More you look Cara, more you become jealous to Markus that he has found something in life that most never find, and it is that humour and love you can see that they have...
let me just take a moment to let you know how much I've been enjoying your RUclips videos. Your content has been incredibly inspiring and motivational for me as a filmmaker. Your tips and insights have truly helped me improve my skills and approach to filmmaking. I wanted to express my gratitude because, in a way, I look up to you as a mentor. Your passion, knowledge, and dedication to your craft are truly commendable. It's not easy to find someone who genuinely shares their expertise and experiences to help others grow. I feel fortunate to have stumbled upon someone like you who is not only talented but also a genuinely good person. Thank you for being such a positive influence on my filmmaking journey. I appreciate the effort you put into creating your videos and sharing your wisdom. Keep up the fantastic work, and I'll be eagerly awaiting your future content
Thanks! That scenery is so beautiful! I LOVE the Mojave Desert! I remember my first trip West - 1978. And I remember my first time seeing the desert. It was just as if I had landed on Mars! You can see it in movies, but that's NOTHING like being there. I was stationed at Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base around 1985, and absolutely fell in love with the Mojave Desert. When I was transferred to Camp Lejeune, I stopped in Missouri to get gas, after living in the desert for a while, and when I got out of the car, it was like I had stepped into the bottom of a swimming pool. The humidity was CRAZY!
The ease of use via the inexpensive underrated umbrella modifier!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 So good! 😆loved Cara’s animated background antics today 😅 👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏼 Thank you two for a fun lesson on a good option for on location diffuser 🙏🏼💕
One of your best tutorials yet. Directly addresses my concerns and needs about portability and "in the field" supplementary illumination techniques. THANK YOU. P.S. Humorous ridicule, in background, appreciated. My wife says I "pontificate" if I take more than 25 words to explain something ;)
Another negative to the softbox is that it is total shade as opposed to diffusion. Diffused sunlight is very beautiful. Thank you, Markus! (And, Cara!!!)
so much fun to watch Cara and yes that is a brilliant idea. we all have this stuff laying around, we just have to use it the right way. Danke Markus :)
Hi Cara and Markus. You're both looking great out there. Glad you are having a good time together as well as providing all the very helpful tips. Much appreciated.
had a shoot for a dental clinic on thursday, I go around with big plastic trunk to move my modifiers (disassembled) together with a very old 2 X 200W Elinchrom strobes i bought cheap almost a decade ago, that day the plastic gave in on the last intact lamp, i was using too heavy of a modifier. Thing is that I ended up using my 2 cheapo speedlites and an umbrella... It was very refreshing, so fast, so easy. I already edited the pictures, they're perfectly good for the application. Shout out to white walls in local businesses!
I remember like 12 years ago, I was shooting a beauty session for a friend of mine who was a makeup artist. We had the model out in a very brightly lit area because I wasn't told (and shame on me for hot asking) where we would be shooting. We were limited on options and I didn't have a reflector/diffuser at the time. However, I did have a collapsible solar shade for my car. So I had the makeup artist hold that over the model. The model's mom kinda looked at me like I was crazy...until she saw the finished product. lol That shut her up real quick. Sometimes being open to ingenuity is better than having all the gear. Simple solutions rule. Just because they may not be "pro" solutions doesn't make them less valid or useful. That shade probably cost me like $10 at Walmart lol I've always loved making stuff or using the tools I had for other purposes than what they were just intended for.
I did shots for a bar of their signature cocktails and forgot my softbox. Ended up putting a big deep metal kitchen pan on it's side, putting the flash facing in, and covering with a thin table cloth. The inside of the pan was really shiney and it actually worked really well lol. They were looking at me funny though.
Great Video. Lighting 201, beyond the basic. Love it. BTW, don't ever change your model, so entertaining. Had to watch it twice 'cause I was watching Cara's antics. Super. Thanks buddy, excellent. Need a helper???
Own a riddliocus amount of Umbrellas and just learn something new! Thanks again for engaging and useful stuff! (I agree even thought a few my softboxes are somewhat quick to set up. They not as easy or as light as a Umbrella) Looking forward to trying this on my next shoot!
Brilliant❤ possible to put a second smaller one the other way arround in the direction to the object (so the big part is blocking the wind and the smaller one is the diffusing flash needed)?
Markus, your videos blow my mind! The photos once you incorporated the umbrella, are amazing! Thanks so much for sharing so much here on RUclips. I get so much inspiration from your vids. God bless you, brother!
Dude, you are an awsome artist and physist. Working on my next movie and you have made some comments that have resonated with me. I do comedy because it is the hardest to do. Trying to make the world a better place via a good story, sounds like a dream we both share.
Your work is awesome dude. If I had one tenth of your work ethic I probably wouldn't be broke. Maybe one day you could make a small video series about how to develop a strong work ethic?
great idea, Markus! Thank you! How do you power a light for outside shooting, do you use a generator, or is your light battery-powered or solar-powered possibly?
The one I used is the 5 ft Interfit U5TR www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1246858-REG/interfit_u5tr_white_translucent_umbrella_60.html similar to Neewer www.amazon.com/Neewer-Photography-Translucent-Diffuser-Umbrella/dp/B00KL57D68/ref=asc_df_B00KL57D68/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312021382923&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2002752956591525677&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9030800&hvtargid=pla-441108820965&ref=&adgrpid=60647562605&th=1 but it doesn't have to be these. ANY white photography umbrella will do, any company, any size.
Heck of a good idea! Just bought one. Thanks!!! What stand are you using there that can handle the torque of the wind and not fail? Also, wouldn't it be nice if the umbrella was inside out and had a spring that would push it back open when the wind isn't too strong? I think I'll see if I can build one.
I'm a new sub and leaning a lot! For talking head, vlog, streaming video, is the Sony A7C and RX100ii would be the best two camera setup? I'm looking for simplest and easy.
Yes those are my two favs. I used to use the A7Cs more in the beginning, but as time went by, I got hooked on the ease-of-use grab and go simplicity of the RX100 and just use two of those now mainly for everything- one for wide shot and one for close up ruclips.net/video/a3ZlROQHWDI/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/0_5lQpXmyLg/видео.html sample shot ruclips.net/video/-MXTlbaG0BY/видео.html
@@MarkusPix After playing with the RX100 vii and a7C, I can't tell the difference between video quality. Since the RX100 vii can USB charge and works easier for streaming, I'm going to return the A7c and get another RX100.
Markus... I haven't seen any videos/reviews on the Glow line of "wind proof" umbrellas. Any chance you might review these? Glow Wind Proof EZ Lock Small Deep Fiberglass Umbrella and Glow EZ Lock Wing-Like Parabolic Fiberglass Umbrella
Cara in the background 😂 is Hilarious!! Thanks Markus, for constantly helping community with all of the hacks!
Agreed 👍
I loved her, she made laugh!
She acted like a sidekick in a infomercial... White umbrella - Sold !
So funny. Need more!!!🎉😂😂😂😂
Probably my favorite video of yours now…informative AND entertaining. Happy Mother’s Day, Cara! Thanks for the laughs!
Love Cara's mimics on this one!
Cara is hilarious as the Markus mimic.
Cara ❤
Marcus is the lord of light.
cute episode... Cara stole the show Mr. Markus.
Love the concept of cheaper faster lighter. So many advantages.

