First time seeing your video I know absolutely nothing about welding, and don't ever plan to. I am a trucker. It was so nice seeing a video without hearing any profanity. Thanks for that. I know you guys make some good money, but that's a skill that key people have. So you are blessed there is a minister that I listen to name Bobby Conner. He lives in North Carolina but he's from Texas. It's grandson is a welder. Best wishes to you stay safe and God bless you.
🤣🤣🤣✌ Pipefitter/Fabricator for 30 years now !! Had my share of fittings, flanges, iso drawings etc. !! I did have the pleasure of working with an ole pipeliner welder for years !! He was 76 years old, and could still outweld the majority of young welders that passed through our fab shop !! He retired at 77 to take care of his dad that was 102 who was another one that welded till he was 76 then went to fitting till he was 82 !! Keep up the great videos !! ✌🤙👍😉
You prolly dont care at all but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Axl Bjorn Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I had a 2500 Silverado 6.0 and wish I had it back! Just an awesome engine! Chevy or GMC needs to put you in a commercial! Blessings my man! I appreciate good ole hard working guys like you! I was out there in the construction business for years and retired now so I enjoy seeing what you guys do!
You Josh and Jed are a fantastic team. Love your work, looks great. I've been in this business for 43 years and I hope that I will always be open minded to learning new approaches. Thanks for the channel Jake.
Everyone needs to be watching this videos! I’m going to Tulsa welding school in Houston , Texas right now to be a pipe welder/fitter. And these videos give me more and more motivation and drive everyday. 🇺🇸💥 everyone be blessed! God bless!
Because of CA new emmisions regulation just recently passed, have to sell out of state my 02 F550 7.3 dual transmission GV auto with the lowest odometer in the US and Canada.... FLat makes me sick what these bureaucrats get away with.
Jacob Schofield ya it does to bad I've had a slow summer it's my second yr running my rig going to get my 2" on the 9th love money Mondays they are encouraging. A.m.mobile welding Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada
Years ago on Instagram someone posted a shiny brand new welding truck next to a old decent truck. Everyone dogged it but my reply was I’d rather pick the old truck because it’s paid for itself over and over and maybe 10x. That new rig has a while before it is really starts turning profit. Great video someone had to say it 👍🏾
I'd pick the new one, better in every way. The old rig isn't gonna last as long. The old rig was once new and payed for itself many times over. Doesn't mean the old one is gonna keep doing that.
Great rig bro, Im a retired welder Fabricator of 38 years built ski lifts for 20 years towers catwalks Drive stations and then Fabricated Bank vaults & safes , I got tell you bro I do miss it Anyway Burn em Hot brother
Love it, off and on gas line welder myself . Keep getting people talking me into equipment mech. Like to weld and build tho. Keep on keeping on brother
I tub out of an 02 3\4 ton chevy 6.0 and I love it. I don't think I will ever buy/build a fancy show off rig. At the end of the day everything between my bumpers is paid for.
One of the best work trucks out there is anything with a 5.3 or 6.0. May have to stop at every gas station along the way but can't beat the reliability. Anything newer with emissions is garbage. Only thing better is a 12 valve IMO. 405K strong on mine and I'm about to take it 15 hours away to my next job pulling my camper without a worry in the world. Can't beat old school trucks with rock solid reliability!
My first rig was a tubbed 01 Dodge 24 valve with a 6 speed manual. My 10 year old son laid claim to it years ago. Lol. 321,000 miles on it and still running strong.
Jacob Schofield yes they are. They don't beat the 1st gen with the 12 valve though. Lol. I've travelled thousands upon thousands of miles in those hitting rodeos back in my youth.
Gas Chevy v8 is probably the safest bet and lowest operating/repair costs in trucks today.. and I was always a Ford guy🙄.. tired of the DEF and regenerative issues..
John W ive always been a chevy guy and i have a 6.0 gas truck like this one and i have a 08 f250 with the 6.4 and im telling you my ford gives me a ton of problems and is so expensive to fix but my chevy has never let me down and ive had 2 of them and put both through hell and they just wont quit on me
