Fantastic video Ana, beautiful blooms. The Echinocereus at the end was absolutely stunning. With the Gymno hybrid I do have to mention that full credit goes to Conrad Barrowclough of The Cactus Shed for actually creating it, that’s where I got mine from. I do have another one on order, variegated 😁 Thank you for sharing with us as always Ana, from Edith & myself, be safe and well and have a wonderful Sunday 😊🌵☀️🌸🌼🌺🏜☕️
Gymnos are amazing cacti. One of my most faves. 🥰 Love their form and their blooms. They are quite easy to hybridize too. Only downside to that is that it’s hard to ID them when they are hybrids. 😬 Love the bonus clip too. The flowers on that Hedgehog cactus are to die for. 😍 Enjoyed the video, sis. Ingat lagi 😍❤️🙏🌺🌸🥰
Thanks Daz for letting me use your photos. It was a last minute decision to include it but I think it was worth mentioning. I tried cross pollinating mine, too so I can get the same hybrid. But then, with the bees flying freely on all those flowers, I would most likely get a “halo-halo” hybrid instead. 😂🤣 Edith... translate! 😉
You’re welcome, Ana 😊 Really hope you manage to create this hybrid as well, look forward to seeing the results. Yes Edith is going to have to translate that for me haha 😂🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜☕️
We LOVE Gymnocalyciums so much and yours are absolutely BEAUTIFUL Ana, this is such a wonderful and very informative video on these beauties, and WOW at your Echinocereus and Opuntia too, we have our Gymnos all coming up into bud now so exciting, but our cacti are way behind yours with the flowering, we wish we had your climate here and the bright sunshine these cacti love to get, although we have had amazing sun and heat the last few weeks with 70 F temperatures during the days, but its now just 48 F today and frost is even forecast for tonight in the UK and Ireland, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful video Ana, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and CACTUS POWER from across the Emerald Isle to Las Vegas for a sunny and safe Sunday today XXXX
Thank you so much, Lyn. Wow, your weather is really a challenge. And I admire you for being able to adjust to it. I’m enjoying the flowers while they last. Come summer, my cacti will enter their second round of resting as it will be very hot here. During that time, I will be watching your blooms! 😊🌸🌺🌼🌵Wishing you lots of flowers, as you always do! Cheers.
Very beautiful flowers!! When I was young back in the 1970s I used to see this echinocereus growing in the Santa Rita mountains south of Tucson. It would grow in grassy glades in the lower elevations. I've always loved this cactus all though it seems to be a challenge here in the greenhouse in the Ozarks. From Morris park in the Ozarks have a blooming great day!!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌴🌻🌿
Clyde Morris, oh how I would love to see how those echinocereus grow in the wild. 😃 Arizona is in my bucket list. Thanks Clyde for stopping by once again. ☺️
Ok... I'm learning something new. I see a lot of these echinopsis, parodia look alike.. but the flower specifies its identity. Wow..ok. so I have an echinopsis but I really don't know if its the Balloon or the rainbow.. it looks like both! This is amazing!!!
Absolutely beautiful blooms Ana!!! The rainbow cactus bloom at the end oh my gosh looks almost velvety and so very beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing those blooms and all the info about gymno cacti as well!!! 🌵❤️
Hi Ana! Wonderful stunning collection 😍😍. Love ...love all the beautiful flowers. Nice gymno collection. Now Daz can become rich as he's come up with a new breed of gymno 😊😊. I like the hedgehog flowers too...such a huge bright pink. My hedgehogs aren't doing too good...they've been about the same size for quite sometime now. All the best to you, Ana 👍👍👏👏💐🌻🥀
wow! so nice flowers! because of you i am now a cactusmaniac! i get about 400 plants in few months after looking my first vudeo from you. all my plants are very small size but, i hope next year to get some beautiful flower. i hope also to not do many mistakes. sorry for my bad inglish ciao
1:32..... Bless you!!! I love seeing cactus blooms!!! It's hard to believe that such prickly, poking things can have such beautiful flowers!! Thank you for all of the information...watching videos like yours has inspired me to get a few cacti and try to see if I can get them to bloom! :D
klcpca, my son said thank you and sorry for sneezing during the video. 😄 Good luck to you. Gymnocalycium and mammillaria are easy bloomers so you may want to start with those. 🙂👍🏼🌵☕️
Great vídeo Ana, I loved to know how to identify a Gymnocalycium. I have a lot of succulents and no problem to identify them except for desert cacti. For years I avoided them because of the spines but now I am buying some and I feel a bit uneasy and ignorant about them. Thank you. Oh I loved the flowers of the Echinocereus at the end. Absolutely gorgeous ❤️
Thank you Fernanda! Yes, those Echinocereus surprised me as well. I’m glad I was able to capture it. There are some cacti with friendlier spines. 😉 Just stay away from those with little glochid hairs. 🙂🌵
I always watch your new videos. I may not comment but i watched almost all of your videos already. I have been watching videos about cactus before then i have watched yours, i like yours more.🙂😉
Hallo, dear Ana. I love watch your videos! So great, i learned from you..but yet, I no that I know just a little bit - so more and more learning. HELP! I buy Gymnocalycium very smal with almoust open flover, pink (ust like your wihth some dark marks so sudnely (?!?) the flawor close, a begun a very soft. It was a couple cold night. Today I bring inside where is temerature is higher, where is reguraly been...and wait. What should I do? Is flawor frozen? (sorry my english is not so good). Thank you for all yours videos, speach, tips etc...💝
Fantastic video Ana, beautiful blooms. The Echinocereus at the end was absolutely stunning. I have a moon cactus that had flower buds, not bloomed yet but it fell down and broke its buds. I have not seen any budding or flowering since, so i'm a little worried. Will it flower again?
Anna, I wonder if the reason why your Opuntia changed colors is because of the medium youre growing it in. You said when you bought it, it was one color but then later, when it was planted in the ground it was the lovely peach color you showed in your vid. I had some Irises that did that. When i bought them they were a golden brown. I thought, what an unusual color. But when the bulbs bloomed in my garden they were purple. Maybe that's why it changed?
Yes, soil composition and even fertilizer can change their color. But some cacti flowers change color overnight. Those are something that is unique to the particular cactus, such as Opuntia Pina Colada. 😉
This was a really fun episode. Thank you for sharing. I have one gymnocalicium that I know of. I think I like this genus and need to get more. I like G damsii purple blush. Cactimania's hybrid is neat. Will you be making one? I love that orange flower on your opuntia. So neat the flowers are unpredictable.
I try to cross pollinate but with bees flying freely in my backyard, I don’t really know what hybrid I will end up with. 😄 It is not a controlled environment. Thanks Des!
1:32 The big pink flowers, is a Gymnocalycium monvillei syn. G. archirasense. Not sure about the varity, might be Gymnocalycium monvillei var. orientale.
Hi Ana ! Kamusta ka na ? My Gymnocalicium has tons of buds. They all fully formed with color pink petals but their flowers never open fully . Does it like to get more sun ? Or more heat ? Or both ? Does it bloom in the middle of the day ? I don’t know 🤷🏻♀️ why the petals won’t open fully . Hoping You can help ! 🙏🏽😃🌸🌵
Judy Patootie they need more heat than sun. My gymnos don’t fully open until around 3pm when it is hottest, even though they are under shade. But then again, sun will bring the heat. In my case, heat is everywhere. 😄

