    Very good information. I have been ordering my own blood tests via online test sites for years now, and ordering the very tests Dr Ovadia recommends, through my own research over the years, and watching videos from many pro low carb/keto/carnivore doctors such as Ken Berry, Eric Westman and Ford Brewer.

    I order these labs from Own Your Labs. It was important to get a clear picture. having "Just Insulin resistance and previous fatty liver that I cleaned up without a doctor was not enough to have it covered on my plan. It was cheaper to get it done myself than pay a co-pay to my Primary Care who then may or may not do it...and it still wouldn't have been covered so I don't see the need to pay a primary care doctor to do nothing for me.

    On a carnivore diet for over a year. I’ve noticed (CGM) my b/s is elevated from 88 to 150 after eating protein. I’ve went from OMAD to 3 meals a day and its rise is much less -85 to 123. It goes back to mid 90s by 6pm. (120grams of protein). I’m wanting to eat 150grams but am worried about what it’s doing (making candy bars?) to me. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. I’ve had a similar concern. I was told by someone to increase my fat to protein ratio… Not easy to do without making a serious effort to tracking macros.

    Dr Ovadia, my HDL is 63, Trig is 72, LDL is 259, total cholesterol is 340, NON-HDL chol is 277, they are saying I have familial hypercholesterolemia…… they want me on statins which I have refused thus far. I am on blood pressure medication. I have been ketovore for about two years now, have lost 90 pounds, feel great, more energy for one thing, but worried about blood pressure. What do you suggest? I’ve got your book, and listen to whatever you put out on video, that I e found. I need a real doctor to help me find the root of my problems. Thanks for listening. 😊

    73 year old female
    After having stents put in, is it crucial in the first year to be on blood thinners (plavix and baby aspirin)?
    Every time I visit my doctor, my blood pressure is in the range of 120/80 now all of a sudden they’re trying to say I have high blood pressure and mostly because when they put the cuff on, they wrap it tight to the point of actual pain when it pumps up. So now I am on Motropropol
    Is there an alternative to pharmaceuticals to help?
    I have just finished your book, thank you for all the information.
    BTW on Medicare not sure what tests they would cover.

    Dr Ovadia, my Hdl is 113 and my Triglyceride is 68. So ratio is 0.6 which I know is very good. My total is 422 and ldl is 292 which freaks my Dr out! I'm ketovore with a 19 bmi so I guess I'm a lean mass hyper responder ❤ CRP IS 0.7. what do you think about my bloodwork?

    • @chermonfils
      @chermonfils 8 месяцев назад

      Yes, I’d be interested in the Drs. response too. My ratio is also around 0.6 (Trig 53/HDL 89), LDL is 164, total is 264. Like you, I’m ketovore going on 4 years, and my BMI is steady @ 19.9. At my last checkup, my doctor just looked at my LDL and total cholesterol, and told me I needed to reduce my fat intake significantly to try to get my cholesterol down right away. 🙄

    Is there any benefit to fasting before a blood test...more than just the "no food for 8 hours before blood draw). Will this skew cholesterol of any other markers one way or another if you fasted 24-48 hours before the testing?

    Right on the money! However if i may, in many cases at least initially one should also do a blood test of not just fasting insulin but also postprandial insulin. For people in pre diabetes stage that will show how much insulin does this person require after eating a carb meal. If the units are really elevated then you know there is hyper insulin. It happened to my newphew in india who was getting good blood glucose and A1C numbers but had very high triglycerides. His doctors were not testing for insulin but only giving more cholesterol lowering drugs. When he did the PP insulin it showed a very high insulin release

    Thanks Doc. Once having our Advance Lipid Panel results from outside lab do we go by the reference range they quote or are these numbers also not accurate and are made to prescribe meds? Just had mine done and still a lot of RED alert results. Been carnivore 14 months and got rid of 50 lbs. off all drugs and at 62 feeling like I did back in my 30's.

      @@IFixHearts Actually found an answer in JAMA (I am not looking for a doctor, just wondering in general) and I certainly think this is a general question that can be answered here. From JAMA: "A high level of LDL-C is not associated with the metabolic syndrome per se, and when a high LDL-C level is present with a low TG-high HDL-C level, the LDL particle is larger, more buoyant, and less easily oxidized and thus much less atherogenic."