With fuel prices high as they are it's the smart choice to work out of it, plus why take a 70 plus grand truck out in the mud and muck when that one definitely does the job. Very smart decision on your part. God bless you and family.
Idk where you are at but fuel is pretty low here in texas and even in west Texas oil field lol not a penny over 215 in north texas and 260 in west only NC of price gouging
Good reasons to have that truck and gas is the way to go unless you need maximum towing. the 6.0 is a dog as far as gas truck motors go but it is stone ax reliable and easy to work on. I would say you made a good choice for what you need the truck for. The only thing I would have done different is to buy a one ton with duels from the start.
Retire Soon it wasn't a dog for its time. It was a 300-360 h.p./380-400ft lb of torque small black in the early 2000's. They had plenty of pulling power if the truck was geared right except for the heaviest loads.
It sure would be slick with a 12 valve in it, Deboss garage did a Chevy is that same body style he’d probably be able to help you out with what needs to be done if you ever want to go that route
All I have is an old 06 Tundra, right now. Buddy said he'd trade me for his 2017 long bed Tundra plus cash but not sure that step is worth it. Would obviously love a $80k 1 ton with a custom bed, but in the meantime to build some income, any suggestions on minimal setup to do some mobile welding while the wife does traveling healthcare work? Thanks all.
Gas vs Diesel welding rig. Assuming 35k miles/year Gas @2.17/g.... Diesel @2.75g. Gas getting 9mpg...Diesel getting 12mpg. Gas spends $8438/yr. Diesel spends $8020/yr. Savings of $418. NOW....subtract higher cost of oil changes. Gas using 7qts at $22.50 total. Diesel using 4gals @ $17/g. Oil change every 5k miles = 7 oil changes/yr. Gas cost in oil= $157.50/yr Diesel cost in oil=$476/yr. Strictly in oil changes alone, gas saved ...$318.50 by using less oil per change than the diesel. Total savings per year, accounting for oil and mpg's...The Diesel saves you $99.50/yr. Motor Trend showed the diesel option to cost an additional $8500 +/- over the 6.0gas engine. Assuming you replace you 6.0 gas every 200k miles at a cost $3500 parts/labor. And assuming the diesel engine gives zero issue at all....it will take 12yrs/400k miles before the diesel engine ever saves you a penny. But...diesel sure are fun to drive.
They are easy to work on, have the best aftermarket of any make, and parts are plentiful and cheap. I threw my Silverado together from three wrecks. (Cab swaps are easy.) NOTE: If you have sudden no-start issues it may be the anti-theft system. You can eliminate that shit with a computer reflash from lt1swap.com/programming.htm This is NOT a shill post! I also had rear O2 sensor delete and installed a Jegs downpipe since my cats were cut off when my donor was in salvage. The anti-theft system communicates with the body control module which is not fucking necessary, so now mine doesn't! Replacement engines are cheap from salvage. If your transmission shits the bed you can have one built with stronger clutch packs. Everything on those trucks is well known. I'd have given five grand for that truck in a heartbeat. >>>It's a very good idea to add a fuel pump access panel or door to your welding bed as the GM pumps aren't famous for durability.
GMC gassers have always been good, sold my old one, dude is still driving it. Always started when I turned the key. Only bad thing was I got 9 mpg wether I was Hualing 15k, or an empty bed.
Currently trying to plan a rig build and haven’t been able to decide between using me extended cab f250 7.3 or getting a new 6.7 and using that. Either way I’d be buying a new truck, just don’t know which ones going to be the play truck and which one will be strictly work
