I’m teaching US history this year in texas. I just moved here, and am studying texas history. This video is an absolute gem. The man speaking has an almost flawless ability to tell stories. I can’t believe he continued so thoroughly for an hour and a half. I’m currently 40 min in- don’t want it to end!
I'm watching this for the third time and I'm legit Sam Houston's 8th cousin. and I freaking love this and will always watch this when I'm bored or need something to listen to in the background while doing school work. i love Sam's story and the Houston family was originally from Scottland.
3puttdog I think it’s accurate too. Especially at the end. Sam Houston even by his time’s standards was something of a Libertarian. He was one with some sense. Not like some of the clowns that call themselves Libertarian today.
Let's be real. Sam Houston had the man the Glue that wrote the treaty of velasco. Peter Grayson was liked by the Mexican government and good friends with president Jackson. Peter Grayson previously negotiated the release of Stephen F Austin from Prison in Mexico City. Peter Grayson the man with all the talents. The man that opened the door to the American west.
@@garyhouston113 who cares! He was not a good man. He was an evil, filthy mouthed greedy falling down drunkard glutton! He cheated on his wife, a godly woman. Why do you want to be a descendant to a pos like that? Thank God!!!

The Yellow rose has wilted, that one lone star has now started to dim. She has lost her fighting spirit. She has now become the same as all the other states, she was a fighter. Her people fought for her, she once had six flags fly over her. She had states acknowledged her independent spirt. We stood up to Santa Anna. She saw her defenders fall, she felt their blood flow on her land. She felt their sorrow. Still she felt how proud her children fought for her. Now she sees her self be torn apart. We no longer have that Fighting Texas spirit. We let others dictate to us. I think it would be best to fold those flags, destroy our history, good or bad, and be nailed down. We don't need that fighting spirit any more, up root all those Yellow Roses, and let sleep in peace. Her Spirit is not needed any more, how very dissapointed she must be, but at lest she will not feel her death. So let us forget the Alamo, maybe it's time.
Elegant but no. We will always be special. And someday when this great Union inevitably collapses Texas will raise its head again. So never forget the Alamo.
@@ReformedSooner24 Read your comment about The Alamo. I for one will never let a dimwitted liberal AKA dumbocrat try to convince me to forget one iota of the history of Texas. I thank GOD that l don't have kids in school in our time. I don't apologize for something in someone else in the past. Your moniker with 21, what does that stand for Iffen ya don't mind saying?

I’m passing this statue right now while watching this. Off I-45 exit 112 in Huntsville, Tx
My Great Uncle Sam would be honored at your dedication sir!
This Houston sure got a kick outta your performance! Thanks 🇺🇸❤🇺🇸
A truly fascinating character!
This EXCEPTIONAL performance, amazing! Very very informative ❤️
Good thing to learn that Sam Houston was not a secessionist, tried to keep Texas inside the Union without success.
Wow, what a phenomenal performance - and educational lesson!

Can someone tell me why Sam Houston chose the Houston City area to live. What a god awful climate!
Proximity to Galveston
That Hat is as big as his belly
Big beer gut
The Lying Lying Hearted
Evil monster
you got that look

And beside these people didn't have to fight for her they could have left long before the Alamo, maybe they should have done that.
Hans Nielsen he has creativity , can put his thoughts elegantly on paper, computer , phone . Which unfortunately you can't . Don't knock it .It's ok.
Fuck off loser!
