OLD Leather Smith here, I believe you did an excellent job, being an old Leather Smith I don't paint I dye and in the past I used white rabbit 2 the ornaments also I use holes and small pieces of scrap 2 push out the leather, I like your idea 4 the batting. Wool felt will also work, which is available at Weaver. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
I'd love to see some brush painting lessons. I'm brand new to leathercrafting and I have so much to learn. These ornaments are great and I learned alot today. I appreciate that you show and explain everything in detail for those of us who are brand new and don't have a clue. 🤣😝 I'll have to check out some of your other videos.
@@DanielReachCreations not necessarily, i was talking about traditional hand painting techniques. Floreal Is a Classic old school subject in leather working from what i can tell (i'm Just a beginner in this wonderful art), but It could be nice to see hand painting used on less Classic patterns too, these ornaments are a very good example of something to do that gets away from the usual Flower or Celtic Pattern, which are both fine and very cool, but already have a HUGE amount of content on "how to".
great inspiration for next year. I make drum ornaments to sell and cant get more of the inside so want to diversify. Now I just need to figure out how to do it with my arthritic hands.
Alternative to matboard is 2mm crafting foam. It, too, provides a good grip on the flesh side of leather without removing too much force from hammer blows.
This is such a great project. I am really enjoying your series, you’re definitely on the right track. I would love videos on painting/ dyeing techniques.
I'd be very interested in more 3D ornaments, such as braided hearts, stars, baskets, candle holders - and general DIY décor items (not necessarily Christmassy for the last one)
If you want the perfect gift for Chuck... Get some nice leather for him to work with. Put it in a leather box. Wrap it in leather wrapping paper, tie a leather bow around it. Put a leather name tag on it and punch in To: CHUCK D. From: Dan R. Then place the gift on the leather skirt under Chuck's leather Christmas tree.
I'd be very interested in the brushing technique videos. The only thing I would say that was missing from this one is a demo (or clip) of the finishing technique you described. Other than that, great video as always. Very informative and detailed (at least verbally) every step needed.
@@drschonify I really wanted to get it, but it just seems like a bunch of people in a room talking at the top of their lungs. But I'm probably just showing my age. I know it's really popular.
@@DanielReachCreations you're not wrong, honestly. It CAN be all of those things that @drschonify says, but many discord servers end up just being huge chat sessions between the people who happen to be able to dedicate hours of their day to keeping up with it.
I made four of these as Christmas gifts and they came out great! I do have one question though. How did you treat the edges? Did you bevel the edges, slicker them, and then paint them?
If you click the link in the video description, the downloadable patterns are right underneath the video. There is a link that says Download Leather Ornament Pattern.
@@WeaverLeatherSupply I see all the supplies used, but cannot find the pattern in that link. I have clicked it 5 times. Lol. I search the store site and can’t find it there either. Where at the store site would it be listed?
Hey Weaver. Do you have any other guys that do tutorials? This guy, in your videos as well as his channel, loves to hear his own voice and its mostly his face. And he has a face meant more for radio or podcasts. Know what I mean. Seriously. Thanks.
Yes on the painting!!!
Yes more painting
Yes for the traditional painting
I definitely like the idea of brush painting lessons. Thanks.
Yes I would love more painting videos. Especially painting with white and how you antique over white.
I can do that. 🙂
Yes, painting videos please.

it would be awesome to have more traditional content, alongside the wonderful material that is already on
Thank you! When you say "traditional content" do you mean floral?

@@mattiachiecchi3768 good to know! Sounds like there's a lot of interest for painting. I'll definitely include wine of that.
Great holiday fun. Not everything has to be a Sleigh Bells Trap.
I love doing those, but there's so many other possibilities. 🙂

These ornaments are awesome! Thanks for sharing. ❄️🎅🏻🎄
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting. I'll have to try that.
Very cool. Keep the videos coming
I love this project, please more like this ❤
Yes to both types of painting😍

Great job! more please.
Hey Daniel, great job as always. I would like to see a video on paint layering. Or is it the same as on the Leatherverse?
Thank you! It's the same, but there's no way the one or two videos I have on painting in the Leatherverse could cover it
I'd be very interested in the brushing technique videos.

Where do you get the patterns. Would like to see more on brush painting.
Where do I get them out where can you get them?
I make them. You can get them from the link in the description.
Fantastic video! I’m new to this. I would be very interested in learns both hand painting and airbrushing
I just love your videos! Binge watching today 😊.
I'm curious if something like Elmer's All-Purpose thinned down could work as a sealer in a crunch?
Does Weaver have a Discord? It would be a nice tool for learning this craft.
I'm not sure they do. I've tried it but just don't get it. 🙃 Never got the hang of it.
Too bad. It is such a flexible tool with forums, audio/video channels, file sharing, very granular permissions.

Yes, bevel and slick the edges. If you are painting them to match the rest of the ornament we recommend just slicking with water.
