"Many Bar HP" is a must for this kind of mechanics. You can decrease your enemy's bar based on how you executed em. For example : The HP number starts at 9 Points (Konpaku). After you push enemy's HP (reishi) at 5% then you executed it with powerful atk like Bankai, it would decrease enemy's konpaku by 4 point (so now enemy has 5 konpaku). But if you just executed it with basic atk, it would just decrease enemy's konpaku by 1-2. Thats also how comeback mechanics works in this game. If your Konpaku only remain 1 but enemy still has 4, you can win if you manage to execute em with Bankai.

After you manage to make enemy dying with 5-1% HP (reishi) remain, you decide what kind of move to execute em. The stronger the finisher move, the more enemy Konpaku will be reduced. Based on the explanation, im sure you cant decrease enemy's konpaku directly by performing strong atk like Bankai before enemy's reishi reach very low percentage (dying). But in BT3, even if your enemy still has full HP beans, you can perform ult to decrease their bean directly without make them dying.
I'm so happy it looks unique and not another 1:1 Storm clone, from the art, to the camera angles, to the combat system it looks like they actually put some effort into this one and its not gonna be like the last few arena fighters... hopefully...

People were complaining about it being an arena fighter because arena fighters have all been doing the exact same thing for so long and not evolving what they could do. The combos are usually simple and basic, the health bars are the same etc. but this game is trying to actually give a unique experience that no other Bleach game can give you while utilizing the actual series power system mechanics. Something a bunch of other games covering animes don't do I personally enjoying games with complicated and complex systems like this because I have more to sink my teeth into besides just blasting an enemy until they lose. In this game there's counters, perfect timing etc. So I'm happy overall Tl;dr yap fest

my thoughts on the health bar is they want the fights to feel 'cinematic' where it gets more intense over time. That allows them to keep the separate 'konpaku attacks' which get more dedicated animations and love, and it leaves the door open for 'last leg' mechanics. Characters that get stronger/new moves/new states with fewer konpaku, or special awakenings being tied to the state of their konpaku are possibilities that they can go for. They can also have the music escelate based on character konpaku state making it easy for the music to get hype alongside the battle. these are just far flung hopes though ;_;
I got that vibe as well. Since many Bleach characters have a lot of "ultimate" attacks and transformations, I assume that they will do different ones depending on how many Konpaku points they have left. Like Ulquiorra could transform into his first Resurrección or do a Cero Oscuro if he's above 50% HP, but if he's below that, he goes into Segunda Etapa and does Lanza de Relampago, just as an example
The mechanics are a bit complicated, but hopefully as more gameplay is shown everything starts to be more clear. I am pleased by what I've seen, which is a good thing. The floating is mimicking the technique the character's use in the show to "fly".

If that is truly the case, then that’s exactly what I was afraid of. I never did like the whole concept of getting your health bar to a certain point to use transformations of sorts when the characters could use them at any point during the show.
Its actually not complicating, what is going to be is if there arent parries, if there isnt a rush of some sort, and escape and a chase to the escape how jump force did

It's the way the trailer describes it that causes that reaction, it also doesn't seem like they'll just flow into the next bar smoothly but that could just be the trailer
My only concern is that the game might be slow. They didn’t really show too much movement or combos and without those, it might feel generic. Hopefully they get more into that later

The konpaku system is sick imo because they’re probably tying it into the game mechanics itself like the Awakenings. Like I can imagine there will be characters that go from trash to high tier at lower konpaku. Also they ARE floating you remember Air-Walk/Hirenkyaku right?

It seems like there’s some magnetism between characters when in close quarters; could be for camera purposes. I think the movement will be closer to a 3D Fighter.
Im feeling this game tbh It looks promising! It would've been easier with the regular health bars but having something to switch up and make it interesting isn't so bad either, plus someone else in the comments did mention how it makes the fights more cinematic so that's a plus too Overall i think the game'll turn out to be a good one folks, I was one of the ones hoping for a more open world Bleach game but make the arenas big and im totally cool ngl
I think of the Konpaku like stages of the fight. As the fight reaches certain stages of the fight your character gets access to awakenings, bankais, etc thus giving you more chances to comeback. Of course player expression still exists and it won't guarantee a win but yeah.

