Good video, but I just want to respectfully point out that the title is a bit misleading. Quebecois cuisine and culture shouldn't be confused with "Canadian" cuisine and culture. They are independant of one another. You do not find in the rest of Canada what you find in Montreal and vice versa. Quebecois cuisine and culture is of course what the inheritors of New France are, and the people who identify as Canadian today are the British descendants in NA. Montreal and its food scene are very much of the Quebecois culture. It can be a bit confusing because the original Canadians were today's Quebecois, but that's simply because the name was appropriated as well ...
Lobster Spaghetti 70 dollars? What a ripoff. Any restaurant on Notre-Dame street and St.Laurent Blvd(Little Italy) is a ripoff, and made for suckers. Btw, next-time, go to a fish store and buy your lobster there, for 70 dollars, you could have more than 3, 1lb 1/2 lobsters. If you need advice about the best hidden restaurant gems in Montreal, I'll tell you where they are located, for sure, they are not where you went.

I never had a bad smoked meet sandwich in my native Montreal, all deli's places that I go to for smoked meat, are good. You have the right to tell the waiter or waitress how you want your smoked meat, if they don't give it the way you want it, just leave. Stay away from restaurants in Old Montreal, Notre-Dame street, and Italian restaurants, especially in Little Italy. These restaurants are all overrated, expensive, and with small portions. Stay away from Marche Jean-Talon, another ripoff place. Montreal is also known for their great Hot-Dogs(Chien-Chaud) institutions. I'm glad you went to icon places in Montreal in your other video. PLease do not confuse Canadian (rest of canada) to Quebec culinary iconic dishes.... the ROC took not only our name (Quebecois were called Canadians while hte rest of Canada were still calling themselves British citizens)... our patriot anthem twarp to O Canada... and outside of Nanaimo bars, most ''Canadian'' cuisine is from Quebec.... very thankful for Quebec for having real culture infused in so many areas...
You keep complaining of insufficient salt; that is easily remedied, but the reverse, for folks on low sodium diets, or those with a differing palet... Less is better and, the mark of a 1st rate Chef!

Every Friday we went out till 3 am. Then hit the smoke meat. Messy but unbelievably good and a line up out the door.

Lester's is not "Montreal Style" smoke meat, it is more rubbery rather than more textured like Schwartz, The Main, Smoke Meat Pete's or Dunn's.

ONE SUGGESTION ABOUT OUR MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT SANDWICH. IT'S BEST EATEN WITH MEDIUM FAT. THAT'S WHERE THE FLAVOR IS!!
