All these instructions are great. I have been breathing wrong most of my life...upper chest breathing has always been my normal. cordinated breathing is another great instructions. Thanks so much.
I’m recovering from SOB from long covid. I’m also in a program where I maintain my baseline to reset my nervous system. This means I stay within a range where nothing I do makes me any worse than I already do. Should I do these daily? I did week 1 everyday last week. I’m in very good shape minus my nervous system.
I sometimes forget whether to inhale or exhale when doing the bicep curls and movement of feet. is it important to always exhale when binging up arms and feet or can it be reversed by exhale when lowering? I also have been battling fibrosis. is there an exercise I can do to help the lungs in inhaling? that seems most difficult to me.
You always want to exhale when you are utilizing your muscles. Inhale when you’re relaxed and exhale during the muscle contraction. Your body will utilize the oxygen better.
I am full of questions today. When we are watching TV or reading or whatever else we’re doing are we supposed to do the diaphragmatic breathing with the pursed lips at all time? Or do we only use the pursed lips trying to get the breathlessness under control? Can we still do the deep breathing but keep our lips closed and exhale through our nose? I have developed chap lips from all the purse breathing @BreatheBetterwithElizabeth
You always want to use the diaphragmatic breathing, but the pursed lip doesn’t have to be done at all times. Just listen to your body. Some people don’t need to do the pursed lip at all. It just depends on the person and what their lung conditions are.
I’m doing fairly well with breathing properly while sitting down however I am not doing well with walking. Can you give some advice on how to walk and breathe at the same time? I tend to find myself breathing from the chest and when I try to breathe properly, it kicks me into coughing. Another quirky thing is how do you breathe while brushing your teeth? I’m OK on the inhale but I can’t exhale with purse lips. I’ll have toothpaste all over the place. sounds minor and it probably is but I am curious.
It’s interesting that you only cough while walking if you’re doing the diaphragmatic breathing. It could be because youre breathing much deeper. Try doing it without breathing in as much to see if it makes a difference. Also, are you breathing through your nose? I think it’s perfectly fine to breathe however is comfortable and not messy when you’re brushing your teeth! 😉🫁💗
was just told I need rehab exercises. my breathing was incorrect. doing the correct breathing sometimes causes coughing so I slow down a bit. thank you for making these videos
at what point should we move on to week 3? I'm assuming it depends upon each individual. week 2 can still be a workout for me. im being good and doing it every other day.
The goal is to always use your diaphragm when you breathe. The deep breathing helps with ventilation and relaxes your muscles. As long as you don’t get dizzy (from hyperventilation), then you can do them whenever you like.
If we continue to do the diaphragmatic breathing exercises, will our body automatically start breathing that way on its own so that we don’t have to concentrate on it? And will our body breathe that way while we’re sleeping? I know that when I’m concentrating on my breathing, I really can’t concentrate on anything else. if it will help in the long run, it’s well worth it
Yes! I’m not sure about when you sleep, that’s a great question. The more you practice, your body and brain will start making muscle memory and you won’t have to think about quite so much.

I’m not sure that’s something that I can commit to right now as I’m usually super busy with work and the kids sports. If I can figure something out logistically, than I will. Until then, I’m happy to answer any questions that you can jot down!
If you have a hard time completing it, start off with breathing exercises only, then try the video without using any weights at all for a couple of weeks.
What size weights do you recommend In the process of being tested for a lump program in Boston mass and am doing everything today to gain weight and strength my lungs. You are truly a God Send
I always recommend starting with one pound and building from there. 1 week, 3-4 times a week with 1 lb, then go up to 2 lbs the following week, and so on. As you increase the weight, you may need to stay with a particular weight more than 1 week. The key is for it to be right in the middle of hard and easy!
Great workout. Thanks.
You're so welcome!

That’s great!!

What breathing exercises can I do on a long flight?
Thank you for these videos.
You’re welcome!!!
It feels like I have bronchitis for two years straight after covid.
It takes some people a very long time to feel good again after COVID. I’m sorry you to suffer like that.
Thank you Elizabeth 😊💕

I'm assuming it depends upon each individual. week 2 can still be a workout for me. im being good and doing it every other day.
You can actually go back and forth between week 2 and 3 to add diversity! Just do what feels right for you on that particular day.
Is our goal to constantly do the deep breathing? 24/7 or just when active. Im doing exercises almost constantly while sitting.

Suggestion.............. How about a live Q&A the following day from the weekly lesson? I know I would love it and many watchers also.
I’m not sure that’s something that I can commit to right now as I’m usually super busy with work and the kids sports. If I can figure something out logistically, than I will. Until then, I’m happy to answer any questions that you can jot down!
@@BreatheBetterwithElizabethplease ma can it help in someone with a left lung collapsed?
It’s it normal to get dizzy doing the exercises
No, you shouldn’t get dizzy. If you get dizzy, you should stop.
I still haven't been able to do this I ask the doctor
