Lyrics:
Oh my my, oh I guess
That I've done my time, now I've laid to rest
There’s a campfire inside my soul
And it billows
And the sky was a thousand years old
Always kept time in my back pocket
No man, goddamn, came to take my soul
Shut the door, then lock it
And where have all of my friends gone
And where did all of my friends go
And where have all of my friends gone
They billow
Thought that I saw Jessi, she was sitting in a crowd
Thought that I saw Jessi, then I got to feeling proud
To ever have known someone so pretty and so sweet
Who every-time she sang a song it'd sweep me off me feet
But oh my my, oh I guess
That she did her time, now she's laid to rest
There’s a campfire inside her soul
Still billows
Lay your head on my pillow
There's a fire inside you, and that’s why you billow
Stay calm, stay calm, and give me your palm
A song, a song for you
I walked to town, devil one side of me
Held by an angel put poems inside of me
Down to my mouth said won’t you recite to me, okay
Every first Wednesday there goes that sound again
Sun’s going down and she's a sundowner
Stay calm, stay calm, and give me your palm
Give me your palm, and I’ll sing you a song
Young kids smoke cigarettes out on the avenue
Sun’s going down so you might as well have a few
Hey who are you? Did you hear the news?
Anthony's dead, and Poor Richard too.
They billow, they billow, and it makes me nervous
They whittled a fiddle from wood in our service
Now that it’s dusk, kids scatter the avenue
Hey who are you? I'm a sundowner too

Karen, check out his song 'piss river'it is astounding,
@@ryanlane5073 I did excellent thank you..
you all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can give me
god bless you ma'am. I wish you a peaceful and beutiful life. I hope to be as lively and explore music if I hopefully reach your age. I'm 19 but my grandpa and grandma are always stuck on songs of their time, they never want to explore todays music. Bless you ma'am have a good day!
Word!!!
English is not my native language, yet I am struck by each of his song's poetry.
it's unhealthy how many times I watched the part with waxahatchee standing by the car
Kevin Morby rolls the rock. Dig your music brother. God bless all you Morby Fans.
Or Kevin's rock is on an unstoppable roll.
This song is an incredible poem, and the music video is the perfect accompaniment. I can't stop watching it, the connection between the two of them is beautiful.
🙏🙏🙏
There is something wistful in these songs, a bittersweet memory. I feel it.
I just took an epic road trip to the southwest and Kevin Morby, especially this song, provided the perfect soundtrack. On our way back we went thru Kansas and to the exact spot this video was filmed. Castle Rock. Such a beautiful place. We were the only two people there and relived the video. Amazing place.
Love how he keeps bringing back the reference to 'billowing', how it means one thing from the campfire, and makes him nervous when its the kid's cigarettes. This is one of the few albums I've heard in a while where I don't skip any of the songs. Just beautiful poetry and simple but melodic song writing. Music has been needing something like this.
Seeing Kevin Morby live at Union Transfer in Philly yesterday was an absolute dream. I've never felt such a soul connection to an artist's music the way I do his. I only knew him from the Babies and only recently discovered his solo work 🤯. I went to see his concert immediately. Kevin Morby's voice and lyrics have been there for me in both the dark and the light times and I am so grateful for that experience to see him. His voice is unique, lyrics are beautiful. And when he plays live, it seems that his ego takes a back seat. It's all about the music and the (big magical!) vibe..... Don't mean to gush here but the love and appreciation are real!!! 😊💖✨. Happy to see other big fans as well :)
absolutely, the live perfomance and that energy blew me away, can't wait to visit another show here in europe 🤟
This guy just gets better & better. Love the vibe, the lyrics, the outback setting.
Nunchuck appearance.
I have no idea how many times I've heard this song. It's just so beautiful
I love all of your music so much. It's like a poem sang to me each time I listen to one. You're amazing! 🙏❣️
So happy for this dude.
I used to see him live with his band The Babies 10+years ago. His vocals here bring me back.
If you like Kevin check out "Get Lost" and "Alligator"
Hi sundowner, where can I find these?

Oh if life could be this simple
It should be and be
Bud, all you need are guitar skills, a classic pickup, and Katie Crutchfield. Boom.

I feel like Kevin Morby is so underrated…
3:04 the moment I've been waiting for since the song has begun
absolutely amazing, seriously the most talent and beautiful artist.
your songs have soul, brother, always stay peaceful✌
U mind telling what genre this would fall under? Excuse my ignorance
@@infectedmuhrom6039 yeah no problem, falls under the category badass laid back chill music...👍🏼
I am a (not-so-young) kid smoking cigarettes on Bolivar avenue in Paris, France when discovering this lovely tune.
Hits home.

