One thing that you could have done I think would have been interesting is creating Soul, Tsubaki and the sisters too. Not as characters, but as awaken magical weapons. I think there could be something really interesting in your take about them.
I mean it makes sense that the majority of them would be hexblades, after all the original lore for the subclass said that the Raven Queen created the weapons that would become the first hexblades. Also, the weapon transformation for Maka was an anime exclusive ability of hers as they were trying to wrap up the anime, this was during a time when a lot of anime had different endings compare it to the manga.
Ngl, I also thought he was punishing himself for not being able to read 😅 but failing the first question is funny, too. I know he can spell his name, but with how self-obsorbed he is, it isn't surprising that he'd learn his name for autographs 😂
Fun fact Kilik is the third strongest fighter of the school until around the mid way maybe early mid way part when Maka finally passes him. Death the kid being number 1 and black star number 2. Ox was a close 5th if memory serves right
So two notes, if your using the 2024 rules pact of the blade does work with all melee weapons regardless of type last I checked. Second even with the old hexblade the limitation on no two handed weapons (it actually has no limit on heavy ones interestingly enough) was one that could be ignored if the weapon was your pact weapon.
Hey first time viewer here, I wanted to say I absolutely love this format of video and you did an exceptional job staying true to the characters and their source material!
Kid's shooting style is extremely unorthodox, but its...fine with certain "modifications" (magic weapons). Honestly, pistols, at short range, are pretty point and shoot as long as your fundamentals are right, which would be hard shooting with your pinkies. Further ranges on the other hand l, In the simplest way i can put this, all he'd have to do is turn the barel mechanism 180 degrees since that is what determines the path of trajectory (bullets don't shoot straight) and would also send the recoil back upwards. Or he can just...point higher.
Spheres of Power (Pathfinder) has the Armorist class with the Spirit Blade archetype to turn into weaponry, and meaningfully contribute therein (including buffing the wielder, using their action to have their wielder attack, and so on. Spheres 5e doesn't have that particular function, as it was given like 1 or 2 (maybe 3) books to work with, and that was a bit too niche to include. But you can still take Mageknight with Shapeshifter path, use Object Transformation to transform into a weapon with extra pointy bits added on, and then flail away when it's your turn. Life sphere's Regeneration talent and Protection sphere's Mage Armor also work for black blood.
There's a slight issue with the 8 str alongside using a heavy weapon which was added in 2024 to the heavy property if it's a melee weapon you need a str of 13 to not have disadvantage on attack rolls (with ranged ones needing dex instead of str) but anyways going the anime version of maka yeah definitely Hexblade but if we're going manga canon undead warlock is probably the best fitting choice because she's an active user of black blood and that'd come into play from form of dread and pact of the blade from her training from the Academy making it so you're getting your otherworldly influence evenly between the two
For Maka "Hexblade requires that the weapon not be heavy or two handed"? Hex Warrior specifically says Martial Weapons, with NO limits on Heavy & Two Handed. Hell, one the examples it gives in the blurb for the subclass is Blackrazor, a greatsword.
21:40 I forgot about it, but this jogged my memory. Something like this happened to me back in school (yep, OCD) - it took me something like 10 minutes to write my name and 'Test' for a test once, because I was obsessing over it looking 'perfect' and symmetrical (more specifically, perfectly in line with the test paper's lines), but my fingers just weren't cooperating and I couldn't get it quite right, so I nearly went through the paper (thus amping up my anxiety), erasing it again and again. Since entire the test was ~45-50 min long, that's a problem. Thankfully, the test in question was for a subject I was fairly capable in, so even with 20% of the time spent on name calligraphy, I did fairly well. Mind you, this sort of thing happened multiple times when I was young, though mostly it was the test questions that took me way too long to write (sometimes taking half or more of the time allocated for the entire test), instead of the name part. Fairly frequently, I nearly went through to the other side of the paper with the eraser, but I was aware enough to realize when it was about to happen, so I never tore the entire page off - just a few millimeters where words used to be, at most. Thankfully, I was precocious and exceedingly capable, so it didn't dent my academic performance overly much, though it did regularly stress me out. These issues went away with age, as I learned to control myself better and resist the urge to obsess over such trifles.
Black Star could be a Swashbuckler Rogue as well, capable of being stealthy, but usually just going in and actually using Charisma abilities during fights. But yeah, looking at where their power comes from, all Soul Eater characters would be Warlocks pretty much (Sorcerer could also fit, but not with how they fight, so potentially Eldritch Knight, but even that not really).
