To be fair interplanetary warfare is not simple for the humans here. They still have to make do with not that many supplies. They get reinforcements and supplies after so long, I am not sure if they can effectively use the fact, that they have orbital control. They seem to be not that technologically advanced. Then again the planet of the Na'vi is a fool, you can rally the entire planet at your will and control them and you ignore your greatest asset (bugs, so many bugs)? At least in the second movie the humans final make more use of fire, but how that will help if the planet retreats to their large bodies of water is another problem and the humans are even more out of their element. I would like to see the humans win in Avatar, but the balance of power does not seem to favour them. Maybe if WMD-s can be used, then, well that would be a whole different situation.
Humans are not the "good guys" in the movie. They take what they want even if it means killing others. They don't live in harmony with their surroundings thus needing ever more resources to support their way of living.

In the first movie, Navi defeated a bunch of mercenaries who were essentially guarding a private company for resource extraction and exploration of a new planet. In the second film, Navi barely defeated a fishing boat and a handful of mercenaries. I'm waiting for people to turn on the total genocide navi mode using not mercenaries but an army and start cleaning up the planet in the style of Warhammer 40,000
@@lorenzocassaro6188 They really didn't though. The Navi got absolutely smoked during the Battle of the Tree of Souls. They only won because of a Deus Ex Machina, literally the God of the Navi came down on the RDA, which at the time were a simple security force protecting a mining colony. The only reason why the Navi won in the Battle of the Reef was because of Payakan's involvement. If he wasn't there they all would've died and Quaritch would've achieved victory.
This was definitely a warning instead of a threat. Parker never had any personal prejudice against the Na'vi, only thing he cared about was turning a profit from the operation no matter what. With it in ruin he had no reason to be antagonistic anymore, you could even see a bit of regret in his face when watching the destruction of Hometree.

An ISV can take on 200 passengers in cryo, HellsGate had more then that even with the few human allied to the Navi allowed to stay behind. What a logistical nightmare that must have been for the RDA Interstellar Division to all of a suddenly evacuate, surely they must have a plan to get the hell out of dodge if there was ever a need to do so, but again only 200 people can be put into Cyro, and with all the other ISVs making round trips to Pandora every 5 years that means one is arriving annually. Stuff like this is far more interesting to me to think about other then the forest, the creatures etc.
Finally someone talking our language. In somewhere, some script said "nearly 12-14 ISV" making runs between Pandora and Earth. The one run between Alpha Centauri and World needs to be 5-6 year. With standard speed of an ISV (in last I see it was 210.000Km/Second) this means a vessel only comes in 6 month or 1 year. Forget about how to carry up about 200 passenger, maybe TAV-37Bs only transport 100 man a single flight. But in new movie, some ISVs have small differences from other. Some of them able to transport more passenger. You must watch "How to Avatar ISV works" videos on YT.
Like the top commenter said- I don't think he was threatening Jake that he'd return- but warning him that humans will be back after this to try to invade, which is exactly what does transpire.
This scene was hastily placed. Literally seconds after Selfridge's warning: Jake Sully - "The time of great sorrow was ending. Toruk Makto was no longer needed"
Given that the RDA created the soul drives, I think they knew that Hells Gate would eventually fall to the Na'vi. The Recom program and the planning required for the building of Bridgehead would have taken a good amount of time
I would have returned to the planet with military cruisers and nuked them into oblivion from orbit. Then just waited for everything to die. That metal was so precious and valuable that this would have been the real life answer to the question posed by the film itself.
He was right about that. The sky people may be defeated and forced to return back to their home planet. But they came back with more help and more firepower.
@@The2ndQuest We that watched it in theater saw it over a decade ago. also it's the first line of the video description that the scene was only showed in the 2009 theater version and no versions since.
@@Shaderox You're misreading the video description (which, to be fair, isn't phrased as clearly as it could have been). The description is specifying the original release year for Avatar is 2009, as Avatar is still considered a 2009 movie despite changes made in subsequent releases. NOT that this new, extended version of this scene was in the 2009 theatrical version. That's why it specifies that it is a new, extended scene in the "Remastered version of Avatar", which was only previously seen in theaters during the Sept 2022 theatrical rerelease. And now Avatar Remastered is the version of the film available on Disney+.
@@The2ndQuest yes i see now that the conversation is about extensions, it's not a "New scene added to Avatar remastered" as the title suggest, (since comparing with older youvube videos later) but that the scene is extended from 30sec to 40sec. That doesn't qualify as a "new scene" to me. So I'll continue saying that the scene has been in the movie and re-releases since 2009.
@@Shaderox While "new shot" might feel more accurate, the extension does involve 2 or 3 new edits/shots and an exchange of dialogue over several seconds, which would fit the definition of a "scene" for film. If anything, though, it's mostly seems to just be shorthand here to avoid a more awkward-but-accurate "new scene extension" or "newly extended scene" description so people know what they're looking for. But, it's just semantics and not worth quibbling over. It's still neat that they added something new into the Remastered version that wasn't included in any of the 4 previous versions of the film or in the (already thoroughly extensive) disc extra features (and integrated it so flawlessly on top of that- I truly wonder if it was filmed for the original film or later on with the sequels).
It's still frustrating to me because this was a deleted scene, and it could have very well been a part of a Directors cut when they released this on 4K UHD. They just decided to add one little extra moment but not all the other great scenes.
This scene made me want to see AVATAR 3, because how Selfridge role is not arrives Pandora yet, so need to be cameo in TWOW, but hope he will be new person, yeah he has a brief with Jake, but still warning him, not threat him, I believe that in 3 4 5, there's worst bad guys than him, like Ardmore, Scoresby Varang and big rank RDA, He and Quaritch will have redemption arc for sure.
Parker most likely. He was against the war from the beginning and only wanted the Navi to leave peacefully so they can mine Unobtanium. Parker lost trust with Quatrich when he attacked Hometree and destroyed potentially millions of dollars of the mineral's reserves. When he tried to confront Quatrich and assert control, the latter takes over by force and almost strangles him. Quatrich will still be a villain in the 3rd and 4 movies.