At certain points you can see the footsteps leaving a lil blue effect which in the anime was used when they were actually in the air so I think there is actually mid air combat as well as just on the ground bc you can also see little dust effects when they're on solid ground which is sick
I think the convolution of Rebirth of Souls’ fighting system is fitting because it mirrors the complexities, vagueness, and straight up convoluted aspects of BLEACH’s world and the way that Kubo writes the series’ story. It literally made me smirk and think, “typical” when the trailer dropped this morning. 😂 Otherwise, I love what I’m seeing so far. The aesthetic of this game is saucy as fuck and the vibe and flow of the game’s combat reminds me more of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm than it does of Sparking! ZERO.
2:03 you can see 1 frame of movement, looks like a walk, which probably means your gonna have to manage flash step to really get around, kinda like sparking zero and its boost

The Multiple health bars and the size of the normals tells us a lot about the games design philosophy. On a base level the devs expect you to get clipped a lot. The range, speed, and distance covered even on whiff is about to be crazy. Getting multiple chances to continue fighting via multiple health bars allow for these crazy normals to exist without breaking the game. The other positive to creating a game that allows you to get hit a lot is the freedom the devs get on normals and specials This game will feel like bleach and be fun for people even if they aren’t really into fighting games. This is normally a double edged sword though. The upside of your moves whiff canceling, being fast, and going mad far is that you don’t get punished as hard for pressing buttons. It protects people from the mistake of whiffing. Not being punished as hard and being protected from whiffing = fun for people that might not have a lot of experience. The downside is that you’re not gonna be able to whiff punish shit in this type of system. So the game is gonna be very unga where people just do shit which can be fun but also suck for people that value commitment, punishing, and the base mind games around footsies.
I think if you look again lotus, they were actually in the air in like 1 or 2 of those spots (not all) but yeh you have to look close. Excited nonetheless 🤙
Its like Budokai "Not Tenkaichi" & Storm put together I notice. It looks like you can't control your jump or how you float like dbz budokai but the camera angle are like storm. Only thing I'm confuse about is that can walk freely around ? If you notice ichigo and byakuya do walk around from the sides but who knows if that's video editing.
So the reason I like the Konpaku system is because it reminds me of Dyssidia. Build up the damage and cash it out. It's not quite that, but basically your attacks now have two different purposes depending on how you wanna fight. Which gives more room for design variety.

This game is definitely DIFFERENT but i like what they're trying to do here. Hopefully we'll get a full gameplay showcase where we can a better feel for the flow of the mechanics.
9:20 theyre not on the ground at that point but earlier they are. The soul break and reishi gauge thing seems like a normal health but you’d defeat them with a special move to destroy extra souls from my understanding
Feels like they wanted to make a fighting game but didn't. It has a lot of mechanics like counter hits and stuff that you don't see in arena fighters. Swear it looks like byakuya activates max mode at one point. The characters are a lot more side by side than most arena fighters too where usually the one you play is closer to the camera and the opponent is further away. And its kinda funny cause that 3d fighting game that this dev made that people brought up battle arena toshinden was marketed as the tekken killer when it came out. The special thing about it was that it was like a 2d fighting game but in 3d. The jumps were super high and you have the usual 2d motion input moves like your hadoken and DPs. Didn't pan out tho and tekken ate it up. And yeah often bleach characters just fly around like dbz characters they genuinely look like they're zooming through the air but the lore is that they are supposed to be standing on reishi platforms they make underfoot. In some of the earliest screenshots we got the characters were real high in the air. I thought that the stage was just that height initially but this trailer showed thats not the case.
the part where it looks odd that their flying is because they are you can see the reishi gather on their feet and when ichigo fell he fell down to the ground and in the next scene they are back on the ground
It looks like it could be good. I just need to know how the game feels. How responsive are the controls, how floaty is it, how deep are the mechanics, etc etc. Hopefully they release a demo. It can’t be worse than JJK or Storm Connections at launch and that’s all I can ask for
Genuinely the best one coming out, they will make a different game later on im sure but right now they have to be on the same par as sparking zero or the rerelease of a tenkaichi they need to be right there and this is perfect. I think its just them standing on the reishi under their feat and therefore floating cause we know most who use reishi can do this in the show its how they “fly” in the series by walking on reishi/air Edit: now i think its a Budokai like system in budokai when u knock someone back u had the possibility of sending them into the air and even following up and sending them up or down if i remember correctly correct me if im wrong but it could be like that cause ichigo teleports behind byakuya and then their above ground meaning we might have air battles like the anime and even take it from ground to air
If its one thing this game gonna be great at is presentation cause gawd damn. THIS SHIT PRETTY AS HELL Also the Konpaku mechanic seems to give a level of strategy in how you finish an opponent. If you want to end the fight quickly, you prolly gotta kill em with a ult rather than normals.