Like your vid. I agree with you, GM's Vortec V8 engines are bullet freaking proof. I also have a 95 Silverado ext cab sport side bed, I replaced the old 350 with the same 6.0 in yours with the steel block, and it's coming up on 300 grand miles, still runs like champ, just oil changes, tune ups and normal valve adjustments. Once this engine has reached it's usable lifespan, two options, rebuild or a brand new one, no muss no fuss. My Silverado HD, I freaking love it, that was the BEST HD frame GM ever built. The things that I have pulled with that truck without having to add endorsements on my license would have the local cops heads spinning. The Duramax diesel engines are great and all, however the electronics manufacturers put in diesels today is freaking ridiculous, it costs me more to maintain my dang truck than it actually makes me money. That's why I dropped the Cummins 12 valve in the HD chassis. I need a truck that gives me zero trouble, normal oil changes, and tune ups and keeps on trucking. And there is no better combination like GM's old HD frame and the Cummins. And that's what pisses off manufacturers, guys like us that don't let go of a good product. My welding rig makes me good money, I can afford a new truck every year, however I don't need a new truck every dang year. I buy things not to keep paying rent on it, I buy it, pay for it cash and then I use the living snot out of it until it disappears. Wish you the best and keep on trucking bro.
Can’t beat an LS ! Don’t care how much your oil burner puts out ... replacement of an LS is cheep and parts are abundant go try and find a specialty part for an oil burner ......$
And so many super cheap turbo kits for them too if he ever wants to get a little more power out of it for cheap. I think CX Racing kit is good for 500whp and 550 torque at 6 psi and you can still use pump gas.
What hub conversion did you use on your pickup and where did you get the wheels were they from the same conversion company the truck looks great with them on it
What song did you use for the intro?? Great video as always. I plan on getting a gm truck with a big block gas motor for my first welding rig as well. Love watching your videos man. Keep it up.
Leave a diesel stock and eco tune it and or leave it alone and just delete if newer and treat it like your not a pissed off teenager and it will last like anything else.
I have a 1978 F 350 dually with a 11 foot flatbed. Cost nothing traded a bull and 2 hiefer calves plus got $2000. I will never sell this truck new engine cost $1600 I just put the top end together. New truck $ 60000 no thanks. Thats alot of tool money I can use. Have my own plus company truck I have to outfit. Old guys in old trucks fixing broke shit keeping it all rolling.
Hey fellow Jacob. I'm going to be starting school soon and started watching your videos recently. I'm nervous and excited, I sometimes catch myself saying and thinking I want this I want that "welding goals" like a truck, a decent stable job, alot of knowledge and success. But then I'll thinking it's not a guarantee I'll get these things. Any suggestions for a beginner
Worry more about the welding aspect then get into the fun “custom” side. Like bad ass trucks and what not. No point in having a $50,000+ rig when you can’t pass a test !
I'm about to graduate from college with a welding degree, even though a degree isn't really required for the field😂 but how do you become a pipeliner? How do you get into the job?
Depends where you live. I'm in the UA local 441 plumber and pipefitters out of Wichita ks. And we are always looking for good welders. Just look up UA locals in your area.
Jacob i just got out of welding school. I have my welding combination certificate. What advice can you give me on preparing myself for becoming a rig welder some day? Should i get a welder helper job first then move up from there? Love to hear from you thanks Johnny Garcia..
Johnny depending on how good a school you came from I would go weld single hand on shutdowns and things like that, get your truck together then go out a rig welder but if dont feel like you can pass a pipe test go out as a helper and start piecing a truck ogether and practicing hope that helps.
Been welding out of an 03 6.0 for five years now. From Pascagoula to El Segundo. Never once let me down. Love it so much I bought a matching GMC.
First time seeing your video I know absolutely nothing about welding, and don't ever plan to. I am a trucker. It was so nice seeing a video without hearing any profanity. Thanks for that. Brother i dont even weld and still watch every single one of your vids.
Me too, but i still like watching.
You might be a pipeline welder when your welder cost more than your truck! Great setup 👍
Ace #1 lol Hahahahah true that lol
shiny new trucks are a nice optional luxury but aren't nesescary..
You prolly dont care at all but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any help you can give me!
@Axl Bjorn Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.