thats what people dont realize...the humans DO NOT want to slaughter the Navi.....they have rules of engagement....look at how people demonize Europeans for what they did to the Native Americans....now imagine another century of alien invasion movies....no human wants to be the Europeans again AND the alien invaders they feared in movies AND make first contact turn into GENOCIDE...theres public opinion to consider back on Earth.... the humans simply want resources....they DO NOT want to kill the Navi....and will only kill them with limited force when they attack first or interfere with resource extraction
I truly feel like that if we added even half of all the cut scenes to the full movie, we would’ve ended up with a much more compelling story. Same kind of goes for the second movie in reverse there were several scenes in the second movie that could’ve been cut and would’ve made the movie better so just replace all of the cut scenes with the scenes that need to be cut and you’ve got a pretty good movie.
I wish they included this in the extended cut as well. In fact, all the selfridge scenes shouldn't be cut. And I don't mind a 4 hour cut of Avatar too.
1st option: Humans die and Na'vi live. 2nd option: Humans live and Na'vi die. Most would choose one of the two options. But WHAT IF .... what if there was a 3rd option? You would think impossible. But Kain from The Legacy Of Kain games would disagree. Kain: "There’s a third option - a monumental secret, hidden in your very presence here. But it’s a secret you have to discover for yourself. Unearth your destiny, Jake. It’s all laid out for you here." Jake Sully: "You said it yourself, Kain - there are only two sides to your coin." Kain: "Apparently so. And whose to say colonists won't meet like minded Na'vi?
you expect this show to make sense and blue space monkeys to not have plot armor?
It’s not often you see a movie or story where the good guys lose in the end. It’s a good reminder of how cruel the world can be.
Humans are not the "good guys" in the movie. They take what they want even if it means killing others. They don't live in harmony with their surroundings thus needing ever more resources to support their way of living.
Are you dumb stupid or dumb?
The good guys? What is going on
hopefully the good guys will win in the 3rd one and finally crush the evil xeno.
Unless Na'vi women can carry human babies to term they are a useless species.
Got chills when I saw this in the cinema, had no idea they had made this. What a perfect little tease for the sequel
I saw the movie multiple times before the edit and I still like it. But,this made me laugh.
It was expected that they would someday return to Pandora. 0:16
This scene should've been added to the movie when Parker says, "This isn't over" before he was banished😅❤
I wish they added this to hint at a sequel..
Agreed
Agreed, the way it originally ended can perfectly make it seem as a standalone but this does allude to a sequel.
James said that there were no plans for a sequel for about 5 years after this film came out
@@HTMN161 what the hell are you talking about?? James Cameron announced a sequel to the first Avatar only *days* after it came out

