I saw Jacob's 2:30AM show there so this must've been after since he was accepting TWO(!) Grammy Awards on stage in LA like 12-hours later? I supposed only Jacob Collier and Larnell Lewis would have the stamina for a 15-minute ad hoc (mini-electronic-instrument) jam at that hour after the day they both just had. :-O Anyone else pick up that he's quoting his own tune "Saviour" from his release In My Room in the jam? :-) Anyone else notice his technical sideman Ben Bloomberg walk across the background? :-) Any else notice Snarky Puppy percussionist Nate Werth come through the background in the last few minutes of the video, shake his head in astonishment, and then re-appear to video the ending? :-) This is a virtual CLINIC in live de-quantization while maintaining a consistent pulse underneath. OMG thank you so much for capturing this -- a RUclips video that will become legendary.
Parts of this remind me of the interaction between Frank Zappa and Vinnie Colaiuta on While You Were Out from Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar. Jacob is a true genius.
Dare I say that my biggest respect goes to the people in this video who are actually LISTENING to the music in that moment, without the urge to take any videos, photos, or otherwise check their phones for texting.
I just feel like I don't belong here. Like I am watching stuff not meant for me. Like when I was a child, and the grown ups were discussing stuff, and telling me to leave the room. I know it is stupid, but I seriously feel strangely misplaced. This is so beyond me, and I can't even enjoy it. They look at each other in mutual agreement or amusement at particular times, and I am just: What??!? What did I miss?
I feel this way most of the time with a lot of stuff like this. It is technically rich, but from an audible perspective not always as interesting and pleasant.
They're being affected by the feeling and being in sync like when people hang out and just shoot the shit, joking around. It's like being tickled instead of being some mind-blowing technical realization

You are assuming that I would care about not having seen this video man. Anyway, I insist, with one or two clips would be enough, in the aftermath they could share it. But there is something deeper behind this behavior and its related to individualism, consumption, social approval many many other dark topics.
I heard him at Ronnie Scott's in February - brilliant of course. But I suspect he'll make his career and fame in the States. Jacob responds to the upbeat optimism of America which you don't get in the UK. Plus, he's under the wing of Quincy Jones and that will lure him away from England. It depresses me when we lose our very best people. Just saying. :-)
