Fix-Audio Problems on Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 ?
Step 1: Go to the Desktop and Drag the mouse at the top right hand corner of computer screen in order to bring the charms menu and than click on Search ,and then Type "run" without quotes,click on it .This brings the run window .
Step 2: Type "compmgmt.msc" without quotes in run window ,and then click on Ok.
Step 3: Click on Services and applications at the left pane ,and then double click on "Services" .
Step 4: Find out Windows Audio and then select it and then restart the service.
Step 5: That's all .

As per the three preceding ''fix Win 8 audio problems'' this offered no help whatsovever.
.
I have audio, I just suddenly lost all frequencies below 500Hz (low-mid & bass frequencies). No amount of faffing about with these intructions - including reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers has solved the problem.
.
My Toshiba Satellite C855-TC1 audio output is routed direct to my Pioneer HiFi amp and until six hours ago was working fine, then I suddenly lose all low-end freqs, the amp also slaves-out to a Logitek desk set with sub-bass. Whichever, no low-end frequencies, rendering everthing to listening through a set of rusty bean cans.

It is so infuriating how there is absolutely no solutions anywhere online to solve this exasperating issue.

I run Win 8.1 I get an error in the lower right saying that the sound device is NOT working, yet when I try an audio file, it works fine. What causes windows to get this error? I've checked device manager and it always shows the device as working fine. It's just the notification in the lower right that shows an error.

Try going in your setup by pressing f9 or something while your computer is starting and then there you'll have to find two audio options make sure both are enabled
