the science behind the anatomy of hair and how and why certain products work on hair at a molecular level in an easy to understand format. Also defusers can help dry the hair if you don't have time to air dry.

    6:54 - That’s what I’ve recently been doing! I use most of my products sparingly and I have these 2 deep conditioners/leave ins and I just didn’t know how to use them up as I was using another leave in at the time. I remember Stella Cini mentioned how she used treatments in her wash routine, rather than conditioner and wondered if I could do the same with leave ins/deep conditioner. I also love to use head and shoulders as I double cleanse my scalp, so it just removes all the build up I may have and then I go in with my regular shampoo. We also have a similar hair pattern, I’m just soo happy you found a routine and products that are working for you. I hope you continue having positivity in your journey and I hope you and your loved ones are well. Best wishes lovely~ 🍂✨
    - So far, I honestly love it. I have 2b-3a type hair, mainly loose ringlets and waves, and I felt like as I got older, my hair started to become thinner. Since adding the leave in after I apply my conditioner, I’ve noticed my hair feel so much healthier and thicker, so I definitely agree with you on that.
    What I do:
    1. Apply about a quarter size of conditioner and spread throughout hair and detangle lightly if need be
    2. Next, get a swoop/dollop (roughly 2 nickel or quarter sized) of my leave in, rub it in my hands (“to warm up”), lightly wet my hands/product (leave ins/deep conditioners are often heavy) and spread it throughout my hair, mainly focusing on the ends.
    3. Then I add about a nickel size of conditioner and mix it with water, just because I do like that slippy feel.
    4. Let sit for at least 5 min.
    5. Rinse
    (I also use head and shoulders at least every 1x or 2x a week, just to clean away extra build up, and I double shampoo my hair, so first I go in with head and shoulders, and then go in with my regular shampoo.)

    Just a thought, I used to use H&S as a shampoo for years as well, for the exact same reason (dandruff). However, during the first lockdown when I also started my wavy hair journey and started using the curly-method recommended shampoos, I've noticed my dandruff disappearing. I think H&S is really good at cleaning but not really at the "removing the cause" of dandruff, which was probably dry scalp due to the dryness of my hair. With the curly girl method and adding more moisture to my hair, that changed - and also, using one of those rubber scalp brushes that remove the dead skin cells off the scalp. It worked for me, might not work for you, but could be worth trying, seeing that H&S tends to dry out the hair. But on the other hand, the other steps in your routine do reintroduce the moisture back into your hair, so the downsides of the shampoo shouldn't be too problematic :)

    I’m Chinese and everyone in my family has sleek straight hair, but mine was completely frizzy, to the point where a Hong Kong hairdresser called me explosive hair girl in Cantonese in public😭. My mum made me get my hair chemically straightened but it would only last 6 months, and I was made to feel bad that I didn’t have straight hair. It took me until I was 24 when a hairdresser told me my hair was curly and all I needed was to add curling product in to get my natural curls out. Now I’m no longer embarrassed to wear my natural hair and have stopped straightening it! ❤

    I’m so glad I found a viet girl with the same hair texture as myself. I’m viet too born and raised in sgn. I hated my hair growing up cuz it was always frizzy and wavy in a messy way. I got teased so much in school so I asked my mom to get it chemically straightened at age 12. I would get it done once or twice a year cuz the wavy root came back and I wanted to get rid of it. Last year I cut off all the treated part and let my virgin hair grow out on its own for the first time. Best decision I’ve made for myself. Now I know how to take better care of it thanks to your video 🥰

    If you don't mind the frizz, ignore this comment, but when you're hair is frizzy wet, it's gonna be even more frizzy once it dries. Don't scrunch your hair so much. It causes friction which causes your hair to frizz. Also, I'd ditch the comb and use a denman brush or a paddle brush.

