The resistor in 2:03 is 10k ohm (brown, black, orange = 10^3= 10000 ohms) according to the colour code not 1k ohm as shown on the video. 1k ohm would be brown, black, red = 10^2=1000 ohms
Yeah, i checked that out too. He seems to have the 10k resistor hooked up, so i guess thats the one that should work. Seems like a miniature/pocket size, powered volt meter...
Maybe it's the Chinese version.
Vary the voltage when you have a Zener or LED on it, the voltage across the LED and Zener will stay relatively constant over a wide range of input voltage. Put a switch at the output current limiting resistor to show the supply voltage and the circuit voltage.
Good demo on using a boost converter to help identify zeners. But why would you want to glue it to a battery?
True. Best to, maybe, glue it to a plastic type battery holder, instead.
@@englishrupe01 Probably just convenience for the purposes of the demo. I agree, there are more stable ways to do it, but for quick and dirty when you need it fast, what he did works well enough.
At last, a really useful project. This function should be built into every DMM sold.

Thank you. Nice video, however the resistor shown is a 10k not a 1k. Brown, black, orange= 10k. Brown, black, red= 1k. Not condemning, just correction.
You can condem since he knowingly used a dishonest clickbait thumbnail in the first place. A lie is a lie and should be condemned in a civilized society. Also, avoid people who feel the need to always carry a couple of resistors (especially if the don't know how to determine their resistant value)!
@@alexthai4957 Hey Mister Alex, you are correct. I didn't think to mention it, but he did parallel a 10k and a 22 Ohm resistor. When I first seen it I was curious as to what benefit he was thinking, since there is no benefit, lol. However, back in my day, I was designing, building and troubleshooting at board level. Now it is all "plug&play" systems. There is very little use for Old fossils like me anymore. But it's comical to me to see the errors made by some of these people.

I am 73yrs old and was a very good troubleshooter back in the 70's and 80's. But from the start, I lost my rt eye in Vietnam and things digressed from there until I had to retire on disability in 2007. Hope to hear from you again Sir.

Good idea. Clever to use the tape so the assembly can be moved to a fresh battery when replacement is needed. I suppose a Scotch Command strip would also work. No glue needed at all in that case..

Good idea, though an improvement would put the circuit on a 9 Volt battery carrier, unfortunately batteries have a shelf life. Just if you want it to keep working a few years from now. You can get a little 9 volt battery box to tidy it up. Also watch out for dry solder joins. Suddenly not working is very frustrating. Thanks for listening.
Soldering flux is never a bad thing. Why do so many people not use it?
@@clarencegreen3071 it seems free soldering isn't interested in the niceties. I'm like you clean P.CB, Clean component leg, clean solder and flux for better contact. Also less solder on joint, not dry joint.

I would recommend getting a 9 v battery holder instead of gluing the whole thing to the battery. Even Velcro would work.

Eres el mejor, quise realizarlo con un power bank (de baja calidad), pero al ponerlo con un módulo elevador Xl6009 de 10w, El power bank solo parpadea El voltaje de 5v y no es constante y no sé cómo engañar al power bank para que me entregué el voltaje contante cómo lo hace con mi parlante. Caution with incorrect polarity! LED only tolerate a very low blocking voltage. They can already be destroyed with small blocking voltages of 5 to 6 V.
28V is too much.

The blue board is a boost converter. It boosts the 9v up to 28v max (adjustable).
It's 28.0 volts.
