Why do you continue to throw?
Because it keeps me Fit ... And push me to do overall fitness drills in one go😊
I continue to throw because I know there’s still work to be done.
In 8th grade I was built like a twig, but I knew if I kept showing up to practice, started lifting, and was a student of the sport I could do better than last season.
After throwing all 4 years of high school I thought I was done in the ring, but I realized I put way to much effort into the sport to stop where I was.
To this day at 19 in college, I keep learning about how to be a better thrower.
I don’t know when the journey will end, but I know throwing won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Because it’s about more than ‘throwing.’ Personal growth from the sport adds immeasurable value to the overall quality of my life. Discipline and determination despite the odds or factors working against you. Proving to yourself and to everyone who doubts you that you are capable of great things. The community you become part of and the camaraderie you create. Learning to grind and continue to push and believe in yourself even when you literally might be the only one that does. Why do you continue to do anything at all? You have to be doing everything in life for a reason, or else you’re just wasting your time.
I throw because it’s fun
All you need is to attach rocket boosters to what you’re throwing
The greatest ever quote I heard at a training camp when I was a teenager was from javelin thrower Mick HIll at Crystal Palace: "Practice makes permanent."
Basically, keep experimenting. You never know what logical changes will bring positive gains.
Awesome seeing him throw this & listening to Alex! I continue to throw at 60 cos I think I'm not done throwing far, this is just what I needed to keep going, thanks Dane & thanks Alex!
Thank you for posting this. Sending it to all my athletes, its been something I've been trying to teach and I just couldn't find the right words to do it.
Love your style Alex. Malo le onasa’i uso.
I get to see him at meets and at our practice facility, he’s such a fun athlete to be around and a good example for my teammates and I! It’s just a bonus that he’s this good. He still needs some pitties tho😂