so the issue appears to be that the bankai fighting is going to be SO good that any other fighting will just feel like filler to get to the good stuff. Very in tone for a game set in the bleachverse. 😂 (i love bleach)
This is gonna be an unpopular take ... but first I love bleach, read the manga, watched all the anime (including fillers each week it dropped), watched all the movies and played almost all its games. I am super hyped for a console/PC high quality bleach game BUT I don't like how the UI and fighting looks ... this is giving a little bit floaty MHA/JJK vybes with the gameplay. The UI is massive taking up a ton of the screen. The only thing in my opinion that looks good so far is the visual graphics of the characters, not the attacks or movement so far. I am hoping this is a SUPER ROUGH gameplay trailer and it will look drastically better months down the line but I think as Bleach fans I understand we are happy to get something on console/PC that looks good as this but let's not put on our blinders on for this game and give proper feedback to the devs ASAP on things we find off about it. I said the exact thing for the JJK game and got a bunch of backlash (and I'm a strong JJK fan as well) but here we are now ...
Imagine if JJK english dub gave it the Bleach Eng Dub treatment: When using Curse techniques and chanting their Expansions, calling it by name in Japanese😅 (I love bleach eng dub for that)

I think of the Konpaku like stages of the fight. As the fight reaches certain stages of the fight your character gets access to awakenings, bankais, etc thus giving you more chances to comeback. Of course player expression still exists and it won't guarantee a win but yeah.
How you made an 18 minute video out of a 3 minute gameplay shows your content creator skills because I could never lol. Game looks sick but def wanna see more before I get too excited. Also I think a regular health bar would've been perfectly fine. #roadtolikingeveryLotusvideo
At certain points you can see the footsteps leaving a lil blue effect which in the anime was used when they were actually in the air so I think there is actually mid air combat as well as just on the ground bc you can also see little dust effects when they're on solid ground which is sick
I think the convolution of Rebirth of Souls’ fighting system is fitting because it mirrors the complexities, vagueness, and straight up convoluted aspects of BLEACH’s world and the way that Kubo writes the series’ story. It literally made me smirk and think, “typical” when the trailer dropped this morning. 😂 Otherwise, I love what I’m seeing so far. The aesthetic of this game is saucy as fuck and the vibe and flow of the game’s combat reminds me more of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm than it does of Sparking! ZERO.
2:03 you can see 1 frame of movement, looks like a walk, which probably means your gonna have to manage flash step to really get around, kinda like sparking zero and its boost

The Multiple health bars and the size of the normals tells us a lot about the games design philosophy.
On a base level the devs expect you to get clipped a lot. The range, speed, and distance covered even on whiff is about to be crazy. Getting multiple chances to continue fighting via multiple health bars allow for these crazy normals to exist without breaking the game.
The other positive to creating a game that allows you to get hit a lot is the freedom the devs get on normals and specials This game will feel like bleach and be fun for people even if they aren’t really into fighting games.
This is normally a double edged sword though. The upside of your moves whiff canceling, being fast, and going mad far is that you don’t get punished as hard for pressing buttons. It protects people from the mistake of whiffing. Not being punished as hard and being protected from whiffing = fun for people that might not have a lot of experience.
The downside is that you’re not gonna be able to whiff punish shit in this type of system. So the game is gonna be very unga where people just do shit which can be fun but also suck for people that value commitment, punishing, and the base mind games around footsies.
I think if you look again lotus, they were actually in the air in like 1 or 2 of those spots (not all) but yeh you have to look close. Excited nonetheless 🤙
Its like Budokai "Not Tenkaichi" & Storm put together I notice. It looks like you can't control your jump or how you float like dbz budokai but the camera angle are like storm. Only thing I'm confuse about is that can walk freely around ? If you notice ichigo and byakuya do walk around from the sides but who knows if that's video editing.