With the usual belaboring of each point, it is great to have some entertainment from the model. Much thanks Cara.

8:03 The Umbrella size is 5 feet across. Equal to 152.4cm
If any of You'll ask 😍😊 Cheers.
So much i learn from this Channel
In the thumbnail, even the diffuser itself is diffused. Now THAT is a powerful diffuser!
😄
Cara!
The lady started cracking me up starting at 5:53!
Best looking flash shots I've seen. Brilliant.
Cara doing marketing in sign language...G8 fun for all :)
I learn so much from Cara's body language =)
*Thanks for explaining purpose of big diffusion umbrellas!

6:31 Haha! I love Cara narrating with her gestures. :D
That's actually a really creative and functional idea!
So glad I caught this! Thank you Markus...
My pleasure!
Happy mother days cara
Oh man I have to say that you are indeed blessed with the most gorgeous glorious diamond ever.
Yes I am thankful
Cara... you are a star girl! hahaha
Love the scientific rationale melding with practical applications in this content ❤ 🇵🇭
You like it better with the shoot through beucase it's now about 3 feet closer, so giving a much softer light.. Great vid!
This changed my perspective of shooting in sunlight completely, awesome work! Can't wait to try this on video
Brilliant 🤓 And Cara's miming is next level
Cara is epic :)
😂 Cara is hilarious. I love all your videos for the information but we may have stumbled into a new dynamic.

Practical and simple- I have actually used my 7' shoot-thru just like that!!
I've been doing something similar for years with TV news reporters, but what do you if you want to use a 135mm lens and get way back from your model?
Thank you so much for great video. Perfect picture
Excellent Markus!! ❤
Thanks heaps folks... 👍😃👣📷

great idea, Markus! Thank you! How do you power a light for outside shooting, do you use a generator, or is your light battery-powered or solar-powered possibly?
Yahoo love y’all
Do they make diffuser umbrellas with vent holes like they do in golf umbrellas? That should help in the stong wind.
Yes. video coming soon. The wind still catches them
Dude I was looking at some of these thanks for the great advice
So practical !!! Thanks !!!
Also a softbox doesn't give you the power of the sun. You're definitely right about this.
Markus McGyver Pix !
Gracias!
Brilliant video, very helpful content.
Thanks for another great video.
Great! Thanks for this!
