〈Pat Metheny Group〉
A fusion band centered around guitarist Pat Metheny and keyboardist Lyle Mays. Since its formation in 1977, the legendary band has been loved worldwide, exploring a diverse range of musical styles, including experimental works.
〈Overall Evaluation〉
【Form】
Roughly follows a three-part structure: "Theme" → "Interlude 1" → "Solo" → "Interlude 2" → "Theme" → "Outro."
Notable short interludes with a sustaining bass line.
Pop modulation occurs during the solo and Interlude 2.
【Rhythm】
The theme features an odd time signature (7/4).
Polyrhythm is achieved by assigning different time signatures to different parts.
The synchronization of all parts during the key moments adds to the impact.
The bass provides a simple rhythm, and the ride cymbal articulates intricate 16th notes.
【Melody and Harmony】
The melody has a slightly Middle Eastern flavor reminiscent of ethnic music.
Dorian mode is prevalent throughout the song.
Despite numerous leaps, the inclusion of stepwise progressions creates a surprisingly smooth and singable melody.
The V chords are almost exclusively in minor form, contributing to a modal feel.
Modal interchanges, especially using the Dorian mode (IIm/V, etc.), are frequent.
The avoidance of augmented thirds and the dominance of subdominant progressions contribute to a prevailing harmonic sense.
Phrase endings consistently resolve to the tonic, providing a strong foundation.
American music-style chord progressions emerge, including blues progressions (V - IV - I) and direct movements to the tonic or dominant (VI - I, VI - V).

聞いてみました。
これはすさまじくカッコよく独特な音楽ですね！
コード進行も変わってますが、拍子やリズムパターンがコロコロ変わるのがとても面白いです。
曲調もかなり激しく変わっていきますね。

メロディを歌っているひとも有名人ですからね。
それと、ギターでは跳躍は弾きやすいのですが、メセニーはオクターブで弾いていたり（もしや四度ハモリだったのか？）、二回目はオクターブ上がったりと、人外なことを（しかもハイポジションの弾きにくいフルアコで）やっていて真似できません😂
アドリブパートはブルースですが、途中で半音上に転調がしぶい。最後はDm(9,11)ですね。
なるほど、ギターの楽器法的にも難しいことをしてるんですね。

聞いてみましたが、これもブルースなんですね。
分かりにくいけど実はブルース、という曲結構ある気がするので、分析してみると面白いです。
