    Just to clarify: There ARE good pet parents in the United States. Plenty of people DO microchip their pets, have their pets fixed, and trained. At the same time, there are A LOT of people who have pets who do not treat them well, and don’t care for them in the way they should!

    It’s not only about dog education Neeva, some dogs have such a powerful bite, they will kill a small child or frail adult with the strength of their jaws, literally, you stand no chance with some dogs. Always a pleasure to hear your take though ☺️ Oh, I greet and meet anything and anyone regardless; if they don’t like it, well, too bad 😉

    Hey! Thanks for the cool video! :-)
    About the banned breeds: As far as I know (i'm a german, but not a pet owner) there are also some breeds that have been banned not because they're dangerous, but because they're "misbreeded". (is that a word?) For example their noses or lungs are crippled and they can't breath very healthy. So it's also a matter of animal welfare.

    Another thing is, a person who walks a really sweet dog would likely need hours to get somewhere when they'd constantly need to stop and give some random people the time to let them pet their dog. That would possibly annoy me too, if I had a dog.

    My wife is a vet at a animal shelter in southern Germany. They sterilize stray cats every Monday. Normally they have about 20 to 30 cats per week from traps they set up. They come from the wider area here and are set free afterwards.

    • @neevabee_

      Amazing! I could not find information about this - I wondered if it might be illegal!! Thanks for the information :)

    • @JakobFischer60
      @JakobFischer60 3 года назад +1

      @@neevabee_ No, it is not illegal . The animal shelters are partially paid by the communities, which are responsible for animal care, and some communities even pay for sterilization projects. In our case the cats are caught by some elderly women and the vets and nurses are paid by donations.

    Well the problem by aproaching a dog is you never know how he will react. My way is to let the dog aproach me if he is interestet.Than I let him sniff my hand and him decide if he wants more. Besides that you need an insurance if your dog is larger the 40 cm (16"). Because it gets very expensive if your dog bites someone. The holder is responsible for his pet unless he can proof that the other needled him.

    • @neevabee_

      I always ask the pet parent before I ever approach the animal! If they say their dog is friendly then I would go to let it sniff me :)

    I had a couple of dogs and several cats over the space of some 20 years (up into the 90s, I believe) and it seems things have really changed since then. I never had a pet microchipped (maybe the technology was too new back then) and registering your dog was more encouraged than enforced (at least at first, as I recall). Then again, I think these things are legislated at the State or local level, so maybe it's just that I live in a different part of Germany. Oh, by the way, I'm constantly being greeted on the street by people I know, and even some I merely see often will nod and say hello. That might well be a regional thing, too, though, because that certainly wasn't the case where I used to live.

    I had two hunting dogs (Magyar Viszla) and in Germany we have lot of "Hundeschulen" ig dog schools. Every responsible dog owner will absolve courses there. Because Paco an Skipper were so cute there have been always people want to touch them especially kids. I have two kids and therefore they were used to be touched even by little kids. I never had a problem with them becuase they were very well educated ....

  • @furzkram
    @furzkram 3 года назад

    When someone's dog decides to bite the person who wanted to pet it, then the dog owners quickly get sued to pay the person's medical treatment plus compensation - so it's only natural dog owners shy away there. Also, many dog owners train their dog to be protective and defend their people from anyone else - so it's not too unlikely the dog would possibly go into defense mode.

    The issue with pitbull is some years ago there was a trend... Young guys with less social and dog skills gets hand on pitbull or staffordshire terriers. This leads to problems with accidents with dogs. Therefore these rules come in. Sure responsible dog owners now have difficulties when they want to own a pitbull. This is the same if i want to own a gun. Because of some Gangsta and crazy people it is harder for me to achieve this. Not that i want to have one... only for example.

    Mostly we Germans love animals and cat's and dog's are very popular in Germany, sometimes you could believe that there are more cat's and dog's in Germany than human beings.
    Unfortunately Pit Bulls got there bad reputation because of people that were not able to treat them the right way.
    The humans can't handle them, actually they are the real issue,
    but at the end the dog is the bad guy.
    It's of course not fair 🙂👍 and
    unfortunately other people will use that fear for their advantage, politicians for example to win an election.

    Good observations! And good to know that and why we don't have so many stray animals here.
    I always learn new vocabulary while watching RUclips videos in English. But this time I need your help:
    you used two words that I can't spell and therefore can't look up anywhere.
    The first word is about what happens to pets in order not to get pregnant. I had expected something like sterilized or castrated. But you used a completely different word I had never heard before. What is it?
    The other word is a dog breed which is forbidden in Germany, but you like it. For me it sounded like 'pipples', but there is no such word. It must be something else.
    I like your English, you usually speak clearly and distinctively, but still I've no idea what these two words are. Please tell me!

    • @neevabee_
      @neevabee_  3 года назад

      😂 oh goodness! I’m sorry about that! The first words are “spayed” and “neutered” - exactly the meaning of sterilized or castrated just a little bit different! And the dog breed is called “pitbull” :) I hope this helps!!

    • @beatrixpastoors1104
      @beatrixpastoors1104 3 года назад

      @@neevabee_ thx. 😁
      So now I've learned that castrated and sterilized in combination with cats and dogs are not used, but spayed and neutered instead. Or is this only in the US?
      Can it be, that you pronounced pitbulls with leaving out the b? Or the t? Americans often leave out letters. I know a Canadian from Toronto, and when she talks of Toronto I never hear the second t.
      And I only recently learned that in the word Catholics the o is not pronounced. Funny language. 😂

      @@neevabee_ something else came to my mind: I often have to use the Google translate app. Can it be that the English there is only British English?
      I learned via RUclips that Americans talk about co-workers instead of colleagues. But when I look up Kollege in the app, I always get colleague and never co-worker. And if I type in Mitarbeiter I get employee.
      And if I click on the sound of the word currently it always sounds like karentli what I am used to. But all Americans seem to pronounce it like körentli. And neither and either I learned to pronounce with a sound like in German Eis. But Americans always pronounce them as if they were spelt neether and eether. 😅

    • @neevabee_
      @neevabee_  3 года назад

      Pitbull sounds just like it is spelled! :) and yes there are some strange things between British English and American. But usually you can change them up easily. I sometimes say coworker and sometimes I say colleague! It just depends. I find that google translate is usually pretty accurate :)