@@feliskeviticus keep it up frérot, je commence pour ma part à vraiment doucement tomber en amour avec la disco de Kevin, dans laquelle je serais donc rentré de façon enfin sérieuse grâce à cet album, et j'en suis très heureux ...
now that's it's dusk, kids scatter the avenues, hey who are you, i'm a sundowner too ... whoooooo!
this line gimme the same vibe as The National track Geese of Beverly Roads, about kids and love, even though the topic is here very different overall
Heard this on Sierra Radio last night. Just a perfect song as I was watching the sun set over the Sierras. Amazing tune.
Outstanding. I went to the same high school as kevin and his songs bring me back to my roots somehow. I left KC a long time ago but his music always makes me remember.
Beatles, Dylan, Stones, Rev John Misty and Jeff Buckley all rolled into one! Class act!!
Can't stop listening to this, got me hyped for the next album
To me, this is perfection.
That whoo ! After the final verse..damn ...it really gets me Kevin is amazing ...
Him and his nunchucks always make me smile
I'm happy to hear some 'Singing Saw' vibes. Back to your roots, I am looking for that new record.
The thing i like about your music is the nice way it makes me feel when i listen to your music that i like.
Terrific! You two are my power couple. Katie is a national treasure.
I made my cousins get up early to go to desert daze to catch Kevin Morbys set and it was fantastic! Was such a beautiful morning.
😍
Glad I was watching the CBS This Morning show today, or I would have never known about this awesome talent.
Following!
Very, very nice - 'cause U play with the soul, not for the sell
You brought me here...
=)

Amazing video and song. First time hearing you and love your sound. My son sent it to me because he recognized the location of the video. My home town and we often spent time out at Cattle Rock.
castle rock?
Dylan with that 70's voice...
Totally! Also Lou reed & cohen
So excited for his show tmrw night in Woodstock! First time seeing him live! Feel so close to this song and video after playing it repeatedly on a recent southwest roadtrip and going to the exact spot it was filmed which is called Castle Rock in Kansas. Woohoo
He happens to be playing in my city tonight, saw him on "what's in my bag", now I'm in a rabbit hole and I just got tickets for his show.
This video made me cry for love lost. 💔
Wow man this guy's is amazing. Like he makes my emotions into poetry
Phew! I'm falling in love watching them while they're falling in love with each other. I forgot how great that felt till now.
that "whoop!" gets me every time.
First guitar bit sounds exactly like Dont Let Me Down by The Beatles! I like it!
I like Kevin Morby. His songs are interesting (tempo changes, abrupt pauses, etc.), his lyrics are oddly particular ("every first Wednesday"), and his visuals starkly American (everything seen here). This makes for really unique yet still universally relevant themes. Sometimes his performativity is overdone and I can't follow, but that's OK. He's going for something. All of these things are embodied in this song and video. Looking forward to the rest of the record.

Damn!! I played this on accident and it’s really good!
What a beautiful video! Saw Kevin live in Paradiso last year and I can't wait to hear some of the songs of his new album live!
Maron brought me here! This Morby situation all week on IG live was something. Is that how he ended up on the show?? Great exposure cause I had no idea who he was and this is the first song I listened to and it’s right up my alley.
Amazing!
Pretty sure Malick's "Badlands" was inspirational in this. Good stuff!
I want what they have. Also want his denim look. Also her tattoos. Also, is it intentionally same model but different color truck!
Finally, a song about me ♡
Great !!! Thx from france
READY TO MEET YOU AGAIN IN PORTLAND, OREGON ! THE SHOW WAS TOO GOOD !
Beating Heart to the rhtym of your Songs, always. Thanks Kevin
Desert music videos, so hot right now. For the last 30 years at least.
Beautiful clip. Beautiful song. Beautiful love that you & Katie share.
New favorite, great, and the best. What a nice place with the great stone.
I love you so much. Your songs are light in my life. You put your heart and soul in these damn songs.
Kevin repeats, repeats, repeats...I think especially lyrically...but always with enough freshness for it to work. It's like he took the good lessons possible from Gertrude Stein. CS
I dont find this song repetitive
it's like this vision i have of what america is like as a whole
the sundowners in their natural habitat
i wonder if it's still like that out there, sometimes. I wonder.
He has that incredible unique voice, very distinctive......
Your happiness is our joyfulness. 🔥
Also, you should listen to the version of this song on his "four track demo" (from a night at the little Los Angeles)... it's a little bit more slowed down and stripped down, but packs just as much, if not more, raw emotion.
Way to Rock the Castle my friend! Beautiful.
Beautiful song and video. Jessi Zazu forever
Saw you perform this live with Elizabeth Moen last week. You could hear a pin drop during her verse. Absolutely beautiful live performance you put together.
