Onewheel Tips for Trail and Off-Road Success!

- I join a last minute mini group ride through some muddy trails. I also share some tips for off-road Onewheel riding success. I took my Onewheel XR on this ride. There's no way a Onewheel Pint would have made it on this ride. Too long and probably too gnarly.
Please remember to ride respectfully: respect the trail, the environment, and any that you may come across so we can be good ambassadors of the personal electric vehicle movement.

What a trip!
that's an understatement!
Excelllent!
Impressive
Lol duf your right Didn't see the money shot but i did see the muddy shot lol, cool trail ride video! looked like lots of awesome fun
Don't for get
1) XLR Cover (keeps the mud out)
2) Power Button cover (keeps the mud out)
3) Get a magnetic fender, for easy removal and cleaning while you go
4) Small brush go help clean as you go.
Have Fun.
Noice video! Do you think the pint would have made it? Also do you use kinemaster for editing videos (if yes, then which device do you use?)? Keep up the cool videos!
Fun ride bud, was waiting for the money shot though, the clean up afterward. :)
Funny thing is my son had just cleaned that board after getting it dirty from the how to 180 vid and the very next day I do this ride. I'm done with cleaning for now. I let the mud dry. Then I do a bunch of jump mounts to shake it off.
@@freshlycharged After watching htis i immediately ordered a burris one wheel treaded tire. :) do you have any water treatment on your board ? I am clear 3m taping any non vent ports when i get mine, water is my greatest fear though ive seen plenty get soaked and still work fine. Looking forward to joining the Family of floaters, I may have some worthy mods to add after i familiarize myself with the board. Ive already built a fairly light and stable portable charger based on the specs available for the one wheel ( I already owned 3 12 amp 18 volt Milwaukee battery's and a charge controller so it was pretty easy. I need a resistance load from the One wheel to check for sure.
... Mine should be here may th.
I realize Im kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released series online?
Wow what a beautiful trail
The scenery was amazing! Too bad I was completely focused on not falling and watching the trail right in front of me to enjoy the views most of the time.
That looks like an amazing day riding!! Wow 👍🏼
I’ve been a mountain biker on the Front Range for 13 years and although you guys probably didn’t cause much trail damage, there is a whole community of trail users that would absolutely not condone what I see here. There is a danger of a severe backlash against Onewheel trail users which would completely restrict us and expose us to new park regulations/fines. I have seen this happen to Mountain bikers and drone pilots. My advice is to join a trail advocacy group, perform trail maintenance, and build an alliance that would include and protect Onewheel trail users.
Great advice Chuck. I have no real mountain bike experience. Where do you suggest we start?
@@freshlycharged On Facebook, there are several Trail advocacy groups that you should join. Be aware that although there are a lot of mountain bikers, most are unaware of "proper trail etiquette" and that has led to many restrictions on where we can ride. You will find now that mountain bikers are probably the biggest trail maintenance and building groups on the Front Range. Building the community and promoting ways for different trail users to coexist has let to increased access to trails in recent years. Some trails now are mountain bike or hiking specific while others are mixed use. WARNING: The dark side is that the mountain biking community has now fully assimilated into being "good trail citizens" after many years of hard work. They will quickly move to condemn Onewheels if there are flagrant violations of park regulations or evidence of unacceptable trail usage. "303 Trail Monitor" facebook.com/groups/303TrailConditions is the one group you should definitely join. A few things to absolutely NOT show pictures or videos of, or say that you are: jumping trail closure gates, riding muddy trails, or riding off trail. facebook.com/groups/colorowdies, facebook.com/groups/COMBAcommunity, facebook.com/groups/COMTBGroup, facebook.com/groups/denvertrailrunners
Thanks Chuck! I'll definitely be looking into this. We meant no harm but we could definitely use some educating on trail etiquette. My fear is that I get on that forum and the next thing I know I'm getting into the support of mountain biking. 😁
@@freshlycharged Mountain biking is very healthy! Are you on FB? Let's keep talking. Although I'm calling myself a Onewheel rider, my new XR+ is waiting to be picked up at FedEx right now! I couldn't wait until July to get the 2 Pints, I ordered.
Congrats on the XR! I just taught another friend this weekend and we loved it. Just take it easy no matter how comfortable you feel. Join the Denver Onewheel Mob in FB and you'll find me there.
A most excellent video Jimmy! 🤙🏼🤓
Great video, loved the scenery. Some light trail off roading is definitely on my to do list. Can’t get those views without going off the paved path!
Man....these are so rad! And this video is so clear and crisp! Great job....and looked like a hell of a lot of fun....I think I will still get the pint though, I don't need to spend for the full blown one. Very, very cool though.
Thanks man! Ton of fun. It was a nice sunny day so the video turned out pretty good.
@@freshlycharged Quick question...not sure if it was you or someone else in the video mentioned....something along the lines of.... "....this would not have worked with a Pint...". I'm curious about that remark....do you know if the reason for that comment was based on range? Or are there other differences between the XR and the Pint in terms of torque required to get through mud and grass, uphill, etc. Not sure if enough is really known about the Pint yet to make those comparisons...maybe not until they start shipping ....thoughts?
Dope! Looks fun! Keep up the great work Jimmy!
Thanks Rick!