Actually, a point about Maka being an Aasimar, tough its a bit of a spoiler so ill put it below. ------ So in the manga, roughly after the breakpoint from the anime, it's explained that Maka is a Grigori/Angel type soul, which in very short words means that her soul has wing shapes, and with good wavelenght control she can use them to fly
The simplification of the polearm list was both a blessing and a curse for D&D. As a combat scythe, Soul would be a fauchard. Also, Variant Human exists, so Maka (and by extension, ALL of the Weapons, would fit that container)
Cool video as always man, keep it up.About the "Maka species thing", you could just grab sword burst or alter self since its just blades popping out of her.
Crona goes by They/Them through the whole series, initially this was Medusa trying to deny them any sort of identity or selfhood but they end up vibing with not having a gender at least. (It also sets them apart thematically from the Witches who as far as we see in the series are all women.)
Krona goes by "it/that", not "they/them", from proper translations. It's dehumanizing, and that's kind of the whole point, Krona's mother is not the nicest lass.
Would be interested in seeing you try to make Llenn from Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online in D&D. And for some old-school anime, the party from Slayers.
If you're a Hexblade with Pact of the Blade, you can use any weapon as your Pact Weapon, not just ones that aren't heavy or two-handed. At least, that's what I remember.
Fun fact maka only had the weapons powers in the anime however she has a special type of soul called a grigori which is said to be an angle soul and alow for flight at time so aasimar would work
In my humble opinion . Maka is more of a mix between paladin and warlock. Oath to make a death scythe and works for death. Star is dumb yet very wise(he is loud and wants to be the center of atention yet he is predicts his oponents and reeds them very good) so monk actually worked great with him and with kid your 100% correct.
I honestly think Black Star would have worked as a Kensei or Shadow monk, maybe up to sixth level. His weird elbow jab tackle thing basically screams ki empowered strike. If I'm not mistaken there is barely anything he'd use wisdom for anyway. Only his unarmored defense and if he's a shadow monk, the dc of minor illusion. That would be suboptimal, but I think that's actually on point if you really want to play Black Star. I personally would even give him the actor feat. Not because he'd use it for its intended purpose to impersonate others, like a ninja might do, but simply for the advantage on performance checks and increase to charisma.
So, i know you addressed being able to attack with cha with a glaive, but in 2024 rules, she's still need 13 str (well, need it to be effective) as glaives are Heavy. Any weapon with the Heavy property requires 13 str to use without having disadvantage. And hexblade is a 2014 subclass, but Pact of the Blade would allow for heavy weapons.
Now do a SoulsBorne party. Consist of the Ashen One (Dark Souls), Good Hunter (Bloodborne), Wolf (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice), Slayer of Demons (Demon's Souls) and Tarnished (Elden Ring).
And the amazing thing is? This canonically is the same world from Fire Force...just really far into the future and Fire Force is basically one BIG ass prequel series lol. Actually if you haven't done a Fire Force D&D thing you really should cause that's a pretty cool setting to work with and I'd love to see your thoughts on the main crew as a D&D party.
the world of Soul Eater only exists because of Shinra from Fire Force. Fire Force is the prequel to Soul Eater. This kinda makes sense why Excalibur in Soul Eater is the way he is. Because of Arthur. Soul Eater is great, but the anime kinda botched the ending of the arc (anime caught up to the manga)
Love the vid! There seems a bit of a van diagram of demographics when it comes to people who are into both SOUL EATER & TTRPGs lol I’ve been wanting to make/tinkering on a SOUL EATER TTRPG for a while now, but it typically get told to make it in D&D 5e 😅. So, I understand the sentiment of not liking being told “Do this with X system.” I just don’t really think 5e really has the facilities to really get the Meister/Weapon dynamic down right. Regardless, I think your videos look dope, and I can’t wait to see more from you!
GMG: First up is what Maka is. Me: Aasimar, due to her Grigori soul. Duh. It also gives Maka her anti-demon and flight capabilities. *proceeds to bring up weapon form* Me: Ohhh he's using the anime continuity....so the much weaker versions of the characters, got it.
@KingZolem I saw that a few times ya, I never got the chance to read the manga, but assamar would fit her a lot better from what I've been told of her manga verson.
He couldn't lift him cause their wavelengths didn't match. It's the reverse of how Maka can swing Soul around like nothing. If a meister can match to their weapon's wavelength they can wield them easily. It's what makes Stein so powerful since he can match his soul wavelength to any weapon.
