Is literally just a Kurt Cobain Mustang, and it’s wonderful.
The duo sonic HS, especially in daphne blue, is quite literally just the kurt Cobain mustang without the red tortoise pick guard and chrome bit underneath the knobs.
ya know, except for the bridge, body shape (the duo sonic and mustang are different shapes), pickup selector, knobs, pickguard...
Excellent; this is an object lesson in how to make a great demo video.
This is about seven years old, but just used this as a petite guitar beginner to help me find my perfect guitar. I grew up loving 90’s rock so this was great. Thank you sooo much!

This was great. You took me back to the '90's, great songs. The Capri Orange Duo Sonic has my attention, especially as it seems like a great way to get a genuine Fender at an affordable price.

Wow, I was really into strats and teles all the time, but these seem to be a good alternative. I've never had a chance to play one of these btw. Can you tell me how does it feel to play on a shorter scale (24") and what is the difference between new duo sonics and mustangs. Best wishes
You can go back to the 90's if you want...but these guitars date back to the 1950's and they still have that vibe inherent in them.

Kurt was 5'11 and prefferred off sets because they reminded him of Univox Hi Flyers.. he got his first mustang (the one in the teen spirit video) at Evergreen College in Olympia, Wa for around 20 bucks because the people selling it had just purchased some "new Kramers" and considered the 69' mustang to be a POS

Nice video ! I got the Duo Sonic HS recently and it's just awesome. So many tones possible. I don't even need to use pedals - just my amp with gain and overdrive controls. Thnaks for your quality reviews

I'm diggin' that P90 Mustang. I just ordered P90s and a P90 pearl white pickguard for my Bullet Mustang.
I have the P-90 equipped Mustang and that baby is an awesome tone monster.

I remember trying out the Duo Sonic at a guitar shop close to my apt before COVID 19 happened and it was great! At the time, I was looking for a guitar that had a coil splitter. I couldn't decide between the Duo Sonic or the Yamaha Revstar. I was also looking for a Mustang but one with a Humbucker in the bridge. I remember I looked up a Jazzmaster on the Facebook Marketplace but then I came across a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang in Candy Red. It was made to look and play like a Kurt Cobain Mustang. I had to sell a few of my guitars and some of my pedals to get it but I have no regrets.

I’m a huge KC fan. I have a Jagstang, Jaguar NOS, custom Vandalism strat and a 73 reissue OTM Competition Mustang that I consider my “Smells like teen spirit” guitar because its close to what Kurt used as well although his was an original 69 LPB one. I might get a KC Mustang but I’m pretty content with what I have. Now, I really like a lot of offset guitars and might get a sonic duo or maybe a Jazzmaster!

Great tone review my old close friend a awesome acoustic player no electric experience wants a really thin bodied electric guitar + I was gone get her the p 90 or the hb s but the duo sonic s s tone just is the one I think I prefered ,hope I can get any above in black. I saw three comments about the P90s sounding noisy. I can't hear that and I'm listening on a good system. What is my ear missing? I understand that P90s are single-coil and will hum, but I don't hear it on this vid. Anyone? Buehller?

I had a jaguar with p90s and it was pretty loud noise and humming. hard to describe something you have to experience for yourself but man the tone of the p90s is like nothing else. it's I thick clean sound and then a punchy metal type chug with distortion

cianc984 feel the due sonic is more versatile for a variety of genres but honestly, i'm buying the p90 cause I own a jazzmaster and love that I can get a mustang to sound similar

I've been arguing between one of these and the Squier Vintage Modified Mustang. I prefer the switching system, the tremolo, and the rosewood board on the Squier. But I'm worried about the quality of the Squier. Is this fender really that much better in terms of build?
Best thing to do is pop down to a store and try them both out. Are you in the UK?
I’ve played both and honestly? I kind of prefer the simple switching. In/out of phase is a neat trick but not in and of itself an argument for that style of guitar, and the stability and simplicity of the hard tail bridge is also compelling.

krist novaselic is a giant.... well, to me anyway. he's 6'7" and i'm pretty sure that kurt cobain was 5'6" or better..... but yeah, great guitars for sure.

I got my duo-sonic hs in that green (changed the pickguard tho) over a year ago and haven't regret a single day, it's a really great guitar, easy to play, good pickups. The difference between them is that the "Duo Sonic" has 2 single coils and "Duo Sonic HS" has neck single coil and bridge humbucker..i would take the version with humbucker, it's a more versatile guitar and also it has coil split feature which means you can basically switch the humbucker to single-coil.

Build quality and hardware are both better quality on the Fender.
What’s the difference between the duo sonic and mustang
Since no one answered, if you look closely the duo sonic actually isn’t offset but the mustang is that’s the main difference. So the curves on the sides of the body are the main difference, besides pickups in the different models.