Thanks man! Nicely put together and I enjoyed 'joining' your ride...
Thanks for coming along!
Thanks for taking us along Jimmy!
Nicely put together!
Great day Jimmy you crushed some serious stuff!! ➖⚫️➖
Jonathan Stock I got the bonk!!!! 😜👌
Personally I don’t think I’ll take mine in mud lol good to know it can take it though
Looks like you had a great time, awesome man! Great video as always!
I liked, I have a question, what’s means (wheel sleep ) in the app?
Jimmy what are those rubber type bumpers on the side of the rails?
really cool video man.
I wonder how the EUC would have faired on this trail. The thinner tire will sink faster in mud, but I think the power, size, and clearance would have triumphed. It might've have taken a bit longer for the mud to cake up on an EUC as well.
Once I get more proficient on the EUC, I'll try it out on a dry day.
2:58 u nailed it bro. Sound effect did best :)👍👍🔥🤣
Nice! Now I KNOW I need those mud tires on my scoot.
FYI Riding a trail wet/ muddy is a good way to ruin it. Wet spots people go around creating off shoots or riding through makes them deeper snd bigger snd they hold more water creating. Offer areas of destruction . It’s best to not ride mud but let it dry for the future of the trails sake. And those that take care of or maintain from them. Yeah it’s no fun but it’s the reality of it.
That the “kick some a$&”song in the beginning ?Lol
But you all had fenders😂
Where is this at!
That looks awesome and it's right by my house. Would you recommend the pint or the XR for trail rides?
@Jimmy Chang
Dude, definitely the XR, for not only the battery life but for the power needed for the terrain. 🤙🏼💯
@@calypsodw thanks .... Ya I got an xr....love it. I haven't done any off road yet except some grass here and there.
This makes me want to upgrade my VEGA slick tire for a Hoosier treaded one. My board is slippery on grass and wet trails but still can't get enough of the great spring riding!
I'm all stock VEGA. Too cheap to upgrade my tire when it works fine enough for me. The other tires do feel nice though.
How did you find your fellow one wheelers ? Any suggestion on finding other riders?
In the app you can look who is around you
Awesome!
will mud damage anything?
excellent ! ca c'est une bonne sortie en onewheel :-)
This is my fav video and funny enough a fender is a must when you're riding in mud #onewheel
Courteous???
3:00 LOL!!!!
How many miles did you guys cover?
My guess is probably 10 miles.
Looks like a great ride! Serious question, how DO you get the onewheel clean afterwards? Or does it never really get clean again? I'm so interested in beach and trail riding, but I;m afraid to really get my new XR filthy like that...
I just wait until it dries out and then scrub it off and use a damp rag and a soft brush.
Just like ag said. Cleaning it is not a problem. Sean was riding a brand new XR on this one. What a way to break it in. This is how I clean mine: oneradwheel.com/how-to-dry-clean-your-onewheel/
How to clean onewheel. Never cleaned my onewheel. Since i have got one.
Is the treaded wheel that much better for offroad/mudroad? Will it combat wheel slip better that Vega?
People that ride the threaded tires love them. I'm too cheap to get a new tire until I need a tire change.
What cactus did plug in at???
This is for the second chance for the onewheel contour fender giveaway. I still love this video and it helped me out a lot when I went off-roading through a muddy trail. Forgot my screwdriver though to get the mud off. #onewheel
Again and again buddy if Future Motion doesn't pick you back up with this enjoyable ride in Littleton there is something wrong with them😎👍.
Nice film....
Park at South Valley Park parking lot. Take the road/paved trail towards the Lockheed Martin complex. Jump the fence. Have fun!
@@freshlycharged
Jump the fence.....hahahaha
So criminal to have a BLAST 😀👌
AGAIN AS USUAL ANOTHER TERRIFIC VIDEO JIM👍
Your videos are getting me closer than ever before to a One Wheel XR
Why did 22 people dislike
wow !!! how many miles was that ride ? will OneWheelPint also work like that or not even close ?
Not sure how long the ride was. I came late and didn't turn on my app or track the ride as I was too busy trying to find the guys. The others had XRs that were low on battery at the end though.
@@freshlycharged oh thank u for the reply :) My parents might get me One Wheel Pint because they said its appropriate for 13 yo boy. Maybe when i"m older, XR will become cheaper ! :)
Hey homie! Does mud and water ever become a problem? It does run on electricity so can water short it out? Or is it totally water proof?
Any preventative measures like maybe a can of food grade silicone waterproof sealant? Just something I was thought experimenting about.
Thank you 🙌
The thing is water resistant but not water proof. There are some after market waterproofing kits but I have not done it. I won't ride it in heavy rain or if the streets are really wet.
Are the Onewheel`s still working? It was some hefty trail riding, and the boards was pretty `muddy` ;)
But can you maby make a video were you clean your board? And maby give some tips!😄
All still working. Sean cleaned his board and it was looking like new. I just let the mud dry on mine then did a bunch of jump mounts and curb drops to shake off the debris. Still not clean but good enough.
So does this mean...that there's nothing wrong with the "onewheel"(always the rider). Take water..for the MUD..& a rope...(tow)..
"Blood on the trail" reminded me of the dead Native Americans this country slaughtered. Thought you were going to mention that.
One extra tip: don’t nag your friends or give them a hard time.
