    Yeah, people seem to forget how good 1974 was for Elvis. They only seem to remember September-October which is just an unbelievable difference from even mid-late August.

    • @ElvisistheMan_
      @ElvisistheMan_  4 года назад +8

      Yep... I made a video discussing that “Elvis: What happened: Summer 1974”

    • @grimbeornn
      @grimbeornn 4 года назад +10

      1974 Memphis Concert(Live on Stage) is probably one of the top 5 concerts of his career. But even this does not change the fact that the King died after Aloha, though. You can see this if you look his enthusiasm and movements at 74-75-76. Sad but true.

    • @FortunateDegree
      @FortunateDegree 4 года назад +14

      Grim Beorn I disagree. I would listen to/watch many concerts from 1974 over Aloha. While his voice is incredible, he is super nervous and has little energy from his diet he was on to lose weight. Anyways, of course there’s going to be a difference from 1970 to 1974, but he still acts the same and has a good amount of enthusiasm. He was just getting tired of singing the same songs over and over which is why he changed it on August 19, 1974. The crowd didn’t react well, and so that ultimately became his downfall (along with his divorce). Also, this is no comparison to 1975-1976. Even when he’s in top shape at the end of 1976, he’s still moving a lot more in 1974 than then.

      I saw Elvis perform at the St. Paul Civic Center in October 74. He was not in good form. The performance on this video is great.

      B Bo Yeah, like I said, September-October was definitely his worst performances ever at the time. January-mid-late August were very good though.

      Yes, he used his Kempo Karate & sometimes he would sing or put in the lyrics "I hope these pants don't tear up baby." Remember he did a dinner show & midnight show in Vegas. He put everything he had in every performance. Never has a performer ever put such emotion & originality into anything. Don't worry, his true fans know him for his entire life not just the last part. I'll say it again. Life was fun when ELVIS was here. It's never been the same. When he & Priscilla walked out of that Santa Monica Court House, my girlfriend & I cried our eyes out. He really didn't want to get married but he had made a promise. Elvis was smart & he knew what was to come. It's almost impossible to fulfill a wife 's

    My father immugrated to the US in 68(NY). His dream came true when he saw Elvis Presely's concert at Madison Square Garden. I believe it was in 1972? Coming to the US then seeing Elvis perform at Madison Square Garden were his two dreams come true. Third dream was, after the twin towers were built, he walked inside ,the north tower to be exact ,and applied for a maintance job. The maintance company for the twin towers called him for his interview within two weeks and hired him on the spot. He worked 30 years in the North Tower. So,his three highlights as a 4 year immigrant were : i1.immigrating to the US 2.Elvis Presely's Madison Square Garden concert 3.Hired to work at the newly built twin towers. Elvis has been a favorite in our family nearly 3 generations.

    One thing to remember. Elvis used to give two shows a night as apposed to performers nowadays who generally do one. That means he had to sing the same songs twice a day, easy to see how he could become board with some songs.

    • @elvicare35

    This is tremendous. Thanks. Elvis looks like he is in a good mood, feeling good. He moved more on this, than a think from the Aloha concert. Also, you, and other fans that are into the concert music heavily, are probably like me in that we like to hear how certain songs develop and mutate over time. When he first did polk salad in 1970 it was more swamp rock and bluesy sounding, and it changed to the 1972 MSG style where it was faster and less blues sounding and morphed into this final version with lots of horns, not raw and bluesy, but more of an orchestra urban contemporary sounding song of that time but still a fun song. I still love the 1970 version the most but love them all none the matter. TCB⚡

    Hey guys from Australia, the concert Elvis in Memphis was good, but Elvis performed I think at Richmond prior to Memphis Concert, and I tell YA the Vocals, Enthusiasm, Commitment were 2nd to None, this Performance is as good as if not better to when he first returned to live performing, I'm not 100% that it was Richmond, but what I'm certain of was it was the Concert prior to Memphis, 99% same set list, when you listen to both concerts, prior to Memphis 100% Pristine Performance & Memphis I would say 80 _ 90%, regardless, Elvis was Ageless, he could Switch it on at Anytime he really wanted too, keep up the good work honouring An Unforgetfull Soul, ELVIS PRESLEY, TODAY ALBUM GREAT VOCALS, TWO SONGS THAT STAND OUT ARE SHAKE A HAND & I CAN HELP, THESE SONGS SHOW ELVIS'S ORIGINAL BLUESY SWAG, IF YOU CAN HAVE A LISTEN, DANNY BOY, GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME, AND THEN THERE'S, SHE THINKS I STILL CARE, HELL HAVE TO GO, FOREVER MY DARLING AND HURT, JUST PURE BLISS, I BELIEVE IF ELVIS NEVER DEPARTED HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN TIME OFF MAYBE A YEAR OR TWO AND HE WOULD HAVE CAME BACK STRONGER AND AS GOOD AS HE EVER WAS, HE WOULD HAVE HAD TOP 10 HITS ALL THROUGH THE 80'S AND PROBABLY GOT SOME MAJOR STARRING ROLES IN MOVIES, ONE THING I NEVER EVER UNDERSTOOD AS TO WHY ELVIS NEVER BUILT HIS OWN STATE OF ART ( FOR THE TIME) RECORDING STUDIO, I TELL YA I WOULD HAVE, I THINK EVERYONE AROUND HIM WERE YES MEN, HE NEEDED POSITIVE INSIGHTFUL HEADS AROUND HIM WHO WOULD EXPRESS THEIR VIEWS, TAKE CARE EVERYONE IN THIS COVID INFESTED WORLD

    It's always great to see new footage of Elvis, 43 years later! Elvis has a lot of energy in this performance from 1974, More so than he did in the Aloha concert!

      I have read that at the Aloha concert he was asked to move around less for camera angle purposes. Whether that is true or not, I don’t know, but it makes sense.

    I watched an interview with Charlie Hodge when he said that Elvis always liked improvising during concerts. Apart from this one, I watched another one on RUclips (he wears the light blue jumpsuit) where he performs Polk Salad Annie completely different. Personally, despite it's quirky, I liked the 1970 live version.

    His health was already worsening, but he gave all his energy on the stage to his loved fans. In 1974 he might have been helped, giving him a rest a 6 momths or a year even against his will. But his promoter (to me he was not a manager),kept on booking exhausting tours. and he would have avoided bad and, sometimes, mocking critics. Too sad.

    • @ElvisistheMan_
      @ElvisistheMan_  4 года назад +2

      Yeah he would’ve benefited from a rest in late summer/early fall 1974.

      I found this one on the internet:
      "For the first time, Colonel Parker is forced to cancel an entire engagement, not just a show here and there, due to Elvis' increasingly erratic behavior. In writing, the Colonel directs the management of the Vegas Hilton to contact Dr. Ghanem for "the proper interpretation for the appropriate press release."
      Also happened in '74. Never heard of it. Interesting.
