But Sachin was often seen losing his wicket at crucial stages of the matches he played, unfortunately he was not a chase master like Kohli . Except that Sharjah cup vs Australia, don't remember Sachin winning matches single handedly like Virat.. At the same time we cannot devalue Sachin, considering the injuries he suffered and being a big victim to Poor umpiring decisions by umpires like Steve Buckner and all ..There was no DRS review system, when Sachin was playing...Sachin was given out nearly 40-50 times or may be more due to poor or intentional umpiring.

Sometimes playing with the team in mind can really put u under pressure, and maybe break ur confidence... So having a peace of mind that OK, I only need to do my level best, and that's all the team needs from me... Can actually be a good strategy as it elevates a lot of pressure and unwanted expectations from u... So I guess he did get out on some occasions trying to play a shot, which might have helped his own mental space, and confidence rather than what the team as a whole would have needed from him at that time... But also keep in mind that the team also supported his play... They knew what he was good at, and didn't try to change his game... Just like what sehwag used to do, with his absolutely blasting batting in the first few overs... Or Dravid & Laxman, with their very slow batting... The team knew of their specific roles, and used them in their best way... Otherwise if they thought he wasn't a good team player he would have been kicked out soon... Wouldn't u say??? Lastly, most people are mad about his getting out in the 90s... And not particularly in situations where team needed him most... And the reason for that, if u heard the whole interview, is that the reverse swing would come into play only after 10-15 overs... So him getting that much runs before the reverse swing happened was his target... He actually said about this in another interview that players like gambhir, or dravid, etc, were much more comfortable against reverse swing compared to himself... So he wanted to avoid the reverse swing, as much as possible as it was especially difficult being a shorter player and keeping those lethal bouncers in mind, or the natural outswing or inswing, but then add reverse swing into that, and in his opinion, any batsman in his position would be destroyed...

Sachin was a legend, I remember in the 90s we in Pakistan used to pray he gets out early when playing against us, but this fcking guy would score ton of runs against best of our bowling sides again and again. He played the game at such a young age and had longevity like no other, but still was Mr. Clean all the way through in the era when Cricket had quite a few characters. Pakistan team was always filled to the brim with talented mavericks like Wasim, Waqar, Shaoib, Javed, Moin Khan etc, who were loud, brash, in your face but Sachin never backed down and he did it in a typically calm and quiet way, by scoring runs and more importantly winning. Pakistan still had better team, in my opinion, and more overall wins against India during that era but we never beat India in ICC World Cups, which would always hurt us. Sachin is a great example of great upbringing, salute and Salam to his parents.
