- Now THIS is a crazy Subaru! Today we hop in OffTheLine Performance's Subaru RSTI. Using the Blob eye generation's motor and drivetrain, Offtheline has built this 720HP MONSTER using a 2000 Subaru RS body. Nearly all parts on this car aside from the built motor and transmission are OEM Subaru from several different models including the rare 22B. So what's it like driving a perfect Subaru? FINALLY! Did every subaru BUT the classic GC/GM/GF chassis!!! Been waiting for this for a long long time!!
the gc8/gm6 chassis is by far the pinnacle of subaru design. I love my JDM MY95 WRX, with chassis stiffening braces, suspension upgrades and a few bolt ons its an absolute blast, i can't imagine what it'll be like when i take it down the route this one has taken. Loved the video as always, David; even more so when its a subaru!

I would have used one of the unused fog lights for an intake rather than lose a headlamp for no reason.
I know I feel like it's unnecessary rice. Like it's built by someone that obviously knows their shit and has good taste i just feel like less is more with a part that loses more than you gain because hotboi

@@hhaste I know it's a beast of a machine it built by otlp but I wouldn't be rocking it on street. This car has a lot of great things about it without being too many random parts know what I mean? I can't imagine iat's are worth it. It's a minor thing but Im going to go ahead and say that one intake for a headlight is race inspired cosmetics. Not functioning enough to justify having one headlight. It's not a blob eye! Be greatful and leave it alone. Less is more
The head light intake adds 4mph trap speed and around 3-4psi of boost at speed.

Yes, they're expensive, but if you're building a 720hp Subaru, it probably is just a drop in the bucket at that point.

Maybe one day in the distant future I'll bring you my 1994 Mazda 323 2.5 V6 swapped and Turbo by then to have a go at it . Long road ahead before its up-to spec. Basically a resto mod.

Hey it was awesome to see you hanging out and reviewing Mike's cars that was an awesome collaboration. I am not sure if Car Content people realize this, but when fans see car content people team up every once in a while they really like it. It's like when you read comic books and 2 heroes or hero teams team up fans tend to like those issues a lot. So for other Car Content people who might watch this channel take note of what I just said. Now I am hoping that all car content people get a long but I am not naive that there might be some friction(I honestly hope not b/c everyone I sub to, seems to be doing well). I gotta go take my cat to the Vet but I will give you a review of this vid after I get back and watch it without getting ready aka trying to get my cat in a carrying case and if you have ever had to do that, you know it's an "Adventure".
Hey are you in Iowa at the 1/8th Mike Track? Oh awesome I used to take my modified Jetta GLX III. Yeah 1320 is from there and take a deeper look into Omaha and surrounding areas car scene and you will be surprised by amazing cars/trucks that come from there. I mean Trucks like Parish. You are in my old stomping grounds. I hope you liked the area, it's a bit flat and kind of laid back but not too bad of a place to visit. In that car scene when I was in it, there were so many amazing and surprising builds there.

The motor and exhaust notes sound perfect, I don't think you could do it any better than this.
Beautiful car, sweeet sounding. AllPro Subaru in Alpharetta, GA was doing a STI conversion of one of these a couple years ago. Sold my '02 WRX last year that I bought new, 208K miles. Had some issues the last 70K but I figure that's the cost of keeping the car you love for 17 years. Replaced with it's '05 twin.

Always thought the rear end of the RS lacked a bit in aggressive-ness compared to the front! It’s a little unconventional, but I think the aftermarket tail lights I ended up putting on mine add just the right amount of “oomph” to it
Tbh this body style was the first car I ever became obsessed with but the 4 door sti. Like kid me was in awe when one of those drove by me for the first time, the sound and the dark green factory colour with those iconic gold rims.
This and the hatchback are my favorite subies, great build and great video!
Just bought my RS yesterday and love it!
I could never make a car this clean and subtle with the most rare items. (I love it) Ill look from a distance. Im too accustomed in my shit box.

I'm sorry, maybe an unpopular opinion, but i can't get behind the one headlight is an intake thing. it looks stupid. don't get me wrong, i love this car! but that kills it for me. just my opinion.
That black headlight looks like a patch, I imagine the Subaru saying something like “ You see what happened to me? An Evo did this to me while street racing”
If Subaru released this car today, I would 100% buy it. I want a GC8 in this color with the gold BBS rims. Throw in a FA24 motor too and I'm sold. Dream car, dream goals.

