      8 out of 10 JBA/KBA players that come to America fail. He's a good player for Asia but will be an absolute bum in America. There's no way he will be able to adjust to the velocity of the MLB. Plus he lost his power, and lost his speed. He is projected to hit less then 10HR & less then 10SB. And if you're thinking he's gonna be a leader in SF, that is another fantasy. He read his jokes that Boras wrote for him right off of a piece of paper, he doesn't speak the language and is too quiet. You cannot lead by example if your numbers suck. As a Giants fan, my only hope is that he gets hurt soon, which judging by his past record won't be far off. BOOOOOO

HIS GAME WILL NOT TRANSLATE TO THE MLB

    Not very impressed. Homer off a 89 mph straight fastball right down the middle. I predict a 250 hitter with 5-10 homers for his first season. The Giants in my opinion have reached and overpaid for this signing. 😢

    • @baseballnow1
      @baseballnow1  9 месяцев назад +11

      Sounds a little harsh because his homer was off an 89 mph fastball is a little unfair. Not every home run hit by Judge or Bonds are 98 on the corner, most aren't. And a lot of MLB players would not have hit a home run off that pitch. Not because they can't but just because a pitch is less than ideal from the pitcher it doesn't mean every hitter will make him pay on that particular pitch. So to hit a home run is still to hit a home run. This one was also in game 6 of the championship series with his team in a must win situation and it gave his team a 3-2 lead. The home run was hit off the top lefty starter in Korea, a pitcher who played 2 seasons as a starter for the Cardinals. That team made the post season in both those years with him in the rotation. Now, I'm not saying that it was the type of hit that validates his contract, but he basically got the best possible result off a situation that was off a pitcher that would keep you off balance because of his major league caliber slider. Anyways not saying he's going to be SF's answer to everything or even that he will be worth his contract. In the end I don't think he'll be a bad player especially if SF can get him to bulk up a bit. Look for something similar to Yoshida or Mark Canha's career as a comp. I'd say Kwan or Benintendi as a floor.

      Underrated comment... this is what any pro scout without skin in the game has projected: .230/.240AVG, less than 10HR, less then 10SB with unknown how his lost speed will effect his defense - but most probably he will not improve. This player will disappear in a few years, he will never opt out at the 4yrs mark of his contract, he had the personality of a wood plank and will be unable to lead this team by example or attitude. His game will never translate to the MLB as anything more then a forgotten well below average player. I get sick thinking about having to hear SF manufacture news about him to try and create a face of the franchise... but assuming that this off season is the peak of his Giants career/trending stardom... this man will be an anchor around the neck of the franchise and a jagged rusty nail in the side of Giants fans long after Fahran is fired