So the reason I like the Konpaku system is because it reminds me of Dyssidia. Build up the damage and cash it out. It's not quite that, but basically your attacks now have two different purposes depending on how you wanna fight. Which gives more room for design variety.
Yeah in Bleach they stand in mid-air when they fight outside, it started during the Arrancar Arc when Grimmjow first invaded Karakura. So far so fucking good!!! 8:55 Soul Reapers don't fly like Dragon Ball characters they pretty much stand, walk, run and jump on the air so it's actually quite accurate to the show and manga
I saw it too I think you are right they aren't standing on the stage, but every character in Bleach with spiritual energy can damn near stand in space so I didn't think it was that big a deal lol. Especially soul reapers

9:20 theyre not on the ground at that point but earlier they are. The soul break and reishi gauge thing seems like a normal health but you’d defeat them with a special move to destroy extra souls from my understanding
Feels like they wanted to make a fighting game but didn't. It has a lot of mechanics like counter hits and stuff that you don't see in arena fighters. Swear it looks like byakuya activates max mode at one point. The characters are a lot more side by side than most arena fighters too where usually the one you play is closer to the camera and the opponent is further away.
And its kinda funny cause that 3d fighting game that this dev made that people brought up battle arena toshinden was marketed as the tekken killer when it came out. The special thing about it was that it was like a 2d fighting game but in 3d. The jumps were super high and you have the usual 2d motion input moves like your hadoken and DPs. Didn't pan out tho and tekken ate it up.
And yeah often bleach characters just fly around like dbz characters they genuinely look like they're zooming through the air but the lore is that they are supposed to be standing on reishi platforms they make underfoot. In some of the earliest screenshots we got the characters were real high in the air. I thought that the stage was just that height initially but this trailer showed thats not the case.

the part where it looks odd that their flying is because they are you can see the reishi gather on their feet and when ichigo fell he fell down to the ground and in the next scene they are back on the ground

Genuinely the best one coming out, they will make a different game later on im sure but right now they have to be on the same par as sparking zero or the rerelease of a tenkaichi they need to be right there and this is perfect. If sparking zero makes it to evo that allows bleach to follow suit, alongside nen impact
I think its just them standing on the reishi under their feat and therefore floating cause we know most who use reishi can do this in the show its how they “fly” in the series by walking on reishi/air
Edit: now i think its a Budokai like system in budokai when u knock someone back u had the possibility of sending them into the air and even following up and sending them up or down if i remember correctly correct me if im wrong but it could be like that cause ichigo teleports behind byakuya and then their above ground meaning we might have air battles like the anime and even take it from ground to air

This is gonna be an unpopular take ... but first I love bleach, read the manga, watched all the anime (including fillers each week it dropped), watched all the movies and played almost all its games.
I am super hyped for a console/PC high quality bleach game BUT I don't like how the UI and fighting looks ... this is giving a little bit floaty MHA/JJK vybes with the gameplay. The UI is massive taking up a ton of the screen. The only thing in my opinion that looks good so far is the visual graphics of the characters, not the attacks or movement so far.
I am hoping this is a SUPER ROUGH gameplay trailer and it will look drastically better months down the line but I think as Bleach fans I understand we are happy to get something on console/PC that looks good as this but let's not put on our blinders on for this game and give proper feedback to the devs ASAP on things we find off about it. I said the exact thing for the JJK game and got a bunch of backlash (and I'm a strong JJK fan as well) but here we are now ...

I've judged a lot of games by their looks and the character models are excellent, I think the arena and the ground textures are quite generic but then I need to see more maps and hope that this is just an early build, I want them to do the best they can so we get the best game possible, I want to try the game myself and see how the mechanics work because they look fun.
