    The ump missing that filthy 69mph cold strike 3 to Muncy then taking Darvish deep a couple pitches later, plus the missed strike 2 call to Freddie in the first changing the whole dynamic of the at bat almost made me turn my TV off. Great battle back by the padres but that game was way too stressful. I know there were calls that went the padres way as well but I like leaving it up to the players not the umps. Also I would never would actually turn the TV off for a padres playoff game but might be down for a robotic strike-zone.

    • @notmyname6452

      Exactly this. When we have a precise, unbiased solution ready and available there’s no reason to hesitate. Players, fans, umps… everyone stands to benefit.

    • @mofosoto
      @mofosoto Год назад +4

      He kept calling important second strikes on the Pads that were balls. He did call a few against the Dogs but they were usually all strike ones(first strikes) It's easier to recover with 2 strikes left than one. We wanted robo-umps but they gave us pitch clock and defensive shifts. Both things we didn't care for, but they had to do something so they can hold it off for as long as possible. It's the only way they can control the game; if they give up balls and strikes, the games will be much harder to rig. If they want to speed the game up then they should limit the number of foul balls you can hit. Should be like after 2 strikes, you're out on the 3rd or 4th foul ball.

    • @notmyname6452
      @notmyname6452 Год назад

      @@mofosoto tough to call people out on fouls. Removing defensive shifts is a significant downgrade imo. No idea where they came up with that as an improvement

    • @mofosoto
      @mofosoto Год назад

      @@notmyname6452 it would basically be the same as a bunt fouled with 2 strikes. Same concept, sure there are battles but an 8 or 9 pitch at bat is still battling and takes forever. It's like a, "How many strikes should a batter get?" kinda thing. It's just an idea that I came up with just now. I'm totally fine with the shift too.

    As this game clearly showed, the problem with the league isn’t pace of play it’s that 1/2 of the teams aren’t competing and front office execs think real life baseball can be managed like their fantasy sports teams.

      Our Giants choked huge last year when Belt bunted his way out of being a part of the Playoffs...the team completely deflated after he was injured.
      This year was not organized ball. Like tossing out a confused group instead of a coherent one. This can easily be adjusted but there is work to be done. Maybe Kerr and company can go teach them how to win as a cohesively organized team+organization.
      Something tells me this Padres team will play well but not go further. Dodgers will be beaten by my pick=Phillies (but can be 2nd year beating by the Braves).
