Little trick for people who struggle with his b + b combo. You can press back one instead of doing 2 knees. So for example on ps5 do the string, then skull, kick skull, kick, skull, knee, skull back one
Have you tried Kano with Shang? It covers all his weaknesses pretty perfectly. You can force opponents to block straight skulls using Kano ball, and it beats Sub-Zero/Motaro kameos, beats Kenshi's charge, beats low profile moves like Sub slide or Kitana up fan, lets you get crazy chip damage (around 20%) from very long block strings thanks to the plus frames combining with spinning claws, if it hits during a block string it sends the opponent full screen for zoning. That's just the one move too! Laser is super active, deals good damage, and leaves anyone it hits full screen, but admittedly seems worse than triple skull in most scenarios. Knives can be used to break armor while blocking, and can extend off of spinning claws if they hit during a block string. Also, Kano's forward throw uniquely gains the full damage buff from Shang's enhanced form steal, while most only add about 1%, Kano's matches the buff to your back throw so that either throw does 132 damage. It feels like Kano was tailor made for Shang when I play them together. I couldn't believe Burrito Vorhees was the only guy I saw using that team.

Now sure if this will help anyone, but i have been using b12(young) to punish lately since its 10 frames onstead of f43 thats 13frames. This has helped alot against jonny. For old i have been using f24 since its 8 frames. All this started since jonny has alot of -12 moves and old shangs main starter is 13 frames. Once you get the timing, its super good.

I use darrius as a free stun and pressure when i need it. I also like to use him as i can combo off of him when i morph. Just looking for some insight if this is a good idea or if theres a better kameo?
shang doesnt rely on kameos as much as other characters so its mostly personal preference. Darrius is a solid option and offers a lot of ways to compliment shangs kit. If you can make it work thats great :) "Best Kameos" are Lao/Sub/Kano/Stryker hope it helps!
Nice vid dude, one thing I'm practicing atm are kameo combos with his morphing combos. I typically don't like relying on kameos if I can help it since I'm just stuck in that 1 v 1 headcanon but I get that they're a key part of this game(I'm still hoping for a no kameo mode in the future, would make things even more interesting imo) but the kameos make everyone combo crazy so I get why they're in there. The morphing timing I'm working on that definitely takes some practice. I'm experimenting with Frost actually since she can freeze you similar to Sub but also in a 50/50 way like with his overhead kick, standard high strings etc for setting up more combo chances. I'm a big Sektor main in past MK's so your combos with him were nice I didn't know he could have that potential with Sektor. Nice stuff.
Ok...So been practicing the morphing swap form mid combos, very, very hard and not that consistent honestly but also I'm playing on the switch version for the time being since my xbox broke and the timing is definitely not easy for sure. The switch version is a little slower so that's not helping but I find his young F4 into swap form string 121 not consistent at all, sometimes he just kicks and changes you have to hit L1 and F4 simultaneously which doesn't come out consistently and is really, really hard. I really wish they made changing between young and old just L, the D and + L is what's annoying. I'm looking at the inputs and it just doesn't register all the time in the game even though I'm hitting the button. I don't think it's necessary to win with just a useful tool it's not like it's something where he can mix up lows and highs mid string then IMO the morphing between young an old would be a lot more effective but it's really just a way to get pushback with the old to young into fireballs, it's all highs anyway so they'll block if they don't get hit but I can see it being helpful for pushback and chip damage.
Do you have any tips on how to execute his far skull consistently? I’ve been at this for about 45 min and I just can’t figure it out. I normally don’t struggle with these sort of inputs that remind me of a command grab but everytime I put the inputs in I only get one skull or two.
It can be very inconsistent sometimes or at least feels like it. Even if you do the input perfectly it won't come out. There's no magic to it I try to not press 1 and forward at the same time and make sure forward comes first
Did this change? I’m trying everything to do old versions string 4121 into young version dbf2 (the 3 fireballs) I can’t do it or any special moves. Was this patched??
Does anyone else have the issue where when ur standing on the left side, the ground skull for some reason goes too far and misses the opponent thus dropping the combo? I have no issue performing combos when im on the right side, but for some reason when i input ground skulls on the left side, they appear off screen and i keep dropping his bnb combo. PLZ HELP
@Raivazz I think it's to do with my inputs. Because I've got the timing down but for some reason, when I'm on the left side, the game sometimes reads my normal ground skulls for far ground skulls which us extremely annoying as I don't have this problem when standing on the right.
Shang is my style of play, a defensive 1st that fights from a distance! I am having so much trouble though opening the opponent up with a lack of overhead and ground skulls I cannot hit let alone hit them to induce to put them in a combo! Any ideas bro ?
You have to keep practicing and watching other people play I remember when I started using him it was complicated but now I'm starting to enjoy playing with him
If you add Kano ball to your skull barrages they will be forced to block, and you will end up plus by quite a bit, which jails into ground skull for a full combo. Also, anyone who gets hit by straight skulls is jailed into ground skull on wakeup, so never let people stand up for free. If you toss Kano knives or a Kano ball to accompany ground skull even full screen armor like Raiden will get crushed. I use Kano ball to create super long block strings that end in a low/overhead mix, with the lows getting full combos, and the overheads getting 27 frames of oki. My block string is any starter, young df2, Kano ball, f4121, young df2, Kano ball, young f3/old 24/old f3/f4121 + young db3. if you did old 24 you can d1 because you are plus 1, if they got hit by either low you can use old df1 to start your BnB. This is not a lot of mix, but it is a lot of pressure and if you used both Kano assists you dealt about 20% chip damage. Most opponents crumble during that kind of prolonged pressure, and your hit confirm is super easy at any point except during spinning claws. If they get hit by claws or Kano they end up full screen and you get back to zoning though, which is exactly what you want anyway. You can also toss throws in the mix when your plus, and his back throw gives perfect spacing for his d3 which jails into f4 on hit. That's how I think you should open people up with Shang, because he's got no mix. Pressure plus strike/throw, and zone whenever possible, even if it is just for chip damage.
I’m noticing that when my settings are set to default I can do F4121 into shift ground spikes,but with the settings set to yours it doesn’t let me do that,odd.
@@Raivazz oh I’m definitely gonna use the settings you have since with the default settings every time I go for the F4 into syringe it shifts into the opponent I’m just gonna have to change how I fight in close quarters now is all.
I have been pretty much been doing all of these things (been watching your other vids). The none exclusive can also be up blocked, so you can't go to crazy throwing it out. Also, I had no idea about spamming buttons during your x-ray. Kinda 🤪crazy. Question, how do you deal with rain/sub combo?
Ngl Shang's antiair is so trash, and you have to antiair people you cant just upblock because that gives them room for pressure and mind games, and that is fundamental when playing zoners
Bro if you want to make this a job and make money just stream on RUclips all the Shang players don't have anyone to watch look how good sikander555 does with his subzero streams i know you couldnt start out 6 hours a day like he does but just start a xouple hours a day

So for form swapping mid combo you just need to press the switch stance at the same time as the special input why doesn’t the menu tel you this

You either kick too early which will float your oponnent too high or you miss input your skulls

Personally when i was learning hid BnB in old form i realized i was doing stand 4 too soon and rhat would make the 3rd up-fireball whiff

You have to find an opening can't just zone bc of sub. I usually rush him down and punish when he messes up. Rain can be pretty annoying for shang
W guide bro! What do you think about Shang with Sub Zero kameo? I personally use this combination, of course it's matchup dependent.