    I’m SO happy I found your tiktok bc we have the same hair type rather o just treated my hair as if it was straight bc I didn’t know how to actually treat it being the only one getting my dad’s gene of wavy hair while all my siblings have straight, but then my friends always kept pointing out the fact that the ends of my hair would always wave so I’ve recently been trying to treat it like the hair type it actually is rather than straight hair :)

    When you scrunch out the scrunch you need to use a little bit of oil to avoid the frizz but your hair looks good girl! Dont feel bad about the hair coloring, just use hair mask and everything is gonna be fine❤

My hair used to be very curly when I was little bit I think my curls got damaged from my mom using heating tools on me to straighten my hair. Found someone who has the same hair texture as me 🥲 as a se asian it’s so hard to find products for our hair since straight hair is the norm and mostly the standard here. I used to have pin straight hair when I was a kid then it became curly and frizzy so I rebonded a few times all throughout high school and college. Now I’ve decided to stop my chemical treatments and grow out my natural waves. It’s a tedious process but I’m willing to do it since my hair is becoming dry and frizzy again due to extensive keratin treatments and hair coloring.

    Please know that one reason to wash hair less often is that every time water evaporates from your hair, it's making it drier. It's like licking chapped lips. Evaporation is drying/damaging. Therefore I don't think you should keep rewetting your hair so much. The best thing is simply to work quickly out of the shower with your sopping wet hair. Put in a few products, scrunch, and then stop touching it. Rewet it *maybe* once to comb out any wet frizz (if you have any) and then scrunch just one more time. Wavy hair will wave up a lot on its own. You could have a lot less frizz IMO. You are very beautiful, btw!

  • @am-zj4mq
    @am-zj4mq 2 года назад

    Hi, I’d advise you to try using a clarifying shampoo for the straight hair treatment and also to stop using the H&S shampoo! It is horrible for your hair and has so many sulfates which is super stripping for wavy and curly hair, taking away your natural oils which is why you may have such a problem with moisture. For dandruff, try tea tree oil and the ouai scalp scrub. Also try brush styling and finger rolling, for some it can work miracles and really helps encourage the curl pattern/wave pattern for those who don’t agree that waves are a type of curly hair.

    I know you said that the Head and shoulders shampoo works for you but I'd HIGHLY recommend you'd get a different shampoo especially one without sulphates since you suffer with dandruff from time to time. I'm sure you've heard but Head and Shoulders are currently going through a lawsuit because they have this chemical in their shampoos called DMDM hydantoin I believe which promotes hair loss and is very bad for your hair even causing cancer in some instances. So that shampoo might possibly be the reason some sections of your hair are thinning or even that your suffering from dandruff to begin with (I know ironic right? Its a dandruff shampoo yet it might be causing the dandruff). But since you use the Shea moisture conditioner I highly recommend any of their shampoo especially the more moisturising lines such as the manuka and shea butter lines. I hope this helped!

    Your routine was to interesting to see from someone with dead straight hair! I am also studying hair so I am trying to learn about every hair type.
    I thought I would add, you might be finding you get drandruff from a product build up. I might be wrong and it could be many other reasons but from watching your routine I think that could be it. You use a lot of products pretty close to your scalp which will build up over time especially for someone with hair as thick as yours. If you can I would place the products only to your mids to ends the only with any left overs on your fingers work your way up. Because if you could move away from using head and shoulders that will really really help with helping your curls. Head and shoulders is so drying and when curly hair gets dry can cause frizz and breakage. Instead you could try hydrate sheer by pureology which is a natural shampoo which is hydrating but also light. Or even Dallas by a brand called r and co which is thickening and also light. Adding a shampoo brush into your routine too will really help by lightly exfoliating your scalp, and only using a tiny bit of shampoo. Shampooing two or even three times with a tiny bit of shampoo is much better than using too much once. You could also try detox masks on your scalp to rid yourself of build up. Detox masks I find are just as important as hydrating masks for your ends. They really changed my hair and helped me so much. You can try it and I hope it helps! Your video was really great to watch ☺️☺️
