- The Vice-President of Sinn Féin, Michelle O’Neill, is set to attend King Charles’ coronation.
It’s a landmark step in Anglo-Irish relations - although the pair have already met in Belfast, following the Queen’s death in September 2022.

I'll never forget how pleased they were when the Queen spoke a few words in Irish at Dublin castle.
As a lifelong SF'er, I can't deny how impressed I was with Queen Elizabeth's words and her respect to Ireland's patriot dead. What happened afterwards could not be possible without that bold move. Respect was given, and respect was shown back.

Michelle O’Neill invitation and acceptance to the King Charles coronation is a positive sign for peace in Ireland. This might be very hard to accept, but the past, like it or not, is now history. Every one in Ireland must work to make Ireland become a united peaceful county regardless of political or religious beliefs. Seeing King Charles and Michelle O’Neill speaking together is a start.

These were young men sent into a situation they had never encountered in Briton, many were afraid many did not want to go, all did not know who was friend or foe
So how many British soldiers done prison time during the conflict compared to republican or loyalist and the British government created a situation in Ireland were the conflict was between orange and green far from it through out history their attitude was divide and conquer I suggest to read more into history you might understand the conflict between the two countries better

Having said that when the troubles started my late father who was English Methodist, spoke to me and said the Catholics in NI were not treated equally and he was very sympathetic towards their struggles. but you lost that sympathy when our British soldiers were murdered, they did not know who was friend or foe, our young soldiers were very nervous and yes they made mistakes, but they would not have been there if NI had been able to get on.’

I still remember when Australia started trading with Japan, and some of my friends’ grandparents could not stomach it. I completely understand and respect their viewpoint as they had lost family members in the war. However, if most of us didn’t move toward peaceful relations we would all be in a miserable state of war forever.