Soul Eater is what got me into anime in the first place. It was amazing. But then the ending happened... which makes me question why they did that? Was it because they had to rush an ending? Either way, I truly wish for a remake of Soul Eater, but with the full story from the manga. Because oh boy... the manga was a masterpiece. In my opinion of course.
3:30 In fiction, probably. In reality, _absolutely not._ Actual scythes are farming tools used to cut down grass - they won't do well in a fight, at all. I've actually bent and even broken one several times by just hitting... mole hills and thin tree roots I didn't notice (because of all the grass). At best, a real scythe gets you one hit. It will probably bend once it hits flesh and the second it impacts bone at high speed, it will snap. Maybe there's some extra-fancy thick version that could hold up better, but all the ones I've ever seen are made out of fairly thin metal that you could bend with your bare hands. In reality, a simple kitchen knife is a much more deadly weapon than a scythe (which is disappointing to my inner weeb). I suppose the scythe still has a pretty good reach advantage, but one hit is all it's capable of.
I been trying to make Kenshin Himura type character for a while. This is one of my favorite anime besides Battle Angel, Ruroni Kenshin/Samurai X, One piece, Appleseed, and etc.
What about mushoku tensei? A lot of characters to cover by season 2 but at the same time they're probably quite basic in their roles. My other recommendation is fma brotherhood, loads of interesting characters there would make for quite the long video i bet
20:28 There’s a reason that doesn’t seem right lol. Luckily he has anime tendons and bones and doesn’t dislocate his wrist from the recoil 😂 It was a cool design choice but even as a kid when I first saw that I was scratching my head as to why anyone would do that.
6:43 the manga and anime diverge at chapter 36, actually. Spoilers, I guess. Maka isn’t a weapon in the manga, she and Soul instead master the Black Blood and she forges him into a Death Scythe. They can fly
Wouldnt it make sense to make Maka be a Warlock, since Resonance, is close to Cha, and than just go Pact of Blade, so she can use Halberd with Cha. You can also now take Pact of Chain and have a Familiar, and Skelton or Imp is one. Both could pass as the boy. You could take 3 levels in fighter to take champion and get that extra crit zone, second wind and action Surge to really bring the pain. I would roleplay her spells as Resonance attacks, and you get three attacks with Bladewarlocks now. I would prob go Fiend pact, since it mechanically make sense with Soul making the deal with the Devil thing.
Oh you didn't make the weapons as characters. That's certainly one way to handle it without pulling out the pile of Pathfinder first edition books lol. Was wondering how you'd do that.
I find Black Star as one my most annoying characters ever. What kind of assassin thinks it's okay to annunciate to your target you are going to kill them and brag about accomplishing something before doing anything!? Damn he must have hit his head when was being born.
Low key he'd be that player with Main Character Syndrome, He was more or less my least favorite where I preferred Crona, Kid and Maka [Crona as their backstory and anxiety have always resonated with me. I just wanted to hug them for all the abuse Medusa put them through]
shonen but also rule of cool factor I think it's also to show that he's very much still a brat, I don't really mind it but I can also see how it'd probably be annoying
Crona is non-binary. Yes, in the anime they are addressed with he/him pronouns, but in recent reprints/rereleases of the manga this has been rectified. Now they are addressed with they/them pronouns.
Nah man you Just looked the anime. Does parts you are mentioning are not parte of the canon. Maka is a human and the ability to became weapons is something she does not has.
🤔 . . . Here is an idea: create your own system. Maybe assign point values based on 🤷♂️, adjust point values between RPG character creation guides based on 🤷♂️, & so on & so forth…
Regarding Maka's heritage
That's an anime only thing. The manga really doesn't touch on her father being a weapon effecting her heritage

When will Overlord be part of the poll to be the next party/character builds?
Weapons and meisters are still considered to be human.
What kind of D&D party would Rimuru and his/her crew be?
His crew. He doesn’t identifie as a man any more ?
His, Rimuru states on multiple occasions that he is a guy
@@lorenzoditrolio6680 ye. That why it bugged me that the comment used his/her. I thought it was something late in the manga that i did not rade
@ nah, as of current manga chapters, I’m pretty sure he still identifies as a dude
@@lorenzoditrolio6680 thanks you
Glad you pushed the scythe transformation aside since that was some anime ONLY bullshit.
Slayers team please. All of them make it a long video. Also Pathfinder videos please.
If you are doing gaming characters as well here's a good one, Kat from Gravity Rush
GMG: First up is what Maka is.
Me: Aasimar, due to her Grigori soul. Duh. It also gives Maka her anti-demon and flight capabilities.
