    Just about to have my first experience of grooved and drilled discs. Got a set from a reputable specialist on clearance for 40 quid. They are going on a Jeep Cherokee 3.7 petrol. The brakes are reasonable anyway but these will interesting.

      Look forward to hearing your feedback - never experienced drilled and grooved on an SUV :)

    Great video, would be interested in seeing the R&D data mtec have behind which disks dissipate heat best

      Thanks Jack! I’ll ask the MTEC team and see if they have any data sheets they can share!

    Let’s be totally honest, the biggest benefit is they look better. Never seen a drill disc on a serious racing vehicle.

    Tempted to buy but heard bad things about them

      I can only talk from my experience and both sets I’ve had were brilliant - and that’s not considering the process vs say Brembos

      @@JLMTAuto what’s the noise like when driving

    • @JLMTAuto
      @JLMTAuto  5 месяцев назад

      @MaccaIRL1 not noticeable when driving normally on open roads. If you drive past a wall with the window down you get a slight echo but nothing intrusive. Finally when braking you do get a noise in the cabin but only really noticeable under hard braking which I didn’t mind - made me realise when I was hitting the brakes hard!

    Are those discs on the right way around?!🤔

    • @JLMTAuto
      @JLMTAuto  3 месяца назад +1

      They always look the wrong way but MTEC give you a guide plus the discs are marked up to make sure you get it right!

      @@JLMTAuto that's interesting thanks, I've just bought the exact same discs for my Impreza and there's no Left or Right marking on them... Thanks for the reply👍🏻👌🏻

      @@JLMTAutono guide in the boxes at all and the discs weren't marked...🤔 I've since seen that if the internal cooling vanes are straight like the mtec discs are, it's supposedly not an issue which way the dimples and grooves rotate... Whether it's true or not I'm not sure...🤷🏼‍♂️😅

      @@Harryjones05 I think the only thing it will effect is the noise under braking and how the layer of pad is ejected out - just found this www.mtecbrakes.com/brake_disc_fitting_bedding_in
