I remember being a really young kid, absolutely terrified but fascinated while watching my mom play this on her computer. This game led to me discovering the musical Phantom of the Opera, which in turn led to me falling in love with the world of theatre. Went on to study theatre in high school, majored in it in college, and today now teach it at a performing arts school i co-own. Strange as it seems, this game was one of the most influential, impacting things in my life. It helped to make me the man i am today.
The game starts out as a neat little mystery, then makes a turn for the "Wtf?" and then gets all "Seriously, WTF?!" when you reach his lair. And the ending... man... This game...
Lol, the woman screaming at 4:16 scared the shit out of me as a kid. My Mom bought it for me because we'd seen Phantom of the Opera together, was not expecting the sinister vibes this game had in some places. I did not enjoy getting burnt to a crisp in the labyrinth trap either, dude screaming as he burns to death. Haha, so easily scared back then and it would last for days.
Aw man, I have this game on CD still! Even the music in the game, part of it's from Bach's organ works (I have to look up the title, but that's part of why I loved this game so much.)I didn't even know this game had a voice acting version, this is a treat for me to see. Could you upload the manual that came on the CD with it? I loved the line work in it. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Oh good, you have the voices loaded. I haven't played this in years, my first computer I think, like 1994! It crashed whenever the phantom showed up with Christine in the coffin (I think it was) so I never could beat it.
Hahaha. I love that visual.:D What do you mean about the manual? If you'd like to see it, if you search for the game at archive.org you can find the CD image pretty easily
I have often wanted to hear the complete game soundtrack without the voices. I was obsessed with this game as a child. I was five when it came out.. I never did mind the voice acting but the pronunciation of "Daae" always irritated me. Thank you for uploading this!!
This long play of RoTP is my favorite as it uses the same sound card that I used to play it in 93’. To me, this**is how it’s supposed to sound, not those other versions lol
They should have used the graphic of the chandelier from the end of the game in the opening cut scene, just remove the characters and there’s your chandelier fall animation. It never looked right the way they illustrated the chandelier in that cut scene. You could never have walked on that.
Oswald Epic Loquendero Dos was epically capable in the right hands :) PCs had an insane amount more power than consoles of the time. I think the margin of difference in the early 90s was way larger than it is today
@@NintendoComplete Yeah I was thrilled when I finally got a PC about 1991. A few years before I had been practically drooling looking at magazines over how much better the games looked than the consoles. Amiga was stunning about 1987 and then PC got VGA graphics adapter about 1989 and it was also stunning! I bought this Return of the Phantom game on discount sometime in the early 90s but never got very far. Got too busy and quit playing games but it looked good and the Pro Audio Spectrum sound was good

That's so cool
What it lacks in gameplay, it certain makes up for in its excellent storytelling and atmosphere. Super creepy - I love it!
Agreed...

by god, even synth Bach is absolutely transcendent.

1:48:00 Your save file names made me laugh, especially '...hefty bag of soup'.
Hahaha. I love that visual.:D

What a great ending for this game this is really awesome it's a lot better than Laura bow the dagger of Amon Ra
Rosendo Martinez Yes, thank God there's no stupid notebook!
So if the Phantom dies in he past, then he shouldnt be able to push you off the catwalk, which sends you into the past , where you cause his death.
Lol 😂 that thumbnail
2:03:19 Christine's voice gets real deep for a second.
You know u could click on phantoms eyes xD

I played only a little bit of this game. It might've just been the demo.
