Hope the truck got ya home . I pull a reefer and I carry a jumper wire , have had alternator go on truck just run wire battery to battery . Gets me home every time.👍🏻 That stuff can be stressful , it wears you down I know . Enjoy your vacation !!
You've got the transmission out might as well replace the clutch and pressure plate and while the flywheel is being resurfaced replace the rear crank seal now is the time to do it.
@@MrWisdom79 A lotta work for a middle aged driver,Im sure he doesn't have the shop- lets get real-plus the mechanic charges $700 just in labor to do all the extra stuff

Removed a lot of T-38 engines when I was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base. Made a lot of trips on 54 while I was driving a truck. The monsoon season is awesome in Tucson loved the lighting that comes with a monsoon storm. Specially when it flashed a long the mountains. Hope you made it home. Have a great vacation.
Good Job!!! I generally am a silent observer of your channel, but this time I gotta give you kudos. I used to do what you do many moons ago and I have had the same problem with the throw out bearing. I lost the pedal and had to drive the last 400 or so miles with just floating gears, timing stop lights, and worst case, kicking it in neutral and then restarting the engine in low gear to get going again. It sounded as if you had the same plan if things went too far. Thats what O/O have to do sometimes to get he payday and get to cheaper repairs. Good Job!!!!! Have a great vacation with your wife. You guys deserve it. The truckin stuff will still be around when you get back. LOL!
sometimes you just have to roll the dice. glad it worked out for you. one thing ive learned from the trucking world dont ever tell yourself it cant get any worse. i guess that goes for life as well. stay safe out there from northern ontario.
Sorry to hear about ur truck. Of all things to go out. Had to be that. And ur alternator to. Yes sir. You definitely need a vacation after this trip. Hope everything works out for you. Have fun and be safe on ur vacation. I love watching ur videos.
You're a good businessman. You make good solid business decisions. I enjoy your videos and yes that is the best way to grease that bearing. Forces you to get under truck to grease and you can look at the underside of truck for problems.
Cooling your engine before turning it off is so important for longevity of the engine, and most people drive 400 miles park the truck and turn it right off ..
Sorry to hear about the truck, Murphy's Law at it's best. I'd need a stiff belt when I got home, and I don't drink. Have fun on your DESERVED vacation, have fun and stay safe and we'll see you down the road.
good luck Dan, yup go on VC and have a good one . the fixes can come after and the more that bakes the better ..get it all fix and you'll on the road with new parts.should have a brake free month or two....see you on the next video
Just one of those days, Dan. We have all been there, but it doesn't make the situation any better for your part. I hope you make it home all right and I really think you need the vacation. Be safe Dan and tomorrow will be better.
Northrop T-38 Talon twin supersonic engines was adopted in the 60' by the airforce and navy as trainers and are still in use today. You may need to go back and get the other one...lol!
That spot where u pulled over and popped hood, I actually parked where the pt cruiser is, for the night. That train track!!! All night long, every 20 minutes, horns blazing because of the intersection right there. Good luck with ur truck, and have a good time in vegas!!
Bits and parts sound really cheap over there compared to the UK/EU. An alternator for $ 120..?? A clutch 'fitted' for $1100..?? Incredible! Wouldn't get anywhere near those prices here!
Years ago, I started my SUV and when I backed from the garage I heard "Clunk". Something was lying on the garage floor. Leaving the SUV running, I gathered up the errant part and went the mile to my local mechanic. He was happy I had left the vehicle running because the alternator had fallen out. Ha!

It's good that you know something about trucks as an owner operator because so many people don't and get taken for a ride trying to get stuff fixed. 400 dollars for a alternator is outrageous and just think what they would charge to do the clutch.
Can't "Float Gears" on European Trucks, No Clutch No going anywhere!. At least you are mechanically savvy and can do most things yourself where possible. A lot of Truck Drivers these days are not interested on how things work, but it certainly helps to fault find when a problem occurs even if you can't fix it.
If they are paying for the whole trailer, then as long as it compensates you no worries there, you save on having to make extra stops and getting potentially delayed and you save on fuel. Hopefully the truck will get back on the road and the pain to the wallet will be a light touch, but you know what the saying it costs big bucks to drive big trucks...
