I’m a Derm PA always come here for new ideas. Thank you. I also add in for some patients to have a really good workout, stress reduction, and sweating a bunch of the stuff out can just be one other non-product component to treating acne.
Thanks for the video! I've found the under eye video from a few days ago really helpful too! This is off topic but I absolutely love your hair colour, do you mind me asking what you tell them at the salon to get that colour? Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video, Dr Liu! You're the first dermatologist I've watched on RUclips that has talked about the effectiveness of using spot treatments under pimple patches. I started doing this during the pandemic because I was getting huge and painful nodules for the first time in my life and it always helped clear them within a week or two. What amazed me most about this technique was that the majority of the time, it would flatten these pimples without bringing them to a head. The rest of the time, it would bring the pimple to a head faster than if I used a spot treatment alone (I actually twice compared two nodules that had appeared at the same time). Most dermatologists I've seen don't recommend this technique because it can be highly irritating, which is why I haven't spoken to anyone about it before. But anecdotally, it has always worked for me and has never caused any irritation. My favourite spot treatment is Paula's Choice's BHA 9, by the way!
I don’t have sensitive skin, but my skin can’t tolerate Benzoyl peroxide at all! I tried the La Roche Posay one recommended in this video, and my face is currently paying for it. 😰 I think I’m allergic. I had to take Benedryl. It’s red, textured, swollen, dry, itchy, and just super angry at me. I’m glad I only used a small amount to spot treat or else, I probably would end up having to go to the hospital. This is the only thing I’ve ever had a bad reaction to. I can use salicylic acid and glycolic acids with no issues. So sad.
Love the content. What are some of the best sunscreens to use for acne prone skin? I would love a video. Lately I'm breaking out and cannot find the culprit. I use Elta would love other options. I ordered some from Stylevana but concerned about experimenting with the break outs. Ty
I have a bad habit of overdoing the pimple patches . If stuff is still coming out from the last patch, I add another one until it feels flat and not like a bump anymore. But then im left with a giant scab on my face. Soo piece of advice, dont do more then one pimple patch a day 😭
Are this products safe for pregnant woman. I'm really suffering from bad acne. I don't know what to do. It really make me sad every time I look at the mirror
Hello Dr 👋 whats your take on botox for decreasing sebum production, im currently using epiduo and azelaic acid and my forehead is just oily, I've heard about botox, and how it helps with sebum production. Is it ok to get botox if I use topical like epiduo and azelaic acid ?
Hello Dr. I am using the sturbborn Acne Am treatment of neutrogena. i have small bumps all over my face and its very itchy and not leaving despite that i continue the use. what can i do?
I didn’t tolerate that form of benzoyl P. That particular product. Leave skin until less irritated, I use ice/ warm and then blue light therapy and zinc oxide etc as gentle treatments until irritation subsided then try something else
10% Benzoyl Peroxide leave-on gel under sunscreen saved my face from persistent acne. At night I use 0.1% Tretinoin + 2% Salicylic Acid + 20% Azelaic Acid.
wow, your skin is tolerant! i tried a routine with 2% SA cleanser and differin at night and 10% benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin in the morning as my actives… my skin started clearing but at the cost of my skin. it all peeled off. lots of scarring. stung and burned so bad. i had to use only a cleanser, moisturizer, and spf for two weeks. i’m slowly reintroducing everything, but using differin 3/4 days in my routine. going down to 2.5% BPO and spreading out active use to minimize irritation. hopefully i can clear my skin without the dreadful scarring my other ones left
Thanks for info. I’m 61 and still have acne.🥲. I’ve been using Paula Choice salicylic gel instead of her other liquid one. I also use Tretinoin.05. I don’t know if you can use the Tretinoin and salicylic gel together at night routine. I’ve always have been dealing with acne since I was 14. I thought by this time in my life it would be over. But what serums would be good? My skin looks dry after I put foundation on. I was thinking maybe go with Clinique acne foundation I believe it has salicylic acid in their formula. Plus your skin is amazing
i trust anything you say, doctor (your skin is brighter than my future)

Would you recommend using azelaic acid on a (already popped) pimple as spot treatment twice a day?

Omg I often do this and always leaves a scar😢.
I am 42 and looking for a spot treatment and/or patch for the occasional cystic acne bumps I get on my chin. Any recommendations?
Thanks Dr.💜🧚🏼♀️💚

Limit Sal acid but BPO is fine. Avoid retinoids
