Simple and smart, I will how ever give you a tip. Welding school, or local welders can make you a double step with a hand hold for about $100 or less. If you go to scrap yard you can make it even cheaper and still strong as crap.
The hand hold is the option that would be nice. I still like having this one for the money, but I may do that in the future. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching.
Suggestion: Take one of the bolts holding unit to trailer and buy a piece of plastic tubing to slide over the bolts. This will prevent the bolts from rubbing the paint off the trailer and putting two rust areas under the bolts.
Great video thanks! I saw the other guys video as well and I’m with you; I don’t care about the look as much as I do the function. Parts are on order. I have a deep V and I will contribute a video soon! Have a great fishing season!
Dave I did the same thing about a year ago but did one other thing that made it SUPER . Take a chain link fence pole and two C bolts and clamp pole to trailer just where the pole almost touches the boat when on trailer. This gives you a handle to hold on to up and down plus helps when loading boat back on trailer.
Thanks Dave. Can’t bring myself to pay $400 for a trick stepmom my Lund pro v bass but my 60 year old but can’t climb the way I used to. Installed the step and can use my spare tire as the 2nd step. Great $30 solution.
I know those are a much better set up and I would have loved to have done that. Just couldn’t swing it at the time and this one works out great. It would be nice to have the handle though. Thanks for watching.
thanks for the video i need to do this t my trailer as well I have back issues and a weak left leg so getting in from the back of the trailer is difficult this looks like it will be much easier
It is definitely much easier. Just used it again yesterday. Just keep in mind that this option does not have a handle to hold onto while getting in the boat. Thanks for watching!
Very nice sir! Thank you for sharing. I noticed a millennium marine seat in the background, that has been best investment I've made for any boat I've owned!
Nice job on the video Dave! I did the same mod to my trailer also after watching the GunnfishTV video... Works great!! I would like to add a handle as well, I also added a non slip pad on my trailer tongue. 👍 😁
As a fellow boater who is also getting older and fatter and everything hurts... yeah it sucks, but it's better than alternative. Great idea, I'll be looking into it.
I have definitely enjoyed having it. It’s a great “budget” alternative. Sure, the others would be better and it would be great to have the handle to hold onto, but I don’t regret this one at all, especially for the money. Thanks for watching.
Nice job, and I may have welded it on both sides . Mine came with steps ,but I wonder sometimes lol ,Great Video, Thanks ,now i will do this for my smaller boats
I honestly didn’t know that. My old boat only had one roller on it and when I got this one a couple years ago, this is how it was strapped. Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for watching!
If you’re talking about the one towards the end after I installed the step, it’s my mount for my graphs that I use in the front of my boat. It’s called the “Stowaway Mount”. It does fold down and extend up so I can see it better when standing while fishing. I was also leaning on one towards the beginning of the video that is attached to my trolling motor. That’s my Rite Hite transducer mount for my live scope transducer. I appreciate you watching.
What is your height from top of trailer rail to top of bow where your stepping to? Other video said top of rail to top of step is about 10". Wondering if you can raise the step higher on the bracket?
From the top of trailer rail to top of boat is about 21”. My step is roughly 10” so almost in half. I set mine fairly high, but you might be able to a little more height out of it. I used mine at the lake today and it’s perfect for my setup. I know the more expensive ones have the handle, which would be nice, but this one works great. Thanks for watching.
The height from the top of the trailer rail to the top of the bow (where you will be stepping) is approximately 10 inches, so the step can be adjusted to be higher on the bracket. However, it is important to make sure that the step is not too high, as this could make it difficult to enter and exit the trailer.
I thought of that, and it may work on some trailers, but on mine it would have been really awkward to have the tire there. Just too much bulk in that area for me.
Yes! That is a great suggestion! I’ve thought of that a few times while getting in the boat but haven’t done it yet. I appreciate the advice. Thanks for watching.
@@JT_70 no. The side of my head hit the front of the boat first. As my face came down I & hit my cheek hit the wench as my body fell in the water right after that

Not a bad suggestion! Thanks and thanks for watching.

Still loving it. Hope your fishing is great as well. Thanks for watching. I’m gonna check out your page.

