Through the grandeur of temples and the echoes of power, the Khmer Empire's rise was a testament to human ambition, yet its eventual decline reminds us that all empires, no matter how great, are subject to the tides of time. Thank you for sharing!!

Very confusing. This is just a string of bits of information with no cohesiveness at all. As someone that loves Cambodia, I find it a shame that its rich and interesting history is not conveyed in this video.

There was really only ONE other people on earth who built at the PRECISION and exquisiteness at which the Khmer did: the Athenians.
But whereas the Athenians lived in a very rocky, hilly topography, and so, other than individual exquisite BUILDINGS, they could only do haphazard city blue print lay-outs.... this area where Angkor Wat City --- when people think of Cambodia, they only think about and/or see the exquisite main Temple, that is on the Cambodian Flag; but it a giant city for around 1M people, with modern day, PERFECT GEOMETRY, from giant dug-out superficial lakes to next level temples built using precision cutting techniques ---- is FLAT and LARGE, so the Angkor Wat City... was done exactly like modern 20th and 21st century CIVIL ENGINEERS with their modern machines and surveying equipment WOULD DO IT...
The ruins and over-grown, over many centuries have prevented people from seeing the exquisite nature, the precision at which the ancient Khmer built this city... so here, THE FIRST RUclips VIDEO.... an older GERMAN RE-RENDERING, using 3-D computer ANIMATION... BASED ON ACTUAL RUINS, shown in bits & pieces by the SECOND RUclips travelogue video.... both authenticated by both satellite surveys and on-the-ground actual ruins: ----
    ruclips.net/video/Baq_XB-fugI/видео.html
    ruclips.net/video/dcWoW-YUCng/видео.html
These two brief videos/animation, along with the discussion on this video here by ODYSSEY OF EMPIRES.... should be enough to convey to you the next level master-builders of the Khamer.
Not even the mighty Chinese or the Japanese --- the better known people and empires in Asia --- designed and built a city of this majestic, of this exquisite, AND OF THIS SIZE... until the 20th century....
EDIT: The West never conquered Thailand, as it was erroneously suggested here, starting at 1:30. The West ---- the French and then, later, the Americans --- did "conquer Indochina" (which was made up of Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam)... but NO WESTERN NATION every conquered Thailand.
Thailand in Asia and Ethiopia in Africa.... are two of the rare nations/empires in today's so-called THIRD WORLD that escaped official conquest by Europeans or White people.

I'm only 5 minutes in and this has many errors. Thailand was never colonized, the word Khmer doesn't mean mountain people, Suryavarman reign was until 1150, not 1145, Ta Prom is not the only temple with wooden walkways (Beng Mealea has more than Ta Prom), Khmer was a written language during the time of Angkor and there are written records from that time, just few lasted, Angkor Wat took 37 years to complete, not over a century, and Tonle Sap is not a city.
Also, at least 1 picture is not real but AI generated, and some temples are mispronounced (but not as badly pronounced as I've heard on other videos). I think this video might have been AI generated as it loops itself like others I've seen.
So I watched a little more while writing and another issue. Tonle Sap does not mean great lake. Tonle means river and Sap means both to spread out, and also freshwater. I take offense at calling the current Cambodian race degenerate.

The architects, planners, engineers, spiritual advisors, astrologers and experts who designed and built ankor wat were from India. They brought with them hindu mathematics. The Khmer structures and their surrounding areas are based upon vedic geometry and science.

😂😂😂 WAYTA 😂😂😂. India that came to Cambodia Khmer was in the 1st century. That was back in Funan Empire. 😂😂😂. The temple was built in the 12 century. That is 12 hundred years apart. Khmer is Hinduism and Buddhism. So, of course, Khmer and India, there got something in common. That That doesn't mean India craftsmanship was the one design it.

The building of Angkor Wat took 35 years (not hundred Years) and involved three hundred thousand workers and six thousand elephants. It’s surrounded by a huge moat (two hundred meters wide). Twice a year, on the March and September equinoxes the sun shines on the top of the tallest tower of Angkor Wat, through the opening to the shaft below. The center of Angkor Wat structure is on the exact cardinal point with a GPS precision (Without GPS at that time).
Angkor Wat was built on a foundation of sand, over the subterranean water and tectonic plates.
So more than ten million tons of stones, in the form of a temple, have been floating for centuries. And according to the archeologists, that is the reason why Angkor Wat is still standing today.
Secondly the great Khmer Empire contained the whole Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, not part of them, simply, because they did not exist then.
There were also three huge Barays (man made-water reservoirs), two of them dried out, except the west Baray(measure 8 km x 2 km) that is still the biggest man made water reservoir today.
One can see that the hundred meters long bas-relief-carvings and the thousand of apsaras on the wall of Angkor Wat are of khmer art.

A lot of the info provided is incorrect. Thailand never occupied by any foreign. Some of the land southern part of today VN belong to Khmer empire and the Champa kingdom not the land of Vietnam. Vietnam land at that time was in the North of VN today and Central and part of the southern was part of Champa Kingdom.
