Move the engine away because of the gas fire...that's a good idea! Three or four years ago the station just a few blocks from my house lost the engine at a commercial structure fire. The building was a few feet above the level of the parking lot, all of the sudden some tank of flammable liquid inside the building failed and the burning liquid came pouring out of a roll-up door that was open and they were flowing water into. I talked to one of the VFF who was there. He said, with no warning of any kind, this wave of burning liquid came pouring out the door and they just dropped the hose lines and ran for their life's. There was no hope of saving the engine. So, moving the engine so it's no longer downhill of a flammable liquid fire, good move.
I agree, i would not have parked my engine that close. Too close if the gas tank ruptures However, great job on getting water on the fire, about 24 seconds by my count.
For US fire fighters it's the fastest I have seen on RUclips. You must have been forgotten fire fighters in Europe; their trucks have a small fire hose at a reel. . .
Regardless of the financial situation this will was easily a one crew job but all fires are unpredictable the car could have exploded and having those extra men ready would save so much time just don’t know how far the next closest department is.
That was odd. Never seen one that hard to put out. Once the bit you can’t reach with the hose gets red hot it will alway light back up instantly. The scrapers roll a burning car over with a fork truck to get all access.
Well thank goodness it appears all the firefighters in the neighbors and everybody safe so thank goodness for that but man wow I never seen the car fire last that long
This is the first I’ve heard of fire blankets. Amazon has them, of course, among other fire-related stuff. Should I get one for my vehicle, to go with the fire extinguisher, jumper cables, tire inflator, and glass breaker/seatbelt cutter I already have? I like to be prepared! Thanks.
Most of the fires I watch RUclips when the firefighters arrive , they take a century to act , these firefighters as soon as they arrived they deployed the hoses and immediately started with the job, I call this efficiency, good for this fire department!!!👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
In many fire videos, the start of extinguishing is really slow. This is due to the fire hydrant system and its failure, or bad ways of working, long distances. Europe and the Nordic countries, fire trucks have large water tanks and extinguishing foam for car fires. This achieves fast action, which is important to prevent the spread of fire. For example, we extinguish a car fire with foam in tens of seconds ... minutes. Of course, there are also differences in car fires, they can be difficult depending on the size of the car etc. In the majority of car fires, we put them out very quickly. In America, the car fire is turned off three times and still it starts up again...🙂 Additional training, equipment development, they would be needed in many fire stations in America.

@@seato412b In addition to the height, the worst problem with the fire in the London tower blocks was that the buildings were covered with easily flammable insulation board, which is why the fire spread explosively fast. Newer cars are like these newer homes...so much plastic and synthetic materials in them, they burn like paper soaked in...well ...gasoline!! God bless our firefighters everywhere and keep them safe.

I may be mistaken but when you use foam to smother the leaking gas, isn't it best to use a less forceful stream to prevent spread and disturbing the covering layer?
@Portland Vlogger57 to aggressive of a stream with break the foam blanket and prevent it from doing its job, you want to roll it on and blanket all the fuel, any splashing just ruins what you already laid on

This is crazy I have never seen this many fire fighters and equipment to a single car fire in the open. Hell we send two engines two medic units and one truck to residential structure fires unless its confirmed to be a working fire then you will get another engine and medic and sometimes another truck added to the call.
We NEVER send anything other than a single engine on a car fire. (as long as there are no exposures) Even when we only had 500 gallon tanks. I have yet to run out of tank water on anything up to a full sized van. But you should have more equipment on structure fires. We have 3 engines, 2 ladders, a heavy rescue, medic, and chief on basic structure fires. A working fire gets another engine, ladder, medic, chief, along with a safety officer, EMS supervisor, and the air supply truck.
You need a 10ft long 2.5inch steel pipe with a right angle sprinkler on the end of the hose that you can push under the car that sprays up wards under the engine and floods the bugger.
I kept saying from the beginning (after realizing the fuel tank has been damaged) to use a fire extinguisher. Just suffocate the fire and be done with it. Regardless, the fire department did a great job.
A ladder truck for a car fire just a little overkill. They need to use Purple K powder extinguishers just like they use on race cars to put these fires out quickly. Another product called Cold Fire puts these E10 fuel fires out quickly to. Water just wont do it fast anymore and will get worse when they go to E15 fuel.

What would be the problem with just letting the gasoline burn itself out and the units stand by to prevent it spreading? Seems by using water or whatever, it just moves the fire and liquid into the sewer system and down the road. Clearly for the first 10 minutes everything they put on it just made it worse.
I was thinking the same thing. Take the same approach that would be used on a tank truck or even tank farms. It’s easier(and sometimes better) to just stand by and let it burn. All the resources are in place to protect the surroundings and the citizens. There are multiple engines, a quint, EMS, and law enforcement.
