In bva :- it deals with Max and min conditions and whereas ecp deals with valid and invalid data. Now take an example for bva:- let take example as comment box where min words need to enter is suppose 50words and Max is 150words there we use bva in This we test 49,50,51 and 149,150,151words and whereas in ECP design technique where we validate the data as valid and invalid let take example for ECP:- now I have phone number field where it need to support only numerical numbers then we do ECP first of all I test by using all numbers and the result should be valid, next I will test by giving all numbers as alphabets and all as special characters and all as numerics+spl characters+numeric etc etc test cases which need to comes under invalid test data 1) first I write valid 2)then I write invalid 3)next i write valid+ invalid In such way I cover all combinations... Note:-Even u can use bva here but requirement need to be like this :- check whether phone number field should allow only 10digits then we use bva technique...I hope u understood.
