Great video!Nice insight to the place! Thought everything was levelled though! Weird buildings too that are left!! An ahful waste of space... so sad its not developed 😢😢 I remember when I closed down too! Such a load of jobs GONE!
@@dronehawk Its bonkers. Sea is very good obviously, rail is ok but doesn't really go anywhere as we don't really do rail freight, development that involves road haulage is stymied on Cobh because of Belvelly bridge. They just will never approve it thesedays. Upgrading Fota Road and the Belvelly bridge was on the cards, but you're driving a dual carriageway through a nature reserve and regardless of whether it could be argued for or against, it would be dragged through the courts for years.

Plan is for Gouldings to relocate to Marino Point and all grain and fertiliser will be handled here instead of the city quays. The plan is on hold due to objections submitted by residents in passage with concerns over noise and dust pollution affecting them , seeing as they are only 500m away and noise from Marino point is reflected back from the hills on its east side towards passage. Probably a long drawn out spectacle through the courts over the next few years .

@@dronehawk like most things in this country, doesn't take much to object for people , some reasons that are given are a joke , some genuine. its a waste of good location, if not used for what's proposed hen be prime for something a bit quieter, but then there s traffic issue, that's not going to be another objection.

Prime land with sea , rail and road access . So many development possibilities but left idle for decades , mind boggling
