This is why I like Maher. He's not afraid to talk to the other side and after the debate is done he shakes their hand and doesn't let it get too personal. We need more of that.

What was that controversy at the time? Something about Geraldo claiming he was at a friendly fire incident...which turned out to be 300 miles away at the time he claimed to be there. Then he claimed to have misspoke, said he meant to say it was a different incident...which happened to occur 3 days after he made his comments? I may have the details wrong, but he was caught in more than one whopper.
To be fair he didn't use it to get out of anything, just his usual slimy attempt to appeal to people..

J. Ascension Yep, he can't disconnect how Trump has treated him over the years versus how Trump treats other people. It's why Bill's comparison with OJ was on point. Many people have said great things about how OJ personally treated them. I know Howard Stern spoke numerous times about how nice OJ was to him. But that's irrelevant when you know he has a history of beating women and eventually murdered to people. OJ wasn't the first person to present a very friendly public persona while being an absolute piece of shit privately.
But the amazing thing about Trump is that he doesn't even hide that he's a piece of shit and Geraldo refuses to see that. Just look at how Trump speaks about women that criticize him. Or the infamous "grab'em by the pussy" comment. I'd say it's a combination of their decades long friendship and him being a regular guest on a show that's Trump is known to watch (Fox and Friends). But there was no evidence that Trump threaten Stormy Daniels, choosing to believing that one did, based on how you feel about that person, would not holdup in a court of law. Where as in OJ's case there was all kinds of evidence that proved his guilt, there was no need for feelings or ones beliefs to influence the case, the evidence spoke for itself. Bill Maher can believe whatever he wants to believe, but is it right for him to tell his audience that he believes that Trump hired someone to threaten Stormy, without any evidence? Didn't MSNBC, CNN as well as others, believe Jussie Smollett story of Trump supporters attacking him, and the media blamed it all on Trump , without there being actual evidence to backup the claims. I also used to have some respect for Geraldo, but most of it went out the window after this interview. His pathetic pivoting to 9/11 and O.J. (or rather, failing to understand Maher's analogy) and his defense of Trump based on his personal relationship with him made him look like a regular Fox And Friends host. I'm also surprised he used the fact-free talking point about black unemployment as it's widely known outside the Trump bubble that the job growth has pretty much continued in the same rate or even declined compared to Obama's last seven years, both among blacks and the general population. Perhaps Trump should get credit for not destroying the steady job growth after one year in office, but not for improving it. I'm glad Maher called out Geraldo's bullshit and I laughed out loud when he said "who gives a shit?!" when Geraldo started talking about his Apprentice appearance and how nice Trump has been to his family. "...he's running the world now, why does it matter that he was nice to you at Thanksgiving?". :) Trump has demonstrably lied over 2000 times since taking office so it's totally irrelevant (and highly unlikely) that he never lied to Geraldo personally.
And Geraldo is supposedly a reporter, yet he totally made up something in talking about OJ saying they had his bloody fingerprints, they didn't. It was reported that there were bloody fingerprints at the scene but it was never collected, so we really don't know who it belonged to. He is Fox News to the core, make up things (lie) to suit their agenda.
Geraldo was fantastic on CNN. Actually, he surprised me cause his daytime show was cheesy. This interview made me cringe. Yes, I can hear people say in years to come, "Geraldo who??"
