In fact the song deals of a Viking princess (Anne-Lise), daughter of Erik the Red, who's going to america to mary an indian fighter without her father's benediction ! The last words talks of cries of joy from the people there and of the bed made from bisons skins on the new land of Anna !

I'm french and I'm here because I understood nothing of what the singer of Therion said in the first two lines ;)
I really thought she was singing in another language, but that's just because her french wasn't good...
Anyway, the Therion's cover kicks ass!!!

it's "Pour la lune nouvelle elle se mariera/Un guerrier Seminole l'attend là bas" and "De grandes peaux de bisons morts seront son premier lit/Sur la terre nouvelle qu'Anna a choisi."...
also the chorus is "Wahala Manitou Wahala Manitou/La fille d'un roi viking épouse un guerrier Sioux" apparently the lyrics are about Freydís Eriksdottir falling in love with a native american warrior, although the song calls her "Anna".

It's a poetic way to describe the love story of a woman who goes in America, I guess. The terms/words are a little bit strange.
Even for a native french speaker, it's really hard to understand, so I've done my best...

Some words in this song are different from the transcript. It should be "Anna lisse" instead of "Anna-Lise"; "le peuple" instead of "le père"; "des bateaux" instead of "du bâton"; and also I think "bisons compagnons" instead of "hissez compagnons".
By the way, lyrics of Therion version is different from the original song. For example, "cris de détresse", "bisons noir" and some words which I haven't managed to understand.

Alors c'est des bâtons sanglants et non des bâteaux!
Je pense qu'elle fait référence aux totems de guerre des indiens, en général on attachait les prisonniers et on les scalpait.
A moins que je ne me plante!
C'est vrai, cette histoire de vikings ayant été en Amérique avant les hispaniques? :O Mais alors la culture amérindienne serait en partie nordique? Ou ils n'ont rien fait là-bas?

Mais en fait, peut-être qu'ils n'ont pas compris la version de Léonie non plus :P
Alors pour le remplacement du mot "Islande", je crois que la chanteuse dit "plus loin que l'étendard" (mais c'est vraiment bizarre).
Pour l'intro, ils ont dû se dire que ça faisait français XD
En fait, j'ai du mal quant à la cohérence de la chanson. En gros, c'est la fille de Eric le rouge, un barbare, qui se marie avec un indien d'Amérique?

T'inquiètes, j'ai essayé aussi.
Par contre là tout de suite y'a un truc qui me choque:
à 1:24 elle se met à raconter des trucs juste après Wahala Manitou (on dirait qu'elle dit: "rois maudits", "Bélénos" et "Guerrier chien" ouais c'est nul mais ça ressemble à rien de toutes façons. Bref j'avais pas entendu ça la première fois, et therion l'ont même pas repris. Elle dit quoi?
D'ailleurs Therion a modifié les paroles?
Pour les cris c'est bien d'allégresse, sûre.

Mais en fait je ne savais même pas que les vikings avaient été chrétiens.
J'avais un parallélisme foireux à faire, stupide au possible, mais j'allais dire qu'ils ont repris leur comportement vis-à-vis de la religion dans Skyrim ^^' ils continuent leur culte tout en faisant mine d'appartenir à la religion la plus étendue à travers le monde.
Bon, ok, alors une question: j'avais entendu dire que les vikings n'étaient pas vraiment de sanglants guerriers mais plutôt des commerçants. C'est vrai?
Ah merde justement je croyais que ça allait être sans notions chrétiennes... Bon ben tant pis alors! ^^