@Axl Bjorn it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account!

Jacob Schofield what is the email where we could reach you and ask questions?
I start the 20th
Steve 😈 at which location? Houston, Oklahoma or Florida?
Cordell Willett Houston
Man I wish I had a welder like you when I first started out helping. Love watching your vids!!
McRoy O'Brien me too lol!!! I helped probably 8 welders before I broke out welding
Jake thanks for your help. I have a 08 gas 2500 Chevy. I just dropped $3100 for a 63 sa200. It came with a lot of incintitives. Keep it going boss.
Because of CA new emmisions regulation just recently passed, have to sell out of state my 02 F550 7.3 dual transmission GV auto with the lowest odometer in the US and Canada....

I'm running a 78 gmc c35 with a old Hobart g258 from the 60s loving it
Alex maurer and she’s still making money!!!
Jacob Schofield ya it does to bad I've had a slow summer it's my second yr running my rig going to get my 2" on the 9th love money Mondays they are encouraging. A.m.mobile welding Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada
I want to get my dad to sell me his 61 chevy Apache 40 so I and turn into a welding truck

Definitely keep it and pass it on, it will be appreciated that way for the rest of its life and the stories abou the truck will never stop.
You know what I’ve not really thought about it that way. Thank you
Only just getting in to hobby welder i am a sprayer,, but love your truck and set up,,,
Great rig bro, Im a retired welder Fabricator of 38 years built ski lifts for 20 years towers catwalks Drive stations and then Fabricated Bank vaults & safes , I got tell you bro I do miss it Anyway Burn em Hot brother
Arcturus Online Enterprise man I bet there is a ton a guy could learn from you brother hopefully one day we get to meet

Grant Marshall thanks grant I really appreciate that.
Thanks man I needed that I'm running a 1981 chevy c30
Robert Merling perfect hopefully it’s running good
Good story you show a great attachment to that truck.
Am currently taking advance arch right now, can’t wait to get out there and get my own rig and get dirty :)
Only if there was more welders like you 👌🏽
Cool that makes sense . i have a 2007 ford i bought new and im still. Running it and same 200 welder it all profit now
James Pyritz makes plenty of money now lol!!
I know how ya feel. When I love sumthin I really love it. I use to bring my Christmas presents to bed with me and sleep with them.
Still can
So cute
O the joy of old trucks. I wouldn't trade my '95 powersmoke for a '15. I've only got 319,784 miles.
that beat at the beginning. 🤤🤤
Just got me a 2006 gmc 3500 gas can’t wait to rig it up
Its my dream to be a rig welder. Haven't had a shot....yet!
Kaptain Kash keep calling and meeting people so you can get put here.
I am considering going classic chevy rig for my next build
One of the best work trucks out there is anything with a 5.3 or 6.0. May have to stop at every gas station along the way but can't beat the reliability. Anything newer with emissions is garbage. Still rollin my 98 dodge 12v as my Rig ...... run the same welder too 👍👍
Man those are great trucks!!
My first rig was a tubbed 01 Dodge 24 valve with a 6 speed manual. My 10 year old son laid claim to it years ago. Lol. 321,000 miles on it and still running strong.
John Venable great great great truck!!!
Jacob Schofield yes they are. They don't beat the 1st gen with the 12 valve though. Lol. I've travelled thousands upon thousands of miles in those hitting rodeos back in my youth.
I just bought a F250 gas. Stay safe brother
WVClassicLincoln13 and that bigger will work out great no doubt
That bass though!!! Had my radio turned way up was not expecting that !! But sweet video
I have a 03 2500 gmc with the 6.0, i love it its my favorite truck ive ever owned.
Tough tough trucks
Great story boss.
Good video man I have a 2001 gas f350 301k on the miles I love it and will drive it tell the motor can’t no more
Carlos Cepeda got to love a good truck that keeps running
Great video good see welders still like you
Looking top notch Jake! You and your brothers are starting the Schofield welding empire 😁
Wade Wittman hahaha that’s awesome thanks wade.
Gas Chevy v8 is probably the safest bet and lowest operating/repair costs in trucks today.. and I was always a Ford guy🙄.. tired of the DEF and regenerative issues..
John W ive always been a chevy guy and i have a 6.0 gas truck like this one and i have a 08 f250 with the 6.4 and im telling you my ford gives me a ton of problems and is so expensive to fix but my chevy has never let me down and ive had 2 of them and put both through hell and they just wont quit on me
Stuuubbs 77 that’s cause you bought the worst power stroke out of the 4 😂
correct
Yea I would say the 5.0 letar 350 is probly the most common
@@OcpJake 6.0 ?
With fuel prices high as they are it's the smart choice to work out of it, plus why take a 70 plus grand truck out in the mud and muck when that one definitely does the job. Very smart decision on your part. God bless you and family.
Idk where you are at but fuel is pretty low here in texas and even in west Texas oil field lol not a penny over 215 in north texas and 260 in west only NC of price gouging
These are the best gen trucks :)
And it’s paid off!
Good reasons to have that truck and gas is the way to go unless you need maximum towing. the 6.0 is a dog as far as gas truck motors go but it is stone ax reliable and easy to work on. Well spoken first class dude , sentimental value is lost in today’s world n you sir know what appreciation means.
thank you... Got to love a truck thats taken care of you lol.
Could you post up some pictures of when u tubed out of it
Song is spots by cushy if anyone was wondering, I know I was.
All I have is an old 06 Tundra, right now. Buddy said he'd trade me for his 2017 long bed Tundra plus cash but not sure that step is worth it. Gas vs Diesel welding rig. Assuming 35k miles/year

And assuming the diesel engine gives zero issue at all....it will take 12yrs/400k miles before the diesel engine ever saves you a penny. But...diesel sure are fun to drive.
Whoa Michael you have seriously thought this through. That was amazing to read thank you sir.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Jake,
I for one would like to hear the stories of the deals to get the welders. Love your videos.
Like how I got my machines?
I want to come work for you.
I use a 04 gmc 3500 with a 8.1l and the Allison it's my favorite truck I have owned. I wont buy a new truck only If gm brings the 8.1 back
Well said sir 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
They are easy to work on, have the best aftermarket of any make, and parts are plentiful and cheap. I threw my Silverado together from three wrecks. (Cab swaps are easy.)

