    Steve Gains has never got the credit due to the music of Skynard. His long ass fingers. And knowledge of the B.B. BOX. IM A TOTAL LOVER OF HENDRIX. AND GAINES WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HIM.

    His tuning for Freebird was E-A-D-G-G-E, He mainly used open E for slide but he would use standard from time to time.

      It’s just like anything else, Scott: you gotta put your time in. and you got to humble yourself and know that the guitarist you are learning from has got some good musical ideas too.
      You’re doing a good job- I hope you’re playing out regularly... and making some walking around money !

    Pershee-ate it, Scott!
    I used to be able to whistle when i said that, but the upper plate in my false teeth gets in the way now, lol.
    One of my all-time fav-o-rite songs, cuz i like the guitar sounds.
    Whazzat a Dobro for the slide solo? Kinda sounds like some kinda rezzer-nator. Perty sure Steve or some-body played one sometimes.
    Skynyrd forever!
    Yay.

  • @thebluesrockers
    @thebluesrockers 11 месяцев назад

    Scott, I have to ask. As a life long fan as I'm sure you're are, who would you say created the hardest guitar parts in the band? Steve Gains, Ed King, Allen Collins or Gary Rossington?
    They all sounded great together but I've always been a huge Rossington fan but Allen created the master piece solo on "Free Bird." However, "I Know A Little is just insane.. Steve Gains killed it on that one. Then again, Ed King sure wasn't chump change either. I figured you of all people would know the answer to this question.
    Also tell MR Groove maker that I've always loved his drum work. I wish I lived closer to you guys. Peace.. Joe

    • @seraines
      @seraines  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Joe. All of them had their own quirky styles that provided challenges. Not just in finding and executing the notes, but the subtle nuances that were so individually unique.
