Great reaction, thanks! Definitely one of my favorite songs off the new album. I really enjoy the mix of progressive metal, metalcore, hardcore and that very, very BABYMETAL chorus. Su-metal said about "Mirror Mirror": "it talks about how other people can see you, but you can only see yourself in a mirror, and that may not be your true self - yet ultimately, you’re the only one that truly discerns what you really look like. So in the end, it’s like asking yourself who you really are." Yes it's obvious they are more mature now... keep in mind that they started 13 years ago and they were 12 and 11yo at the time. It has been a real growth in all aspects. And yes, they are badass but in a good way, without being rude. They are actually very humble and kind Don't worry about us (we are not going anywhere) or the videos, just take care of yours. Until next time! 🤘🦊
Thank you very much @Road-runner ! I appreciate that last sentiment a lot. Finding time lately has been brutal, but I'm making it work. I'd have to say that this is probably one of my favorites of theirs (their earlier stuff is really good but this one had a lot of cool stuff in it musically). Reading through what you said about the lyrics, boy does that resonate with me. I often feel like I'm lost in life and just can't figure out what or who I want to be or am. Its exhausting. You earned a pin my friend!
great show bro, I have been listening to their new album on repeat everyday since before it came out, and am not bored in the least, I think it is their finest work.
Great reaction - and as has been said already, there is no rush, do what you need to and take your time - it's not like we'll be going away, so as and when you can post BABYMETAL reactions we'll still be here waiting. Rick Wagner already said about Momoko (now Momometal) and how she was dancing with BABYMETAL as one of three Avengers since 2019. The concerts where this video was recorded on 1st and 2nd April were where she was revealed as the new third member. This isn't the first time they have had Prog metal elements in their songs - I see 'Tales of the Destinies' has already been mentioned and that (according to Mike Portnoy) is "full on Prog metal". A couple of songs that really showcase Su's vocals would be The First Take video for a piano version of 'Monochrome' (you might want to watch the original lyric video first - and follow the piano version with a live performance), or 'The One - Stairway to Living Legend', but this one is likely to be blocked unless you add a watermark or something over the video.
All the groups you mentioned are currently touring the States or will be in the next few months!! Babymetal has World Tour Dates at the end of August thru November in places like Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Orlando, Nashville, Cleveland, Moon Township in Pa, Boston, Manhattan, Philadelphia, Wallingford CT, Grand Rapids and Sterling Hts MI, Louisville KY, Milwaukee WI, and even one in Toronto Canada.... So go get you damn ticket before they sell out!! Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Seattle, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Inglewood, Vancouver....the list goes on!!! Germany, Norway, Sweeden, Austria....... More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Great reaction. The girls have faced many challenges over the past 13 years, but they have remained very dedicated to their music. They have grown up to be attractive and beautiful ladies, but they still have their humble personalities. You can hear Su and Moa singing almost live in the Monochrome piano version on YT Channel's THE FIRST TAKE.
100%, check out Monochrome First Take version and Monochrome Live (newly released live compilation). I almost teared up in the newly released live version during the audience interaction segment...wooo!
I sometimes see these comments that seem to stem from insecurity. Good thing Babymetal don't suffer from it because they appear to have a blast performing Doki Doki Morning and IINE again. 😉
100%. I also feel like the bands aren't going to win either way. If they stay the same people will say they never grew as artists (Limp Bizkit comes to mind) but if they change people will say they went too poppy or sold out (Linkin Park). They just gotta do what they feel is right. And I think they did that.
Yes, the member on the left (Momoko Okazaki) you mentioned is a more recent addition to BABYMETAL. Although she was an "avenger" (supporting dancer) since 2019, she became an official part of the group earlier this year. Her BABYMETAL name is Momometal.
About the “women empowerment” approach in almost every case of western performers nowadays, they try to do so by copying every bad stereotype of men and all they manage is to come across as trashy, filthy, gross ‘bad bitch”… no sane men wants that in his life. When you read the lyrics of Megitsune, match it with the video (badass knife microphone on top) and realize that they were performing a “feminist” song, without irritating anybody, being elegant and charming… those 13-13-15 year old girls did something only adult women like Alanah Myles, Sharleen Spiteri, and some others had done before. It’s been a joy to see them grow over the years 😮😃
Just like there are men who have ONKY dealt with those kind of women there are women who have ONKY dealt with those kind of men. But I agree. That's why I made sure ei mentioned that in my discussion because sometimes the default is to just be overly aggressive and to shit on men. They aren't doing that.