*proceeds to bring up weapon form*
Me: Ohhh he's using the anime continuity....so the much weaker versions of the characters, got it.
@KingZolem I saw that a few times ya, I never got the chance to read the manga, but assamar would fit her a lot better from what I've been told of her manga verson.
I would do chainsickles by taking whatever stats nunchaku have and changing the damage type to slashing.
5:20 i mean, when B.Star was trying to fight wielding Soul - he couldn't, because Soul was too heavy for him. So yeah.
He couldn't lift him cause their wavelengths didn't match. It's the reverse of how Maka can swing Soul around like nothing. If a meister can match to their weapon's wavelength they can wield them easily. It's what makes Stein so powerful since he can match his soul wavelength to any weapon.
@@azurewusky3830 I mean, it not contradicts what i just said. It just explains why what i said is correct.
@@Arma-S wasn't trying to contradict, just providing extra info.
@@azurewusky3830 Oh, ok, sorry then. I got the wrong feeling then. My bad.
@@Arma-S no harm, no foul, so all good. 😜😁
Improved Pact Weapon, done
This would be so fire
I been trying to make Kenshin Himura type character for a while. This is one of my favorite anime besides Battle Angel, Ruroni Kenshin/Samurai X, One piece, Appleseed, and etc.
What about mushoku tensei? A lot of characters to cover by season 2 but at the same time they're probably quite basic in their roles.
My other recommendation is fma brotherhood, loads of interesting characters there would make for quite the long video i bet
My only pact of the blade warloch used a great axe. I also multiclassed into paladin for more smite.
I don't know how They should go about it but it's about time that d&d makes Scythes a thing.
20:28 There’s a reason that doesn’t seem right lol. Luckily he has anime tendons and bones and doesn’t dislocate his wrist from the recoil 😂
It was a cool design choice but even as a kid when I first saw that I was scratching my head as to why anyone would do that.
Invocations could also take the place of her being a Living weapon, with a sprinkle or reflavoring.
in 2024 dnd rules you need a min of 14 str to use a heavy weapon without disadvantage
Wasn't it 13
How about making the original 8 Digidestined into D&D characters with some thematic from one of their Digimon partners' evolutions.
been intending to watch these "most whatever d and d party" vids for a whie now... but ah... I can't resist soul eater.
I binged them all. and I love it. I may well rewatch some to build the characters with my own modifications for my next game.
I actually made a campaign bas3d off this, I used some of blaine simples mechanic for it
Maybe you could do a team from Overlord anime like Blue Rose or a short about Ainz himself. Would be interesting.
Chrona is actually not a he, but a they.
Chrona is an unknown. With how Japanese grammar works, the entire manga got away with not using a pronoun like that even once.
Do you think you could find a way to convert Teen Titans into DnD at some point? It'd be great to get a good rundown on each of them!
I don't think that would be to hard, Adding them to the list!
Oh you didn't make the weapons as characters. That's certainly one way to handle it without pulling out the pile of Pathfinder first edition books lol. Was wondering how you'd do that.
She is a bounty hunter
Hmm.... out of curiosity, how do you think you'd go about making Knack in DnD?
Honestly, I agree with the strength thing. I don't think she's strong at all her ability to use soul is strictly their wavelength
Actually there is a scythe in one version of dnd I use I can’t remember where it is
I find Black Star as one my most annoying characters ever.
I just wanted to hug them for all the abuse Medusa put them through]
shonen but also rule of cool factor
I think it's also to show that he's very much still a brat, I don't really mind it but I can also see how it'd probably be annoying
Have you done one of the Strawhats??
Can you do something with some of rainimator characters plz 👌 ❓😎
(Edit) and yes I think you could make a small series out of this I think 🤔 💭
I need to check but I think Maka's "demon weapon powers" are anime only
Please do Kilik, Crona, and Medusa if you revisit. 🙏🏾
I am once again asking you to do combat gods as there are only 2 of them and I think it would be cool
Crona is non-binary. Yes, in the anime they are addressed with he/him pronouns, but in recent reprints/rereleases of the manga this has been rectified. Now they are addressed with they/them pronouns.
One of the Persona game parties in D&D?
Yokai realms has some better analogs for black stars weapons
Playing soul eater using dnd 5e sounds depressing asf
You already know you have to do fire force
Instead of a glaive a halberd would be more accurate
You havent read the manga havent you
Nah man you Just looked the anime.
Please reanimate soul eater by the manga Japan please
Using the anime lore and not the manga is not kosher
