The resistor in 2:03 is 10k ohm (brown, black, orange = 10^3= 10000 ohms) according to the colour code not 1k ohm as shown on the video. 1k ohm would be brown, black, red = 10^2=1000 ohms
Yeah, i checked that out too. He seems to have the 10k resistor hooked up, so i guess thats the one that should work. Seems like a miniature/pocket size, powered volt meter...
Vary the voltage when you have a Zener or LED on it, the voltage across the LED and Zener will stay relatively constant over a wide range of input voltage. Put a switch at the output current limiting resistor to show the supply voltage and the circuit voltage.

When I first seen it I was curious as to what benefit he was thinking, since there is no benefit, lol. However, back in my day, I was designing, building and troubleshooting at board level. Now it is all "plug&play" systems. There is very little use for Old fossils like me anymore. But it's comical to me to see the errors made by some of these people.

Good idea, though an improvement would put the circuit on a 9 Volt battery carrier, unfortunately batteries have a shelf life. Just if you want it to keep working a few years from now. You can get a little 9 volt battery box to tidy it up. Also watch out for dry solder joins. Suddenly not working is very frustrating. Thanks for listening.

Good idea. Clever to use the tape so the assembly can be moved to a fresh battery when replacement is needed. I suppose a Scotch Command strip would also work. No glue needed at all in that case..

Can someone explain to me the advantage of carrying this kit with you. Those of us in the Trade would be more likely to use the Correct Instruments to carry out any testing of whatever. Otherwise, why did we spend all of that Money on Tech Gear in the First Place? I would be more likely to use the correct Kit instead of some “Gerry Rigged” Whatever. Can’t see the point of it at all. Caution with incorrect polarity! LED only tolerate a very low blocking voltage. They can already be destroyed with small blocking voltages of 5 to 6 V. 28V is too much.
It's really quite simple - the contra mating diode pinions connect to the pre-selective flumper shaft and the double resistor thrupple capacitor ensures the 9 volt battery engages current at the correct potential voltage. You can place the white lead anywhere you fancy it makes no difference to the way it shows pretty numbers!

I mean wtf bro. Velcro would have still seemed godawful trailer trash but at least you don't gotta bust out the hair dryer every time you need a new battery.
not gonna defend the solder job, in fact I'm gonna pile on and say: the solder connection with the switch @0:35 suffers from so much mechanical load it'll break off in no time, look how much it's bending! However, you might appreciate this tidbit: you can unstick hot glue with isopropanol! It's pretty great like that :)

Maybe it's the Chinese version.

Good demo on using a boost converter to help identify zeners. But why would you want to glue it to a battery?