My most favorite type of cactus. At our country we have to buy imported gymno at most time, so price is high and variety is less. Nice collection
Sensational eye-popping pink flowers on your cactus towards the end of video!

I'm sure it will bloom again, it may not be this same season but given the proper care, a cactus will always flower. ☺
The blooms are unbelieveable! - Ruthie

Hi miss ana
Do you gymnocalycium flower in a specific time cause they kinda open here in our place in noon or im doing something wrong
1:32 The big pink flowers, is a Gymnocalycium monvillei syn. G. archirasense. Not sure about the varity, might be Gymnocalycium monvillei var. orientale.
Axel Krieger oh my! Finally! Thank you so much. 👍🏼🌵🌸 I’ve been looking it up in the internet with no success. Now it finally has a name. 😃
@@CactusCaffeine yes! Is monvillei 👍

Cactus Caffeine Ahh ... ok 👍🏽 Got it ! Hopefully, the other buds will open . If not , sayang naman . So many buds right now . 😃
Anna, what is the difference between a Notocactus and a Gymnocalycium ? They look exactly the same to me.
You can tell the difference when they flower. Notocactus will have hairs covering the flower buds while gymnocalycium have “naked” or smooth buds. 🙂
When do they usually bloom?
Do they like full sun??
My cactus bloomed five flowers and I put a cotton ball on top of a toothpick and pollinated them. will it grow fruit?
🌵And your cacti are beautiful🌵
Some cactus needs to be pollinated with another cactus. But some can be just by itself. If the pollination is successful, it will develop a fruit/seed pod. 😊 Good luck.