This song has similiar vibes with Static-X - The Only, not much. The Other One album definitely fills in a lot Industrial style. Make it more catchy. Which is nice. Try listen to BabyMetal Believing from the same album. Another Prog Industrial Metal See you on the next song.
Hi McFly. New subscriber here. Just wanted to say a few things. Firstly. About your personal troubles. Hope you and your wife can work that all out what ever it is. Just gotta keep the communication open if its a personal family matter. Either way, not our business, just hate seeing people hurting. Second thing. I very much agree with you that the girls would make AMAZING role models for girls and women everywhere. The 3, sort of 4 if you include Yui as both Su and Moa have stated that Yui will always be part of the Babymetal family, are super humble, good people by all accounts. I'd even make a bet that if you were to TELL Su-Metal that she was a role model she would probably say she doesn't think she'd be good enough for that. These ladies are super humble, quirky, kind, and very down to Earth. You're not going to see them wearing Prada, or LV or anything like that. They still keep things real and humble to this day. There's even a picture, for instance, of Su, Moa, and Momo walking in an airport and you see Su-Metal wearing a Ramones shirt lol Lastly I have a bit of a suggestion for you which might be an interesting experiment for you that you might enjoy trying. You stated you wanted to do a more recent song again, and you also stated you wanted to do a song that highlights Su's vocals. You also stated earlier in the video that Su's voice has matured and gotten better, but you couldn't put your finger on quite what it is that has improved. So here's where my suggestion comes in. React to Monochrome piano version from the First Take. Perhaps on the same reaction after that, or before that, react to Akatsuki Unfinished. Akatsuki Unfinished is a song that is just Su's vocals with a piano and some string instruments. It was sung when Su was only 16. It was also the ONLY time she ever sang this version of Akatsuki sadly. It's a very emotional song where even SHE has tears at the end of the song. It's even more obvious during the next song she sang after that as you can see some of her makeup is running lol Monochrome piano version is also pretty much a Su solo (although Moa does very basic backup vocals with 3 girls who we think are girls that Babymetal is possibly bringing in to do Babymetal's very early stuff that is more childish and wouldn't fit with the girls being as old as they are now), but was done recently so you'll be able to compare Su-Metal back then, with Su-Metal now. Anyhow, hopefully that gives you something to try out :)
Monochrome was the one I was thinking of when I said that and that will definitely be the next one. Stuff isn't with my wife it's with someone else in the family that we have to deal with. But I appreciate the kind words. I'm super excited to see Su's voice on display.
Thanks for the Babymetal reaction. There's definitely quite a bit of proggy metal on the new album. Check out Tales of the Destinies live at Tokyo Dome 2016 sometime, it is their proggiest song imo. And don't overwork yourself, it sounds like you have a lot going on.
This isn't my cup of tea, but production, the sound and stage performance most excellent. I know of others that enjoy the band. So a fire 3 of 5 for me.
It's not for everyone for sure! But the uniqueness of their band as well as the overall skill of the band and Su's voice. It's hard to not love them, imo.
Nice reaction and no rush pumping out videos. Do it at a pace you feel comfortable with, we are not going anywhere ❤ As you said, Babymetal has grown up now and Su’s voice has defo matured and she does feel more comfortable now. As others said, if you like prog, check out “Tales of the Destinies “. Unfortunately, it has only ever been performed live once at the 2016 Tokyo Dome show. 🤘🔥🦊
Great reaction, thanks!

Honestly I really like this song. I'm interested in listening to their new album.

@@mcflyjp Looking forward to it🤘🦊♪
You are right. Su's voice has only gotten better and has clearly outgrown the cutesy kawaii stuff.
Idk if that's a compliment or a criticism lol
I sometimes see these comments that seem to stem from insecurity. Good thing Babymetal don't suffer from it because they appear to have a blast performing Doki Doki Morning and IINE again. 😉
@@mcflyjp It's neither. Just an observation. But I do think some fans want them to be 13 years old forever.
@@schneider1112 Not what I meant. I mean new material. They need to grow as artists. I think the new album does show that growth.