So true the fuel isn't great but I will take reliability over fuel milage.
That's the bad part about that deal. The fuel mileage just sucks. I drive a Ford 7.3 diesel for the fuel economy (and really like the power plant).
You ever run uphill 6010 root 7018 fill and cap?? I'm a steamfitter and that's what we do.
chevy gasser with a 4l80 trans will never let you down and everything is cheap and easy to fix when it does break in a minor way
very true I love this little truck so hopefully she just keeps on going down the road.
Man just started today on my first helper job thanks to your RUclips channel helping motivate me to get on it !!
Thanks !
caught myself dancin and shit ..... watching this drone intro ,nice.
Skipped to 4:50 he still isn't talking about why... but bro... that flat bed is sick
The best saying is “don’t fix what’s not broke”.
2wd or 4wd
Currently trying to plan a rig build and haven’t been able to decide between using me extended cab f250 7.3 or getting a new 6.7 and using that. Either way I’d be buying a new truck, just don’t know which ones going to be the play truck and which one will be strictly work
I have a 93 Silverado 3500 HD, got rid of the crappy 6.5 and dropped the 5.9 12 valve and have never looked back.
there tuff trucks no doubt

I just sold my old 82 c1500 the a turbo 6.2 diesel....going to miss the old girl but I've got a 5.9 cummins now.
Good advice I’m fixing to get my first rig hoping to break out as a pipeliner soon #plantlifeaintenough
Get after it!! that's an exciting time finally getting the first one.
Nice rig. Like a Rock!
You still have it
Can’t beat an LS ! Don’t care how much your oil burner puts out ... replacement of an LS is cheep and parts are abundant go try and find a specialty part for an oil burner ......$

Love them trucks. I’ve got an 04 gmc with the 6.6dmax.
7:00 what mic are you using you're far from the camera and still sound nice and crispy!
What year was it sir .
you can buy gas or buy parts, diesels are a pain with computers and DEF and regenerating if pickups need to do that or not i dont know.
Mucno muy cninjon este cnavalo 👌cninjon cninjon 👍
Love the "old scoot scoot" truck lol hey what Miller Machine is that? Thanks man!
Make a video on wall thickness such as schedule 10,40,80 etc. and 250 wall etc. just for newer people who dont know how thick it really is👍🏻
Nice rig brother 💯
Thanks Isreal.

What song did you use for the intro?? Great video as always. I plan on getting a gm truck with a big block gas motor for my first welding rig as well. Love watching your videos man. Keep it up.
Bad experience with Ford turned me against them, but I suppose any company can produce a lemon.
ColKorn1965 that’s so true man this dodge has kinda been a lemon
u must of had a 6.0
5.4 triton 3 valve.
Leave a diesel stock and eco tune it and or leave it alone and just delete if newer and treat it like your not a pissed off teenager and it will last like anything else.
Some more than others
Great story!
like your videos - the music is distracting and sometimes makes it hard to hear you talking

Skydj Whisen thanks brother really means a lot
Skydj Whisen thank man.
Can’t beat a truck you love
Jacob Jones true that man.
Nice rig 🤙🏻
Jacob i just got out of welding school. I have my welding combination certificate. What advice can you give me on preparing myself for becoming a rig welder some day? Should i get a welder helper job first then move up from there? Love to hear from you thanks Johnny Garcia..
Johnny depending on how good a school you came from I would go weld single hand on shutdowns and things like that, get your truck together then go out a rig welder but if dont feel like you can pass a pipe test go out as a helper and start piecing a truck ogether and practicing hope that helps.
Do a tour of the Scoot Scoot
PipePro looks good -nice job on the bed
JHLRanch thanks man it’s still got some work
Do you plan on pulling the camper ever with the scoot?

Phenolic coated pipe
