Error 20 and 30 is an issue with Canon EOS's through the entire range, since ages already. Usually switching off and on as per advice on-screen will not repair it. You can try to switch it off, take the battery out, switch it on and the insert the battery. Or you can try to operate the cleaning function. If both does not help, then you could try charging the battery 100 % full and trying again. If that solved the problem then the battery is too old. You could remove the lens and lift the mirror with the help of the live-view button. If you see the shutter curtain / blades stuck / partially open / dropped, you need a new shutter. If the shutter looks ok, the technically inclined could open the camera case and manually turn the shutter gear. There is a video on RUclips made by a guy showing the process, which is absolutely not for the faint-hearted. It will probably work, but it provides likely a temporary fix only, if the camera is older. The Canon service will charge the equivalent of about USD 150 - USD 300 for exchanging the shutter, depending on the model. In the USA that service is probably about USD 100 more, because the USA is no 1 with everything.
I own a Canon 5D MKII and recently starting getting the Error 30 message, during commercial photo shoots no less!! However, this is after many years of ownership, still unacceptable and is probably going to be costly to repair. Hate to say it, but these cameras are just not made to be used on a professional level..
Same problem. Got the camera yesterday but had to time to unpack and set up. Set it up today, went to take my first shot and was greeted with Err 20. Seems to be a problem with the mirror not swinging up out of the way. From Canon's website: Err 20 Description: A malfunction with the mechanical mechanism has been detected. Resolution: Turn the power off, then remove and re-install the battery. Then turn the power on again. Err 30 Description: A malfunction with the shutter has been detected. Resolution: Turn the power off, then remove and re-install the battery. Then turn the power on again. I have turned the camera off and moved the battery multiple times. No joy. More evidence that mirrorless is the wave of the future.
but my problem with 5D MARK IV it start after 5 month when i took photo 5 or 10 the camera it stop nothing work then i take the battery out the camera then i return the battery to the camera my camera it come back work and after 10 shoot the same problem
@@anikadhikary4669 This is a well known way to release stuck shutter, hit the camera lightly on the side while the error is displayed. I had this issue with Canon 1dx, and found this solution on the internet, and it helped each time. Lightly tap the camera on the side, and the shutter is released (you hear click), camera working properly again. Happened 2 or 3 times to me during the course of 2 years.

I own a MK 2 too and it is still ok. At 150 000 shutter count or so problem are prone to arise but it is not acceptable for a new unit.
Same issue with mine. Spent a bomb 300£ on repair in UK. 😔😔

Stick in a memory card or switch in the menu on that you can shoot without
There is card 1 in the slot, the message in the first screen just mean you cannot write to both cards. Error 30 is likely a shutter problem.
