Awesome-sauce! I use a similar camera. Only it used 4 shots. Each shot at 90 degrees, so rotating the camera basically. Seems to pick up metallic colours nicely.
Hi, I have a problem with the B520P color from the Honda palette. Painter did a lot of spray tests, but none fit well, and it was mismatched pigments, a dark flop going in violet, or dark blue with green. I tested Spies Hecker and Glasurit-none did fit, even after many corrections. Two colorists recently told me that the spectrophotometer is good for uni colors, but not for metallics, pearls and xirallic. And on the film I see that the color, especially in Mazda fits very nicely. I'm wondering why the colors reject the ability to match the hue with this device, even do not want to try :-(. Sorry for my bad language.

Its hard to say without seeing it but most likely it would, if you have a Standox supplier near you then call them and ask if they have a Spectrophotometer if so they should be able to help you out with the match.

So you still have to tweek some colours, even after using the colour matcher and the software? I think I would only use this on difficult colours which, being a mobile painter, doesn't justify the price for me personally. I'll look forward to them coming down in price though.
Does anyone know a good spectrophotometer? I’m selling auto parts and everyone asks for the color code but I don’t have it. If anyone knows a good recommendation please let me know. Thank you.
Man this is bo..ks! This shouldn’t be hit and miss kind of game. Imagine i have expensive vehicle and it should be just entering the code and mix the paint i think,or maybe im at the wrong video:))

Ok cool buddy. I really wish we had devilbiss guns in America like you do. The devilbiss guns I use are pretty much the same guns you have but yours look fancier.
They usually only go off mass produced car formulas and most candy colours are custom colours so I'm not that surprised. Although candy colours are starting to be put on cars from factory like the population Mazda colour Soul Red.

The paint rep should do it for you, just install the software.

How will this work on a non standard mixed colour, as the manufacturer details would then be irrelevant
It will scan for the closest match, then shade it as required. You can then spray the colour to check it and keep adjusting as necessary.

Here in Australia they actually give them for free with most systems.
Yeah way to expensive for it just to say "here's a code we think is OK".

They are worth about $6000 but we are such a good customer that the paint company supply it at no charge.
the one my supplier uses always comes out a different car manufacturer for the mix ...
That's why you input the colour code and manufacturer before doing the search

There's a few ways but both can work
I looks like Standox mathes very well.
Most of the time they are above a %90 match so good enough to blend and if you know the system its easily matched by making a few adjustments.