That sounds like a great idea. Not having the handle is the only downside to this option, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
Paul you have a picture of this
I'm going to follow your lead, sir. I, too, am a tall, big man and getting old. Thank you
I really like having mine. Sure, the one with a handle would be great, but for the money, this one works very well for me. Thanks for watching!
Thank You!!👍👍
Exactly what I need.
I have some of the same issues.
New Sub. this morning.
I’ve sure enjoyed having this. So glad I came across it as well. Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub!
Thanks Dave. Can’t bring myself to pay $400 for a trick stepmom my Lund pro v bass but my 60 year old but can’t climb the way I used to. Installed the step and can use my spare tire as the 2nd step. Great $30 solution.
It sure helps! I appreciate you watching.
That is a great idea 💡. Thank you so much for sharing it. Great video and very informative. 😊
Thanks. I’m glad I came across it. I’m enjoying having it on my trailer.
I added a trick step to my trailer.. it was $525.. was not cheap, but worth every penny. If I knew about this mount, i could saved some money
I know those are a much better set up and I would have loved to have done that. Just couldn’t swing it at the time and this one works out great. It would be nice to have the handle though. Thanks for watching.
I watched that exact video 🤣🤣 im a big man myself. Was nice watching you "test" it out lol. Great video!
Haha! Gotta test it out! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video. I've got a 96PII, looking forward to this upgrade after I repair my bunks. 🤣
It sure has made a difference. Probably any kind o extra step would be beneficial. Thanks for watching.

Yes, those seats are great! Thanks for watching.
Very nice build! Up is always easier than down climbing on those
Yes, you are correct about that. The handle would definitely be nice, I have to admit. Thanks for watching.
Nice video sir, very well detailed n I'm glad to see it works for you great job.
Thanks. I appreciate that. I sure like having it! Thanks for watching.

Thank you! I’m also adding a non slip pad to my trailer as well, first chance I get.

I just watched GunnFishTV's video too. Great video man!
Thank you!
Nice job. looked like it was very helpful.
Very helpful! Thanks for watching.
havent seen this before, genius!!
I thought the same thing when I saw it. It actually works very well. Thanks for watching.
Nice job, and I may have welded it on both sides . Mine came with steps ,but I wonder sometimes lol ,Great Video, Thanks ,now i will do this for my smaller boats
Yeah, I think if I had a welder, I may have done that too. I appreciate you watching and good luck with this on your smaller boats.
Awesome idea
I thought so as well when I saw it. Works pretty good, too. Thanks for watching.
Great idea Dave ...thanks for sharing
I agree. I can’t take credit for it, but I’m glad I found it. Works well for me. Thanks for watching.
Nice addition, my concern is when you back up at a tight angle is that step going to dent the right corner of your truck? Thank You for the idea.
It definitely makes a difference on where you install it on the trailer. Thanks for watching.
3 1/2 feet back from the ball will clear any truck. Unless you meant dent the side fender ?? The boat will bust out your tail light first.
Nice job! Good info, thanks
Thank you. I appreciate you watching.
Your bow strap should be under the lower roller when towing.
I honestly didn’t know that. My old boat only had one roller on it and when I got this one a couple years ago, this is how it was strapped. Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for watching!
@@according2dave Basscats are back heavy. Strapping from under the lower roller helps to keep the bow down while trailering.
Could just side mount the spare tire to the tongue to create a 10" step and save money
Ha! Probably could be an option. Might of gotten a bit crowded in that area like that, but not a bad option if it works out.
Cheap and works.
Exactly! Thanks for watching.
I bought a trick step worth every penny. Yeah they are expensive but I piss that much away every two or three months
That would be great! Maybe one day, but this one is filling the need for the moment. Thanks for watching!
All I can say is... PANTERA!!! 🤘🤘
Yes!
What was the pole you leaned on on the deck?

Why not just mount the spare tire there and step on it.
I thought of that, and it may work on some trailers, but on mine it would have been really awkward to have the tire there. Just too much bulk in that area for me.
I would have just welded it together then powder coat everything.
Probably a good idea, I just don’t have a welder.
I found out the had way to also add grip tape to the front of the trailer. My cheek hit the wench 🤬
Yes! That is a great suggestion! I’ve thought of that a few times while getting in the boat but haven’t done it yet. I appreciate the advice. Thanks for watching.
Did your cheek hit the wench’s fist?
@@JT_70 no. The side of my head hit the front of the boat first. As my face came down I & hit my cheek hit the wench as my body fell in the water right after that
I wanna make this... This it will support someone 320lbs
Well, I can’t say exactly. I’m pushing 300 and I feel really comfortable with it. I think the step is rated for 300lbs max.
