Cannot remember if this is your first time reacting to Nightwish with Anette Olzon's female vocals, but I still decided to share what Steve Harris, the founder, principal composer & bassist/keyboardist of the world's all time greatest metal band IRON MAIDEN said about Tuomas Holopainen & Nightwish with Anette Olzon in 2015 before he had heard their latest album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" with Floor on vocals.
Steve Harris: “When I heard [2007’s] Dark Passion Play, I couldn’t believe it. I thought, ‘Now, this is a proper fucking album.’ It’s got everything bar the kitchen sink in there. It was controversial because of the new singer Anette Olzon, but she was brilliant. No disrespect to Tarja, but Anette’s voice suited them a lot better. There’s heavy stuff, classical, even a bit of Disney - all kinds of shit in there. I think it’s one of the best-sounding albums I’ve ever heard in my life. Then I got the next one, [2011’s] Imaginaerum. Storytime is a fantastic, instant song. The rest of the album took me a while to get into. Dark Passion Play was so good, I thought there was no way they could ever come up with an album that’s anywhere near that, but the more I got into Imaginaerum, the more I loved it. I haven’t heard the new one with Floor Jansen yet, but those two albums for me - I don’t think there’s anything else that I’ve heard out there that’s even close.”

I just got into the "show Anette some love" mood today, uploaded video of Anette's Bye Bye Beautiful LIVE in Hong Kong 2008 (with lyric) and then this video shows up! What a perfect day! 🤘🏼
Yes, Floor makes every song LIVE better now but Anette, during her prime is not that far behind (as keeping it close to the studio version tone at least). Just watch BBB Hong Kong 2008 and of course, Scaretale, for example. And some songs that were removed from the Imaginareum tour setlist post-Anette, Escapist (bonus track Dark Passion Play) and this song, Rest Calm, IMHO will always belong to Anette, along with (studio version-can't find any decent live recording) Whoever Brings The Night, Turn Loose The Mermaids, Cadence of Her Last Breath and The Crow The Owl And The Dove to name a few. When Nightwish is recording their albums, they have used now years same contacts from London. One orchestra and two choirs (one adult, one children choir). Pip Williams is leader of that orchestra, so, he is almost like 7th Nightwish member :D

1 from the Tarja ear thats a bit underrated is "higher than hope" that track does have a backstory to it
another 1 underrated from Tarja's era is "beauty OF the beast" not to get confused with their other tracks "beauty AND the beast"which does feature "something" we will never hear again.. hoping no one says what the "something" is
I actually did not become a Nightwish fan Until I heard the song bye bye beautiful and that was fronted by Annette ( the Jan Brady of nightwish) She's actually my second favorite singer behind floor Kristin is this the 1st time you heard Anette
i like floor most as singer. But 2 albums with Annette are my favorites. I think the best part of Nightwish is that we have 3 very different singers and sounds. I couldnt listen 15 years of Tarja songs, she is one dimensional. It becomes very boring.
