This brought back some memories! Thanks for posting. There were two General Election nights in 1974: from the context this one is the first: on February 28th.
Come to think of it perhaps we have been a bit unfair. He was the impersonator that everyone impersonated, he gave the guestures and catch phrases that everyone else copied (Ted Heath's laugh, I mean that most sincerely folks, silly Billies etc.) He was also a family entertainer unlike those that followed him. I can't imagine someone like Ben Elton getting the all time TV coverage record!
Pipe down you fool, it's a great Harold Wilson and a good Heath. 9 out of the 10 people repeating the tired line about Yarwood being bad can't even remember him the first time round, let alone know who Wilson/Heath are.
No, they have not. There are too many nanny state/fanny state dictators stepping on other peoples toes and sticking their unwanted oars into our business.
GREAT UP- LOAD !!MISS THE GOOD OLD DAYS TRUE LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AT ITS VERY BEST !!!THE 1990'S --- TELEVSION IS TRASH UP TO THE PRESENT !!!!ITS NOT QUALITY BUT QUANTITY AND RATINGS !!FROM (U.K.)
TO,CHATHAM43,I HAVE THE AUTOGRAPH OF MIKE YARWOOD STILL !!!!HE WAS PURE TALENT !!AS SOON HE WAS ON STAGE I STARTED TO GIGGLE AND LAUGH !!!!R.I.P. TO HIM.FROM (U.K.).
when Jim Callahan became the PM Mike could never quite get him right, and of course when MrsT was elected, he joined forces with Janet Brown in an ITV show, but during the 80's the Labour movement was in such a mess that the "alternative comedy" effectively became the opposition, and Steve Mallon and Rory Breminer took over on the political impressions, Mike did have a try at Neil Kinnock, but his material was just to soft for the time, and Rory Breminer stoll the limelight, with topical humour.
he could only do about 3 impressions and if he didnt dress like the people he TRIED to impersonate you would never guess who it was, glad he is no longer on TV
Yarwood was a genius. This is brilliant.
RIP Mike Yarwood.
Yes mucker.
Brilliant! Yarwood is a genius! Cracked up laughing at that and loved the camera crew laughing in the background.
brilliant! can't believe it's taken me until now to watch this.

Excellent
His Eddie Waring always cracks me up.
Love seeing Alistair Burnett laughing at 3:53 at Heath giving inadvertently direct answers - impartiality at the BBC?
They were entirely impartial
Pure genius

The impressions are not bad, but the jokes are lame. Try being honest
Rip Mike yarwood 2023 xx
nice video
Robin Day nonchalantly chucking a lit match in the studio
"Hello Robin" says 'Heath' and the camera pans across to Robin Day lighting up a big cigar. How times have changed - for the better?
REALLY ?

@@pmajudge 3 years since you wrote that...Yarwood's still alive and well!!
Wrappers invented haters in 73 I think you will find...
His best impression, and he had many in his arsenal, but his physical similarity to Wilson was a gift horse not to be looked at in the mouth 😃
What's wrong with the sound??
Do you reckon it would have been better with a laugh track?
Belgrano Heath
Where did he disappear to...???
smoking in a telly studio
he was very talented xfactor is crap
Audit is bad audio
lol

Heath the perv
Was he just gay, or was he also a perv?
Zero evidence that’s the case other than a discredited muck raker. Back it up or withdraw
As I recall, he could not sing either.
Annoying it keeps cutting out
THis is breaking up all the while--not watchable.
Very poor material. Not especially good impressions either.
dreadful quality
@dilwich123 He was awful wasn't he!

R.I.P Mike Yarwood
