- After two months of hard work, it's finally finished! Ever since I first heard this song, I immediately thought of Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling, and how complicated yet loving their relationship is.
The timeline goes: Jin Ling, age five, wanting to play with his uncle, then Jin Ling, age fifteen, being lectured, then Jin Ling, age twenty-five, being crowned sect leader.
A special thank you to all my friends who went through me sending multiple versions of this asking for their opinion. You guys rock!

I once read a MDZS headcanon where it said that Jin Guangyao and Jiang Cheng had an unspoken agreement for the years that Jin Rusong was alive that Jin Rusong would take the Lanling Jin throne and Jin Ling would take the Yunmeng Jiang throne, and I think about this everyday

not only is the concept absolutely warming but the art is so pleasant and the music choice fits so well

Mn, he indeed would. I think after Meng Yao he has to fight with a lot like loss of kindness and trust issues, but he’s strong and can prove everyone wrong that says he’s weak and pities him with being a great sect leader 🤧
With the last two leaders the jin sect had he would have alot to over come but jaing cheng will him help him.
That’s because Jiang Cheng raised him, he’s as much a Jiang as he is a Jin

Ah man when Jiang was telling him about his mom and wei I suddenly thought about the possibility that he might have told him stories about them all the time and did it happily, but then one day he probably stopped after getting asked why Wei Ying sounds so different when he talks about him and that hurts me

I'm in tears, this is beautiful! Jiang Cheng is not perfect, but he did his best to raise Jin Ling well in the middle of his own grief for his lost family and the new burden of being a sect leader.

Oh just the double meaning of the lyrics I don’t know if that was intentional or not but it still got me
i absolutely love the lyrics of this song because in the chorus “you are so much more than your father’s son”, having jiang cheng sing it, i like to think that he is singing to jin ling, but also to himself, and healing. there are a lot of moments like that but thats my favorite ☺️
