The world often portrays life as being dominated by those who have superior “power”. What if there was a way to obtain ultimate confidence, reliable self-defense, and mastery of your true self?
Many people who train, or those who may not train as much, have a misconception of what true strength is. There are many different systems of combat, self-defense, and martial arts that may not emphasize the concept of yin and yang, soft and hard or empty and full.
Wing Chun, is one of the few arts that gave birth to the concept of harmonizing soft and hard principles to overcome an enemy. This is truly a beautiful journey into the world of Wing Chun, and how its influence continues until this day.

I'm a boxing coach, so I don't know a whole lot about eastern martial arts, especially tai chi, but I do know that it's possible for the techniques to be used effectively. Sparring, sparring, sparring. It's not about heavy sparring either. Even touch sparring is extremely useful to give you the experience to recognize the right time to use any technique, and it conditions you to stay calm even when you get tagged in the face.

My Sifu emphasized that Tai Chi was always used as a means of defense not for attack which is one of the reasons that it is effective as a means of repelling or deflecting an attack rather than trying to use it as an offensive force. Thank you Sifu, for sharing your knowledge! ☯️✌️🕉️

      "was always used as a"
Well its usually up to the free will of the individual how they use tai chi and what for.
Reacting always takes more time than action. We can say its a fact well known in biology.
In a situation every time you give your opponent a chance to act, there will be a chance that you get hurt.
Dont let them have the chance.
Being submissive in a fight situation is not a combat tactics that comes from any principle of taichi - of course there are people with enough skill who can take control over situations, it is possible to do so. But safety sometimes come first. Attackers usually, but not necessarily have the benefit.

How you use it? If he’s pushing you with that right hand/arm - then The left hand goes to trap the arm from the outside. The palm strike goes to the shoulder joint of the extended arm, and you turn your stance. It’s a Shuai Takedown. “4 ounce move one ton.” Grappling is Leverage and Angles. He mentioned body armor for historical context. Perfect. You don’t palm strike or punch armor. You take the down. Then do the stabby stabby. Salute to him for bringing up armor, most never consider the time period of arts. Chinese Military Fighting: Jiao Li Wrestling, Short Weaponry, Archery and Polearms.

To try to use the kata in the technic is only telegraphing what you want to use on your attacker and lets them turn it against you!...

    • @jimmybutler3728

I have used that knowledge for my own defense, knowing their kata's, beat them to their attacks at me to make my defense my counter- attack on the attacker, for they practice their training till they telegraph their attack before using it! use only that which is need to win; not the whole method that was taught...

@@DarkstreamLIVES I subscribed. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about the efficacy of Wing Chun or other arts for someone wheelchair bound. I have a few years of Krav Maga training and I am looking to explore more for self defense. Any thoughts? I'm even open to ideas for defense for someone seated who must remain seated ie in a wheelchair?

@@cb21235 Thank you! With regards to martial arts in a wheelchair, there are aspects of many styles that could help; Wing Chun, Aikido, Krav Maga as well as Filipino styles. It really depends on the experience, creativity and versatility of the instructor, though I wouldn't stick to one style.

@@DarkstreamLIVES I've spoken to instructors that have traveled the world and it seems that martial arts for the wheelchair bound barely exist at all. Granted I'm not saying it would be easy to come up with moves but it's a virtually untapped market. How would you feel about posting videos on the topic? I know it's a challenge but martial arts are too great not to be shared