Parker: Let me give you one warning. I know my superiors very well. They will this loss to heart and will come back for revenge. Be prepared.
Neytiri: Oh, we will! Now leave!
It's not even about revenge. Imagine that your weakly armed guards (transport helicopters, small arms and cargo walkers) were attacked by natives. The finale for Navi came exactly when the first employee left the shuttle on Earth and told about what happened. As we see in the second film, the RDA responded to the threat and made do with not just a simple base, but an entire impregnable city. @@ladyfire44
@@ladyfire44 Oh please, more like:
Parker: Let me give you one warning. I know my superiors very well. They will this loss to heart and will come back for revenge. Be prepared.
Neytiri and Jake: All good. We're just gonna mess about for the next 13 years then be surprised when the next fleet comes back as if we weren't expecting it like we should've lol.
"You know there will be a sequel."
The fact that Neytiri was about to slit the RDA antagonist with the knife shows that she has no mercy and defeats her enemies with vengeance.
He approaches Jake to remind Jake that it's not demise but Neytiri is always gone and hates people, Parker Selfridge says it's not the end, it's not demise while he's probably holding on to the Soul drive Quaritch, their technology gives more and can create recommendations they return. RDA back... Yes.
If Parker does return in part 3 I wonder how he'll react to see Recom Quartich
I like how he calms her down telling her relax in a fair tone of voice
In the first movie, Navi defeated a bunch of mercenaries who were essentially guarding a private company for resource extraction and exploration of a new planet.
In the second film, Navi barely defeated a fishing boat and a handful of mercenaries.
I'm waiting for people to turn on the total genocide navi mode using not mercenaries but an army and start cleaning up the planet in the style of Warhammer 40,000
Purge the xenos and traitors siding with them
Barely defeated? They steamrolled the RDA at every engagement! 🤣 (also, Moby Dick MVP)
Honestly, the first movie felt like it had higher stakes
@@lorenzocassaro6188 They really didn't though. The Navi got absolutely smoked during the Battle of the Tree of Souls. They only won because of a Deus Ex Machina, literally the God of the Navi came down on the RDA, which at the time were a simple security force protecting a mining colony. The only reason why the Navi won in the Battle of the Reef was because of Payakan's involvement. If he wasn't there they all would've died and Quaritch would've achieved victory.
"Nothing is over...nothing!!!"
Maybe we will see him again in the last movie on earth. Could be a fundamental character to seal the peace between rda and the na'vi.
I know how big they are to human but like sheeeeeeesh it get me every time

Great post, much apreceated. wish i saw this scene in the cinima
i mean they beat what amounts to a company security force.
Yep a small private security and they actually beat the navi but got caught off guard by every animal on the planet attacking them
I love the Mohawk and the necklace on Jake Sully 💙💙💙💙💙
I love the fact that the three of them (Neytiri, Norm and Max) immitadely pulled out their weapons when Selfridge approached Jake, they were ready for any possibility, even ready to fight again for Jake if necessary. They're his true companions for life and death.
??? against one unarmed guy 1/8th of his size? okay
Well in this case some would say it is a cowardly move
Yeah when I saw this movie in October of 2022 when they rereleased it I saw this scene and was like wtf I don’t remember this.
I love it. However the words that jake says afterwards don't make much sense 😅
Parker was like, "I'll be back."
Like I knew it wasn’t just me when I first saw this scene in the remastered theater release, but I couldn’t remember if this scene was official or not lol
FINALLY!!! I've been looking for this scene for forever. I remember seeing it in the rerelease and wondering if this was something they shot back then or something that was shot recently. Seeing it now it's clear that it was cut. Seeing it now, I predict the next time they release this movie again, THAT scene will be a permanent part of it simply due to what came next.
Summarizing the story Badly: The unobtainium was unobtainable
You all say Peter Selfridge is being nice and warning Jake here, but he’s also got the drive that has Quaritch and other marine’s DNA and definitely has a hand in that programme to hunt down the Sullys in the sequels 😂

