Very good movie....a sequel to one of my favorite series , Wiseguy. There is something about this Ken Wahl that I seldom see in men...he is beautiful and has great kindness and depth. I feel that he is like this in real life, too.

I just watched original Wiseguy this month on Tubi. I was impressed with the cast & quality of the show. Now just watched this youtube show. I think Ken Wahl is such a commanding actor. I wish they took good care of actors back then. I'm a Jen Wahl fan & wish him all the best. I hope he's happy, his family is connected & loving just like Vinnie & his Mom & btother were. After watching through the Decades (binge weekend*Wise Guy*) I was shocked to read Ken accident which removed him from Acting. He still looks good,I think he would poetry/play if the movie was ever made John Kennedy Jr. This was a good program for its time.This show Set the tone for the Sopranos.

So this was '96. The last thing Ken did. But I read he struggled so much with his injury and the beginnings of an alcohol addiction for the pain? After he struggled with this come back movie he realised he couldn't do this anymore. Shame.
This series had a unique angle compared to the usual cops and robbers story, and that is that the cop always got too emotionally involved with the crooks before he had to book them.

In my mind this movie is the one that never happened. Wiseguy with Steven Bauer was far better than this poor excuse for a movie. I say that as a huge fan of the show.
@@JohnDoe-rj8nd I was pretty unimpressed by the film but I'll watch it again just to be sure. KW looked more than 7 years older as did his co stars. This was very disappointing. The weight was also a serious problem by then. Having said that, I hated season 4 of Wiseguy (and I'm a huge fan of the show). Without Vinnie, it just didn't really work and unsurprisingly finished early. But sadly he was slipping away from the show even during the latter half of season 3. There was obviously something going on.

And yeah, season 4 is disappointing in comparison to the previous three seasons, however it has its charm and the writing is at least decent, unlike this movie. At least we have the three seasons with Vinnie to be grateful for. When I first found Wiseguy I watched the pilot thinking it was a movie and found it to be incredible, only to be pleasantly surprised to learn it was actually just the first of many episodes.

Kinda disappointed in this movie. I missed the first time around because I was deployed at the time. I like it because it was Ken's last performance, but it was so draining on him the life of the character died. Frank was a re tread and Lifeguard was totally disrespected. They dogged Jim Byrnes in the Highlander movie also. It just didn't have the feel the show had. It just felt like it was done just to scratch an itch.
Just found it was not sure if I had seen it..it was alright the slow motion takes just made it seem like they were telling it from a dream..but even good drama shows had to change with the times..who would have thought we would still be in this reality B.S that just ruined 📺..can watch sonny steelgrave and mel profit all day🤣🤣

Ken Wahl is a great guy and the only Wiseguy. What was Cannell thinking bringing in Steven Bauer? He is a talented guy, but no match to the character Wahl developed and became. Difficult to see him overweight and obviously having a tough time during filming.
Nothing wrong with Bauer's character. The problem was that CBS decided to change the show to an action oriented show instead of the character and story oriented show it had been. More Miami Vice. Had they done it as a spin off. Wiseguy: Miami, it likely would have killed. But changing the format, losing Wahl and trying to introduce a new lead, as well as moving the show to Saturday night, tanked it.
This reminds me of the 'Hunter' movies. Nice to see the old actors back in action, but the depth of character and plot development the series had can't be emulated by one solitary film. Especially when the filmmakers have taken the edge off the acting & action. '90s 'Wiseguy' is visibly and tangibly softer than '80s 'Wiseguy'. Just not the same
What a disappointment. Wiseguy, the original show, had four seasons (three with Ken Wahl as the lead). It was a TV show before its time. Wahl was a great leading man and Jonathan Banks almost stole the show as McPike. The strength of the show was the writing and although it would not be fair to compare it to shows of today, the flaws in all four seasons were clearly in the directing, cinematography and action choreography. You could reboot the original Wiseguy stories today, using the exact scripts, not change a word, keep the lead for the fourth season and it would be a killer show. The Wiseguy TV movie was woeful, with the beloved McPike and Lifeguard hardly being used (blink and you might miss them). Banks and Byrnes were sidelined for far lesser actors and while Ted Levine is generally good, he is miscast as the unbelievable mob-like character. To underuse Banks was a mistake, as he's clearly the best actor/character in the series.
Stupid plot....The old show was well written and very true-to-life. But this opens with the FBI kidnapping an innocent child and throwing them out of a moving car.

Loved the series since it was released. Ken could have made fit as Bruce Wayne or the Punisher even. Just has that looks and voice back then.

I thought Steven Bauer was excellent in season 4. Not his fault he had to try and carry it.