This isnt jdm. And if it was he wouldnt be able to do a hood exit anyways since the clutch master cylinder is in the way. No room to flip the downpipe and youd need to have extremely restricted size of piping just to go around it unless u did a relocation
@@no_sleep_yx3 sir......Subaru is a car manufacturing division of a huge Japanese transportation conglomerate called Fuji Heavy Industries, that would make them JDM. Yes a lot of subarus are assembled in the US now like Acura which is also considered JDM. And having little room has rarely stopped someone from doing what they want to do to their car. This person just rather the clean look which is what i was appreciating.
jamaicanlovrboy jdm is japanese domestic market. Thats made in japan for japanese regulations. Meaning it has to be built in japan to their specs (vehicle would have to be right hand drive)

ive almost got my 02 legacy up to 300whp 330lbft with a single cam forged sti hybrid build. I am using the rs single cam heads with forged 257 block. Its a freaking blast and hardly anyone boosts the 3rd gen legacy so its nice to have something thats different
This probably won't happen, as its lower than the Evo, but I'd love to see a Lancer GTS reviewed. (Yes, the reason I ask it because I have a GTS, I 'd just like to hear his thoughts on them)

The key to this body style is two major things Subaru has not figured out to replicate again. The weight and the visibility. The engineering has improved interior parts, stiffer frames. They couldn’t get the light weight and visibility again. Is a true classic not to mention it’s a coupe.

The best subaru body style. This build is awesome.
I got a 16 sti & as nice as it is to have had a warranty I often think I would enjoy an older model more. Part of what I liked about my current sti is it feels like driving an older car but it feels a bit big. The older body style was so simple, something many car companies have moved away from. I never noticed before but it kind of resembles a Corolla from the early 90's with a thicker booty.
I used to own a 94 Subaru legacy turbo and it was so fun to drive and the noise of the turbo was so pure. I had to get rid of it cus it was impossible to find even basic parts. I now own a 2013 Cadillac ATS with the 4 banger turbo and even though it’s much faster it’s not as fun to drive and I find myself missing that old bucket from time to time😁
I have a 00 rs coupe NA screamer set up for the road, and a 95 impreza wagon thats for rallycross. These cars are ridiculously fun, they can take a beating and are still winning rallies around the world

Being from Europe that styling is part of the reason why I disliked the bugeye when it came out. At least initially. Now I like the bugeye because I am stateside and the bugeye was the first wrx in the US. Go figure. But the 2.5RS with an STI swap? Yes please. So much yes. Over all the subies that would be the one I would like best. I still snap my neck when I see a 2.5 RS.

You can’t trust those EJ25s. Mine blew up and all it took was 300,000 miles, forgetting to change the oil for far too long, and redlineing it.
I just sold my 600 whp gc8 . That was on pump gas an low boost haha estimated should have made 800hp street daily. I miss it now

Mmm I would caution against "checking out" off the line performance. My cousin took his car there for a big turbo/ engine build and they had his car for TWO YEARS!! it was stored outside the entire time. To add insult to injury, he suffered catastrophic failure on the way home from des moines to eastern Iowa. My cousin contacted them about it and they "declined" to stand behind their work. I helped my cousin pull his engine after the fact and They didn't even bother to clean the engine bay before they threw the engine in! There were still dried clumps of mud from three years ago on top of the engine cross member. Shitty workmanship everywhere, FPR was held in place zip tied to the main harness, shit like that. When I pulled the spark plug out of cylinder #1, coolant came pouring out. When I drained the oil, it looked like a caramel milk shake. I feel really bad for my cousin because I pulled him into the Subaru scene and his experience with Justin and Off the line is absolutely disgraceful.
I'm sure justin takes very good care of his own car and his high profile customers with alot of social media clout, but he certainly didn't give a fuck about average guys like my cousin.
I know nothing about this, no one has contacted me so this is pretty interesting!

@@Jnorth85TheRsti which part? The two years? I was there. The filthy cross member? I was there. The FPR zip tied to the engine starter wiring? I was there. The coolant pouring out of cylinder #1? I was there. Literally NOTHING I said is untrue.
Cody Nieman it due to lack of payment, so talk to him about that. It was filthy from rallycrossing it. The coolant i have no idea about because i never saw it. It made 20 pulls on the dyno and I personally drove it. What happened when it left is outside of my control.

Stock location turbo doesn’t sound and different nor would it work superior to something like a rotated or front mount if proper design is assumed and I think you’re mis understanding what you’re trying to convey which is a missed point all together really. Stock location setups typically limit the induction size to 3” which would work against that FO zero anyways so again, in no way is stock location superior to a less restrictive rotated orientation or relocation. Would be nice to see more technically accurate information come through this platform and am happy to contribute to such a cause

🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 such a Subie nut!!! My 97 OBS would be such a sweet 1st gen WRX clone, but goin forester swap (struts, etc.) for a fun off-roader/ ultra mild sleeper (low boost Amazon turbo special, it is still a stock 2.2 open deck block, after all). Keep the Subie vids coming!!!
Looking forward to see where OEM Type-R STIs are going on the market once theyre 25. Here in Europe you can only have a 2 door impreza by importing a Type-R or 22b from Japan so theyre very rare. Even if america got a crappy engine, youre used to the body so maybe the real oldschool STIs wont be as sought after in US?