I went crazy when I Saw this in theater
Its crazy to think the earth on Avatar's world is like a cyberpunk planet. There is a deleted scene that shows that
Like the top commenter said- I don't think he was threatening Jake that he'd return- but warning him that humans will be back after this to try to invade, which is exactly what does transpire.
I liked his character. He is truly a good man. No fear in the face of the traitor, Jake.
This scene was hastily placed. Literally seconds after Selfridge's warning:
Jake Sully - "The time of great sorrow was ending. Toruk Makto was no longer needed"
"You know this isn't over."
Jake: "Yeah, yeah whatever. I've got like 7 kids to make with my wife so move it along already"

If you come back we will be ready for you!
He said it as a warning not a threat
This movie needs a part 2
I love how they made the weapons reminiscent of the Vietnam War
I just watched this¡ i must say that wasn´t expeting this¡ I´am really amazed
He was right about that. The sky people may be defeated and forced to return back to their home planet. But they came back with more help and more firepower.
And that's why you shouldn't let your enemies live, they will come back in bigger numbers with heavy weaponry to destroy and kill those close to you.

I only saw the theater version so i didn't know this scene was cut from the other version(s).... seems like an odd thing to cut.
It was never in any other versions, or included in bonus content, until the Remastered 2022 rerelease.
Nukes from orbit
It's still frustrating to me because this was a deleted scene, and it could have very well been a part of a Directors cut when they released this on 4K UHD. They just decided to add one little extra moment but not all the other great scenes.
"Yo Get The F*** Out of Here!" - Max Patel to Parker Selfridge 0:09

@ladyfire44 but he seems working with Quaritch in Avatar 3, cause Quaritch persuade him and he has no choice.
But he was right it's not over this is just the beginning
Hey remember when the humans razed the forest in the first few minutes of the second movie? Really seemed like a good way to smoke out the insurgents but nah we’ll just send a fishing boat to kill space Geronimo
thats what people dont realize...the humans DO NOT want to slaughter the Navi.....they have rules of engagement....look at how people demonize Europeans for what they did to the Native Americans....now imagine another century of alien invasion movies....no human wants to be the Europeans again AND the alien invaders they feared in movies AND make first contact turn into GENOCIDE...theres public opinion to consider back on Earth....
the humans simply want resources....they DO NOT want to kill the Navi....and will only kill them with limited force when they attack first or interfere with resource extraction
Well, now that they want to colonize it, it would be pretty idiotic to use scorched earth tactics, at this point...
The finger discipline is strong.
Took them long enough... I saw this in the cinema when it was re released before Avatar 2
At least it would have been a try to match both movies and giving the second one a kind of sense.
Love the first one tho
If only Jake said "And we'll be ready."
ney ney was going to cut him nice scene i would.t blame her
I truly feel like that if we added even half of all the cut scenes to the full movie, we would’ve ended up with a much more compelling story. Same kind of goes for the second movie in reverse there were several scenes in the second movie that could’ve been cut and would’ve made the movie better so just replace all of the cut scenes with the scenes that need to be cut and you’ve got a pretty good movie.
And he was right wasn’t he right guys but so glad Parker has some light and honour in him doesn’t he right guys!
its better bc it doesn’t just make it like oh parker didn’t walk up to him to warn him. but neytiri just protecting jake is crazyyy

I dont remember this when I saw it in theaters.
Hey James Cameron, give me the extra 40 minutes of footage
They probably cut it from the theatrical release so we wouldn’t know if a sequel is confirmed yet.
I wish they included this in the extended cut as well. In fact, all the selfridge scenes shouldn't be cut. And I don't mind a 4 hour cut of Avatar too.
